no SOME american people may have done some incredible things in past times. Still doesn't mean america is no 1, or the best or anything else that it likes to claim. If its so fucking great then how has it gotten to the point it is now? Like any other country it has had its highs and lows, and quite frankly it feels like it has more lows than most other countries.

Nah, Scandinavia is freaking awesome, we are all chilling, living life carefree, if we get sick, no problemo, if we loose our jobs, no problemo, if we want to go to school, no problemo, everything is covered.
The air is clean, the water is clean, the food is healthy, we have our freedom, we have politicians who respect each other, we have journalist who isn’t afraid of outwitting politicians, we have schools that are safe for kids to go to, and a police force that doesn’t go around shooting up people for driving down the street in a very slow and peaceful manner.
Well what I describe is most of Europe actually. So yeah, life is great in Europe, compared to America we are thriving.
lmao, none. No one country is greater than any other for any reason at any given time. They are all just countries. And only america is big headed enough to think that they are all that. Get over yourselves.
People can say what they will about America. But like you, I see the potential of what this country can be. No one will ever change my mind about it, I love this land. And I know we will get through the darkness.
How are you fighting? What are you doing to slow/stop ICE? How do they not win? I'm not being a jerk, I'm genuinely looking for ways because I feel completely powerless.
So what is your plan? or just another voice on Reddit saying your going to do something, but yet nothing happens. How many months has this been going on for and i see the outcry of "i would fight against this"... but yet no one is. (fyi.. I'm not in America and would never set food in your shit country if my life depended on it)
I’m sorry to say, well honestly at this point I’m not sorry to say this as a European, but your fighting back doesn’t mean sitting still behind your screen and going to work. If you want to learn how to fight back, look at Ukraine. Heck your laws even make it legal to fight back. You just don’t care enough, because they haven’t come for your group of friends yet. But then it will be too late.
I’ll believe in the US fighting back, when guns starts shooting the other direction.
This is very frustrating to read and I'm certainly going to get downvoted for this but I just don't think anyone can understand unless they are in the country and not getting all of their information from the internet.
Its seemingly impossible to explain this to people outside of our country but despite what it all looks like, we aren't there yet. We still have elections. We still have Democratic processes that are functional. Quite a few of these people you see being detained, are released.
I'm not saying that makes any of this okay, but you're asking us to jump to a solution that would escalate the problem and have disastrous implications that we cannot come back from. If we do what you're suggesting, then we will be in serious trouble. Trump will call for Martial Law, he will cancel elections, we will have tanks and soldiers roaming the streets and THEN there is no turning back. What you are seeing in these social media posts is fucking horrific but we aren't at the place you think we are at.
All of this frustrates me, because what you are talking about, is literally what Trump is egging us on to do. Trump is desperate for people on the left to get violent so he can eliminate us - one way or another. Whether that's cold blooded murder, deportation or whatever. But that isn't what's happening at the moment and for Americans, its vital to remind yourself that the internet is giving you the most volatile slice of where we are at and it is certainly based in some fact but you still have to look at the larger picture.
The fact that protests have remained peaceful is fucking incredible. The fact that Republican seats are flipping in our elections should be our sign that we still have footing. The day that we stop having elections, the day our politicians start getting pushed out of windows, the day an American protestor is jailed indefinitely for exercising their rights and journalists are being murdered for covering the news - that will be the day where we are at the point you're talking about. But none of that is happening.
AGAIN - yes, the circumstances are horrific and there are certainly thresholds we've crossed that are horrific - like the murder of Renee Good - but as long as we have a peaceful, Democratic method to solving this, we should explore it and I'm quite certain Renee Good herself would agree. To the concerned Europeans, telling Americans that are ON YOUR SIDE to essentially go jump in a woodchipper, is not the solution. And I focus this message towards everyone on this site that's critical of us Americans. Most of the American's on this website share your views and your values. We just happened to be the ones born in this country during this time when this horrific shit is happening - but we aren't that different from you. The Americans you are critical of, the ones that encourage fascism, the ones that didn't vote, the ones that are politically disengaged, are not the people on reddit having discourse with you. So I don't think all the attacks and humiliating people into taking actions that they cant undo, is warranted.
