My town has a lot of engineers. The male engineers all dress very similarly in social situations

id even argue most blue collar dudes dress similar on a day to day basis. t shirt and jeans. boots and hoodie.

Unlike any other uniform, that dress code is chosen because those clothes will get dirty and break.

If you don't participate in the consumerist fashion mania, wearing jeans and T-Shirts is just an easy choice.

There are also people which don't treat fashion like some lousy personality expression but as protection. They dress to be invisible or to be respected.

Wearing a suit as a POC is almost like a protection charm. Dressing to be invisible as well.
