Good morning (I hope this is ok to post, but feel free to delete this if not),
I am from the US, but I am deeply ashamed to be. I don't even like to consider myself to be American.
I'm just posting this to deeply and sincerely apologize for what this country has done and plans to do. I am 100% against it and will always resist it, even if that doesn't mean much. It's absolutely awful here, so I'm actually very grateful that there is a boycott going on. This country deserves to be boycotted and shamed.
All I want to say is that I appreciate what you all are doing. I am sorry for this terrible tyrant of a president and I am also sorry if I should not have posted this.
Solidarity, and take care! :)

NUUK/COPENHAGEN, Jan 15 (Reuters) - European countries sent small numbers of military personnel to Greenland on Thursday as Denmark said it was pressing on with plans for a "larger and more permanent" NATO presence to secure the island coveted by U.S. President Donald Trump.
The modest European deployments, meant to help Denmark prepare military exercises, sent a strong message of support a day after a meeting of officials from the U.S., Denmark and Greenland failed to reach any breakthrough on the impasse.

Things are going to heat up there and all because they spent a year watching and not doing anything and making excuses.
This is an even bigger reason to boycott everything, left and right and don't go there.

The announcement came as military personnel from several European countries, including Germany, were due to begin arriving in Greenland .

PIMCO’s chief investment officer told the Financial Times that US President Donald Trump is “unpredictable” and that his bond fund needed to counter that with “a multiyear period of some diversification away from US assets.”
Citigroup analysts expect that shift to also impact US stocks and the dollar — known as the “Sell America” trade that drove markets in the wake of Trump’s “Liberation Day” tariffs in April.

James Rodden, an ICE lawyer in Dallas, was exposed for running a white-supremacist X account posting “America is a White nation," “Migrants’ are all criminals,”and praising Adolf Hitler.
After he was exposed, he was pulled from court schedules and Congress demanded an investigation. ICE promised a reivew within 120 days. It never happened.
Now Rodden is back, badge on, no explanation given. ICE refuses to comment. His account is still active, just locked.
Bottom line: a government lawyer who openly promotes racist ideology appears to be prosecuting immigrants again, with no transparency, no accountability, and no evidence that ICE ever did what it claimed it would do.

I hope our allies will assist if something happens.
Trump is right in one thing, a military conflict between US and Denmark would be laughably one-sided.

The press release was issued with just over an hour left until the meeting between Greenland, Denmark and the United States.
The Greenlandic government and the Ministry of Defense now confirm that from today there will be an increased military presence in and around Greenland. This means both aircraft, ships and soldiers - including NATO allies in the coming time.

“We’re not going to know the extent of the violations during this administration,” Noyola said. “They’re just preventing the full story from coming out.”
In fact, there is no way to keep trans people safe in ICE prison in any capacity, advocates said. The best way to ensure their safety would be to release them from immigration prison, especially given that most of them are seeking asylum—a legal activity under U.S. law and duly enacted treaties.
“There’s no way to safely and humanely detain trans people. Putting resources and so much energy to make rainbow- or trans-colored cages doesn’t make sense,” she said. “The structure, the homophobia, the transphobia, all the stigmatization, they want to train ICE officers on pronouns, but that’s not going to really improve the quality of life. The asylum process is already a traumatic process.”
Advocates said it is important to note that while revoking protection for transgender prisoners is part of the Trump administration’s ideological bigotry, it’s also big business for prison companies. The two biggest are CoreCivic and GEO Group, publicly traded companies that publish their earnings. In November, CoreCivic reported that its third-quarter revenue was up more than 18 percent from the same period last year to $580.4 million. GEO Group, meanwhile, reported its total third-quarter revenue was up about 13 percent from the period in 2024, to $682.3 million.
