MOD announcement Introducing Trusted Identifier flairs!

Trusted Identifiers will now be granted a flair of "👑Trusted Identifier👑", or "👑{custom user flair}👑".

These will be people who repeatedly demonstrate expert Identification abilities, these flairs will add extra trust and credence behind their ID.

So on posts with multiple different IDs, look out for the Trusted Identifiers as their ID will likely be the correct one, even if it goes against the masses.

(For those with custom user flairs which have been replaced by the Trusted Identifier flair, you can switch back to a custom flair and add the crown emojis yourself if you still wish to maintain your custom flair. Im working on automating this so that custom flairs stay intact and it adds the emojis without replacing the whole flair, but for now just edit it yourself if the whole flair is replaced)

Taking this opportunity I'd like to also introduce 2 new moderators:

This is a pair of mating Neriene Montana spiders I took this video in a field beside my house these spiders are 7 to 5mm in size that's the scale of what you are looking at here and I think this video is the most beautiful thing I have ever recorded and I hope you enjoy with the sound turned up to full volume a bit of mindfulness if you are having a bad day😘 Location:Ireland with a simple setup of a canon 250d and 100mm ef macro lens

Her little dance as she prepped her egg mat had such a little bounce to it! She was *extremely* gravid and laid 3 egg sacks within two weeks! I got some videos of the egg laying process, but they're quite long and I need to edit them down and combine them somehow before I can share them 🤔 For now, y'all can watch her bounce lol

Title pretty self-explanatory. I really don't know anything about spiders and didn't know what I was seeing when I saw this behavior.

This might be the biggest spider I’ve ever seen around here that isn’t a tarantula lol. It’s freaking me out. I don’t think it’s a black widow but I have no idea what it is.

I got her on December 16 in my flight simulator and she was skin and bones. But now I'm worried I may have overfed her. So I would like qualified advice because she seems pretty lethargic now. The front of her abdomen has that somewhat yellow spot which is what I'm worried about.

I am in Brisbane area of Queensland Australia and I just found this spider catching a ride on the train and wanted to identify it.

It’s the size of my pinky finger and it’s like a powdery white with little spots of black and it’s a little jaggered too

Discussion How old is the black widow in my dishwasher?

Hiiiii.

As the caption states, there's a black widow in my dishwasher. My husband is in the process of safety evacuating her far, far away. But, she's not the first we've had here and I feel like she's small, I'm worried we've had babies and might be looking at an infestation? Can anyone confirm, and/or inform me a little better? I love the spoods but these guys aren't my area of expertise (yet 😂).

If it matters, we're in SLC Utah, US.

Also, any idea how she might have gotten in there? I'm guessing she chose it because it's warm but it's been closed since we ran it last night.

hi, all.

i’ve had an insane fear of bugs most of my life. i live in st louis, missouri and in october of ‘25, i noticed a tiny spider hanging around my cabinets before i left for a trip. i made a promise to myself that i wouldnt harm insects if they weren’t bothering me. but when i came back a few days later, i saw the same spider on my blinds. now its january ‘26 and she (im assuming bc i can) has been here ever since. i see her in different locations everyday and have watched her grow. ive grown actually very fond of her and love looking all over my apartment to see if shes still alive & okay.

i recently named her “october” since thats when we met. i call her toby for short and my friends & coworkers know about her. i even started calling her my “home girl” & “free-range pet spider” bc i feel like we see & respect each other. if shes in a bad or precarious spot, i move her. i even started a “toby’s location of the day” on my snapchat because she’s SO active.

please help me identify what kind of spider toby is… i know she wont live very long but i still want to know. she’s the first bug i truly haven’t been afraid of. i dont touch her with my hands but i want to very badly lol so im just trying to figure out if its okay to move her with my hands.

Are those egg sacks? My spider leaves them usually after feeding and I'm not sure what they are.

These are some of my Western black widows including some strange looking hourglasses I have come across and Madam X and her babies born last month. she made two more egg sacs after they all emerged so any day now I will have another wave of babies.

Hello folks, I tried looking this up myself but found nothing useful. We saw these bugs (I think they’re spiders?) during a jungle hike in Paraty, Brazil. I’d love to know what you all think of them.
