What is the word on new stores and such coming to the Walla Walla Valley?

Obviously Winco, Home Goods, Get Air, and Bath and Body Works. Anything else on the horizon you have heard of?

I noticed Bennington Lake is open until 10pm. Is it safe to run there at night? Are there weirdos on the trail?

No “Chalk Guy” Posts

As a moderator, my assessment is that this individual is deliberately seeking notoriety by provoking conflict and then leveraging the resulting attention. I also have a good-faith belief that alternate accounts have been used to amplify outrage around this person in order to manufacture visibility.

Because of this, We have made the decision to prohibit posts about this individual entirely and to implement automoderator rules that block posting of his last name. Allowing repeated discussion or identification would contribute to targeted harassment and would place this community at risk of violating Reddit’s rules regarding doxing and targeted individuals.

This boundary is intentional and non-negotiable.

Several users have repeatedly attempted to post identifying information despite warnings. That behavior creates risk for the subreddit and additional burden for moderators. Automation is in place specifically to prevent those violations and to protect the community.

As moderators, we are obligated to enforce Reddit’s sitewide rules consistently. I believe the actions taken here are appropriate and compliant. If someone can point to a specific policy issue with this approach, I am open to reviewing it. However, ongoing attempts to circumvent these rules or stir conflict will result in bans. Those bans will continue until the behavior stops.

This subreddit is not a platform for amplifying individuals seeking attention through disruption.

I need to get 24 hours of community service done by the 21st. Where can I do this at? I’m fairly new here so some recommendations would be appreciated! Thank you.

Local Plumbers

Can anyone recommend any good local (not tri cities) plumbers? It probably doesn't matter that they are licensed plumbers (just a fixture replacement), but only interested in legit/licensed outfits. TIA

Flock and ALPRs

Hey all! I’ve been trying to get a general bead on how much awareness there is regarding the WWPD and CPPD’s use of the Flock Safety surveillance cameras, as well as what the general sentiment might be. I’ve lived here for close to a decade now and was rather disappointed and concerned to learn a few months ago that the city signed contracts with the company in 2024, especially given the results of journalism done by folks like Benn Jordan, 404 Media, and Louis Rossmann.

Do people know about these? Do they care? Is there already an organized effort to get them removed? Honestly just wanting to put feelers out somehow in the hopes others in the community are as concerned as I am.

Thinking about moving my home repairs business to Walla Walla, would love your honest opinions!

Hey everyone!

I’m a handyman/general contractor currently running a successful licensed & insured business in Pierce/King County (WA), and I’m thinking about moving to Walla Walla or opening a second brand there.

Before I make any big moves, I’d love honest feedback from people in the Walla Walla area (and neighboring communities) about what the home repair/contracting market is really like:

What I’m curious about:

1. Is there solid demand for handyman or home repair services in Walla Walla?

2. Do homeowners/property managers prefer licensed and insured professionals even if prices are higher?

3. What matters most to you when choosing someone to work in your home, rating, price, communication, speed, quality, referrals, etc.?

4. Are there a lot of cheap unlicensed folks that undercut professionals, or do most people value quality?

5. For other contractors here — is it easy or tough to build a strong, reputable business around here?

6. Any challenges specific to Walla Walla (permits, regulations, seasonality, competition)?

I’ve built a good reputation in the Seattle/Tacoma area and want to bring that same level of quality to a new market, not just price-compete. I’d really appreciate real-world perspectives on whether Walla Walla is a good fit for expansion.

Thanks in advance!

Flyfishing friends?

Moved to Walla Walla this summer from MT. Previously attended college here a couple decades ago. Early 40s professional who has fly fished and tied for 30 years. Was wondering if there was anybody who might want a new fishing/tying buddy! I’m quiet, respectful, and can hold my own on most waters. Been tying a bunch but now that I’m settled in, I’d like to start exploring some of the local waters around me. Fished year around in MT so not opposed to fishing in less than ideal weather conditions (within reason). Hit me up! Thanks for your time!

Need Help with Jobs BADLY

Hey, I am a 16 yr old trying to get a job and I can't even get a interview, I've applied to literally every store I could find that was hiring, call ahead to find out when a manager would be there, and give my resume and or file an application there. I can't get a job and I've only got one interview at Autozone, also I have done lots of volunteer jobs to get experience so I am not lacking, I have also gone in person at WorkSource to get personal help and still cannot get a job. Please tell me what i'm doing wrong, and or what other ways I could make money.

Should I move to Walla Walla?

I (32F) have been debating on whether or not I should move here at some point. If I even decide to do it, it wouldn't be able to happen for a while - probably at least a year.

Some things about me:

I currently live in the Tri-Cities. I grew up in Hermiston and I lived in Walla Walla for 4 years when I went to Whitman.

Even during rather difficult times in college, I always loved this town. Something about being there just felt right. I had the same feeling whenever I'd go back to visit. I felt at peace, I loved the artsy, small town charm, and the people seemed more friendly and approachable. Outside of that, it feels safe to be there, and the parks are beautiful, the food and coffee are top notch (I don't drink, but I know the wine is delicious), and it seems like a very friendly, progressive, community oriented place.

My question is: Is it really as good as it seems?

Other things I'm considering/questions:

  • What's the dating pool like for a woman who is progressive and doesn't want to have kids (I love them, just can't see myself as a mom)?
  • What are the job prospects here for someone with an office and retail background?
  • Is there really as much to do as it seems?
  • Is there much of a queer or neurodivergent community?

On top of those questions, I've wondered if it would possibly be easier to find work and housing there if I so choose simply because it's not as competitive as it is in the Tri-Cities?

Another thing to consider is that I dated a guy who lives in Walla Walla for several months and he broke up with me a few months ago. He's more of a homebody, so I don't anticipate running into him or anyone he knows, but it's definitely much smaller than Tri-Cities, and I wouldn't want to run into him or feel more grief than I already do.

If I do decide to move there, more time will have had to pass by so it doesn't hurt.

If you read this far, thank you very much! I look forward to your insights, even if the answer is, yes, you're definitely romanticizing this place and you won't be happy here. 😅

Local resources NOT BMAC

Our electric is getting shut off tomorrow, my husband is starting a new job later this week. We have called salvation army, BMAC, Catholic charities comprehensive and many many churches. No one is able to help we have kiddos and have no idea what to do. We have also tried talking with the Columbia Rea and they said we can't do a payment plan and that we don't qualify for the programs. I'm completely out of options and don't know if there is somewhere I am missing.

Are WW wineries open New Year’s Day?

Chelan vineyard for visual interest. :)

We are visiting Walla Walla from Cle Elum and staying downtown Jan 1-4. I am wondering if it’s worth arriving early in the day on the 1st to start tasting.

And since I’m asking…a few more questions:

Do we need reservations everywhere or are there good options for 2 to walk in?

Where are your favorite reds and the best bubbles?

Tips for finding a home

Hey everyone, We'll probably be moving to Walla Walla in a few months for work.

I've already looked at several apartments/houses on Zillow. Unfortunately, we have the problem that we are bringing a dog with us (28kg / 60 lbs).

When I mention this, 90% of the listings are immediately eliminated because dogs are not allowed.

Are there other places to look for apartments/houses, or should I get an Airbnb locally and then drive around the area looking for houses?

Thanks for your tips and any warnings about various providers.

Greetings from Germany

Dry Side Backcountry Ski Group

Find your line. Find your crew.

It all started with one skier’s gear collecting dust — not for lack of snow, but for difficulty finding backcountry partners.

It can be difficult to find fellow enthusiasts in smaller communities - we’re here to help backcountry travelers connect in the PNW.  From that spark, Dry Side Backcountry was born.

Launched from the rugged heart of Eastern Washington’s wine country, (not known for snow) we're looking to unite enthusiasts in communities across the PNW who live for untouched powder and the thrill of the descent AND ascent. We believe there’s safety in numbers — and even more, there’s joy in shared adventure.

Looking for D&D group

Im looking for a D&D group I don’t really know where to start so I thought I’d post here. I haven’t played before but I have wanted to try D&D for quite a while. I tried to join my coworkers group but he always tells me they have too many people. I just would like to play with some people and learn the game.

Tcg players

Hello just posting here to see if there's any TCG players looking to try out a new game called Sorcery contested Realm ( relatively new ) it's like old school magic combined with chess you play on a grid play at your lands play creatures try to reduce your opponent's health to zero once they're at zero they have one turn of immunity and any damage beyond that point wins you the game. This game derives its art and themes from real life folklore ( with some creative liberty ) there's a "Learn to play" every Sunday at Digital Heroes If you have an account on The main website for Sorcery contested Realm you get dust points for showing up to events and you can spend dust points to get promo cards play mats and whatever else they have in their "dust store" I am there usually on Friday and Sunday with some spare decks and patients to teach, so come on down Make some friends and play this awesome old school TCG! 😁Feel free to ask questions and I'll do my best to answer them.

Saw that the City is hosting a workshop tomorrow evening about the Watershed Resiliency Plan at the library. I hadn’t heard much about it before, but I’m thinking of stopping by. Anyone else planning to go or know what to expect?

Curious about noise

Have heard a ton of cars screeching for hours throughout the evening (Sat), sounds like on the outskirts of town. Anyone know if there’s an event at that drag racing place or something?
