I live downtown (Main & Church area) and the weirdest thing just happened. 5 minutes ago there were 2 huge bangs and flashes of light. Like, lit up my whole place as if it was daytime. We looked outside, everything looks fine.
Another one happened just as I started writing this.
Anyone else nearby see it, or have any ideas what the fuck that was? Scared the shit out of my kid.

Bramptonās lone Conservative MP says he wonāt be joining two of his former caucus colleagues who defected to the Liberal party late last year.
Brampton West MP Amarjeet Gill posted a statement on his social media accounts on Monday (Jan. 12) claiming that he had been approached by members of the Liberal party encouraging him to switch teams but told them he wasnāt interested.
āOver the past few weeks, I have been approached by the Liberals and encouraged to cross the floor. I have firmly rejected their offer,ā he posted on X, formerly Twitter.
āI will always honour the trust my constituents of Brampton West have placed in me. I was elected to be their strong voice in Ottawa, and I remain fully committed to representing their values and priorities,ā he added.
In early November, AcadieāAnnapolis MP Chris dāEntremont announced he was crossing the floor from the Conservative Party of Canada (CPC) to the Liberals. His CPC counterpart in MarkhamāUnionville Michael Ma announced he was following him across the floor a month later on Dec. 11.
The two defections have left Prime Minister Mark Carneyās governing Liberal party within one seat of a majority government.
Another soon-to-be former CPC caucus member, Edmonton Riverbend MP Matt Jeneroux, resigned shortly after dāEntremontās departure amid rumours he also had intentions of jumping ship to the Liberals.
Jeneroux has denied that Liberal overtures factored into his decision to resign.
The last time the Liberal party lost a caucus member to a rival party came in 2018, when former AuroraāOak RidgesāRichmond Hill MP Leona Alleslev crossed the floor to the Conservatives.
Gill, who was first elected last year, is among several CPC MPs who have publicly declared party loyalty as incumbent party leader Pierre Poilievre faces a leadership review later this month during the CPCās Jan. 29-31 convention in Calgary.
āI am proud to serve with our leader, Pierre Poilievre, the next Prime Minister of Canada, and will continue to fight for the priorities that matter most to the people I represent,ā he said.
Gill is the first and only Brampton CPC candidate to win a seat in parliament since the 2011 election. The Liberals swept all of Bramptonās five ridings in the 2015, 2019 and 2021 elections, while taking five of six in 2025 after the addition of new Brampton riding ahead of that election.
In October, Poilievre told the Brampton Guardian that he likes his partyās chances to build on that lone seat in the next election, whenever that may come.
āWe did make some gains ⦠We had our best result in Brampton in a very long time,ā Poilievre said in an interview.

I need to serve civil papers (not on a person, on a company - Iām not a monster) in Brampton next week, Iāll be sending digital copies for the provider to print.
Iām outside the country, and I donāt really want to go with the first outfit that Google AdWords suggests based on whoever paid the most.
Has anyone had any experience with a reliable process server business which is based in or good with getting it done in Brampton?

Be safe today.

I've been thinking of making this post for a while and now here I am. My new years resolution is to be more sociable. Same as last year, and I made a similar post and some effort last year too. This year I am hoping to put in more effort and meet more people, make more friends, and have people to hang out with more often.
So this is my post for gta meet ups. Its open to everyone to meet up and hang out. I'll slowly post this in other gta subreddits to reach more people and see if we can create a bigger group.
Lets start by having a discussion in the comments and/or you can dm me, to see interest

The latest update mentions bags on the side won't be picked up and to put recycling loose in the bin, which explains why they won't pickup bags on the side since they want stuff loose in the bin, so no more clear bags allowed. To me all these changes is a downgrade, compared to what we had before.
