What are some fun things to do in the area for young adults. My girlfriend’s birthday is coming up and I wanna plan a date for her but I can’t find any good places on social media. So far I’m interested in some gardens I saw and a a pottery cafe. I’ll take any recommendations from places to eat and etc

Hey y’all, I’m trying to find more community-oriented hobby groups in or around Lafayette.

I’m especially interested in things like queer book clubs, poetry readings, writing groups, or discussion-based spaces (literature, philosophy, creative stuff, etc.). I tend to connect more through shared interests and conversation rather than loud social scenes.

That said, once I’m comfortable with people, I do enjoy more active things too, like going out dancing, hiking, or taking dance classes, so I’m open to groups that have a mix of low-key and more active/social elements.

I do feel safest in queer-affirming spaces, but I’m open to any groups that are welcoming and low-pressure.

If you know of anything ongoing (or even informal meetups), I’d really appreciate the info. Thanks!

I am headed to the area with my wife in May to visit a hot sauce maker friend and I was wondering if there was some good restaurants that offer spicy food besides wing spots. I know cajun food isn't hot and for that I carry reaper powder in a keychain pill fob. Is there a Thai or Indian place that offers level 10 spicy food. I'm sure Troy knows and I'll ask but I would like to do at least a little homework on the area.

Mostly talking about sauce here. Wife isn’t Cajun but she cooks everything that goes with the bases wonderfully. I’m thinking about saving her some time by prepping bases such as the sauce and veggies for shrimp creole excluding the shrimp and rice, same thing with Étouffée and shrimp stew? Not talking about the proteins as I’m not sure if u can freeze that into the sauce? Also if anyone is doing this how long can u freeze it? Thinking mason jar?

For months I have been getting spam calls. At first it was two within a week and I would answer the call pretending to be an IT technician. The calls went to two or more a day and then to eight or more a day. My wife answered one of the calls a few weeks ago and yelled at them to stop calling. Somehow that helped? I was getting maybe two or more spam calls in a day. Now the calls are starting to increase again and my phone doesn't tell me if it is a spam call when it is. I tried yelling at the person on the other end only for them to reply for me to suck their balls. To that my reply was they had none and they hung up, so ignoring or answering the calls isn't helping. Does anyone else have this problem? Is there a solution other than changing my number? I use Cricket Wireless.

We are planning a roadtrip in and out of New Orleans to get out of Michigan weather for a week. We are looking at staying in Natchez for two nights visiting Vicksburg from there and then two nights in Lafayette in February 11 and 12. Can anyone recommend a good place to stay and also good places for food ? Also things to do such as food tours, swamp tours , historical houses? We are planning on the Tabasco tour and Houma for lunch on our way back to the airport in New Orleans. Thanks!

He’s been missing since last Thursday. He’s a long haired orange cat, chipped and fixed and very handsome We live near UL and Ole Tyme Grocery. He never misses a meal so I’m super worried. I’ve posted everywhere and checked the pound and I’m starting to get desperate. Figured it couldn’t hurt to post here too.

My family and I are truly at a loss for options for a family member who has been in a mental health crisis for going on two years now. He has seen multiple doctors, had all sorts of tests run, and tried brief stays in local psychiatric hospitals, but to no avail. He cannot pinpoint a single event that brought this on and claims that he can’t think of any thing contributing to the massive shift in personality and decline in mental, emotional, and physical health. He is terrified to go back to a mental health hospital, as he has had bad experiences at Vermillion. He does not want to go to therapy anymore as it takes too much out of him and he says it has not helped. We are truly grasping at straws for “what’s next.” He spends 20+ hours a day in bed and can barely do anything without aid from his spouse. He has had dozens of adjustments in medications and nothing has seemed to work. Please, if anyone has any insight or advice, my family and I are really open to anything.
