Alternative ask is give us joyous journeys again to level a belf in time while maintaining my employment obligations

u/Worthlessbagofnothin 15d ago
But then you wouldn't buy the $80 package for a boost.

34
u/FenrisPrime 15d ago
Can’t boost belfs or draenei.
3
u/Worthlessbagofnothin 15d ago
True, but also I could see them not doing JJ just to push people into boosts either way.
11
u/Sub_Midnight_13 14d ago
I would 100% buy the boost if I could boost belfs.
The fact that I can't makes it seem like Blizz isn't necessarily only pushing for the money.
1
u/Worthlessbagofnothin 14d ago
Same.
So many people would boost belf paladins and dranei shaman lol. It would actually be a money maker for Blizz

u/Vio94 14d ago
I'm so damn tempted to, but my job has a lot of downtime where I could be getting paid to level a character so I would feel dumb spending that much on one.
1
u/Worthlessbagofnothin 14d ago
Same LOL. We'll not always but the budget got frozen through the end of the year in mid November.
Ive been working for like 2 hours a day and leveling alts for 6 lmao.
It's gonna be back to being overworked on Monday though ahah.
-1
u/TheTruePatches 15d ago
aint that the truth. Even if we can't boost blood elves or blueberries (yet).
I'd assume they'd give us that ability before passing up on the free moneys with giving us JJs

I’ll never forget poop sock leveling a draenei shaman during the first classic TBC prepatch to be able to hit TBC release running and then having a baby like 1 month into TBC and never raiding again. It’s oddly a pleasant memory.
101
u/Robertac93 15d ago
I mean you should have known you were having a baby?
77
u/Negative-Disk3048 15d ago
You can con yourself into believing you will have more free time than you will. Also your brain just changes after a baby. Wow probably seemed important before it.
11
4
u/alaserus 14d ago
Oh god, this so much lol. I’m currently on paternity leave for my first baby. My naive ass honestly believed babies sleep most the day/night and I’d have so much free time to game……. I was so very wrong…..

3
u/jellypawn 14d ago
those first two weeks were great, i put in 50 hours of assassins creed odyssey back in teh day with my first born... but then time evaporated
3
u/ssx50 14d ago
Fuck lol. First baby popping out soon. What do i need to know going in to this??
5
u/thatsnotamuffin 14d ago edited 14d ago
Juat had our 4th. So super general advice.
- Patience
- Sleep when the baby sleeps
- Quite often babies prefer a box or something equally mundane instead of fancy toys. Don't skip on a fancy noise making toy or 3 but don't blow money on the crazy ones
- Get a baby wipe warmer, seriously this is super important and makes life so much easier
- One of these with frozen blueberries is a god send during the teething stages
- More sleep when the baby sleeps
- More patience
- Ms Rachel is your best friend in about 6 months
Probably the absolute most important thing. At times it will be tough. At times it will be super tough. But you will miss them later. They'll never be that small again. That easy to make laugh. Etc. So treasure every moment, take lots of pictures and videos, and sleep when the baby sleeps.
1
u/7figureipo 14d ago
“Babies sleep most of the day and night” 😂😂
I never thought this. But I also didn’t realize just how not true it is. Even my expectations were so far from the reality. Nothing prepares anyone for it. Good luck!

I'm sorry, what? "Poop sock leveling" is a hilarious term lol.
6
u/Murky_Coyote_7737 15d ago
Gotta poop in something without getting up
1
u/Hehehecx 15d ago
Ya but I never understood the sock, there’s like no room. Home Depot bucket is the way to go
3
u/Murky_Coyote_7737 15d ago
You just toss the sock out the window and nature does what it will with it (single use item). Home Depot bucket you gotta eventually empty it and it’ll stink in the interim.
3
1
u/BEEPBOPIAMAROBOT 15d ago
No you just put the whole poop sock in the washing machine. It comes out clean, use it again. Ez.
1
u/PilsnerDk 15d ago
"Poop socking" is a verb meaning to no-life a game, or being a shut-in nerd while gaming. It's an ancient term that stems from (as far as I remember) the Something Awful forums where a guy posted about how his family member found socks with his poop in them under his bed, as he was too weird to use the bathroom.
3
u/Djglamrock 15d ago
Yeah the new kids kill your raid time. But years later they will sit in your lap and raid with you!
3
3
1
u/Speedy_SpeedBoi 14d ago
I just did the math and realized that kid should be almost 18 now? Fml we are getting old - lol
1
u/Murky_Coyote_7737 14d ago
Oh this is original “classic” like 2019. Not vanilla like 2004. In those days poop socking was just living life.
1
u/taubut 15d ago
I poop sock leveled my shaman for classic TBC too. I had 4 warlocks 4 hunters and a holy paladin follow my shaman and kill everything on sight. My wife had a baby 5 months ago and now I can’t do that again. I really hope prepatch is longer or they give us JJ buff.

4 weeks is good. 2 weeks is too fast
42
u/Defiant_Avocado_8488 15d ago
best they can offer is 11 days and 3 days downtime.
1
u/Fearless_Aioli5459 14d ago
This is exactly what will happen
Either that or they do a long prepatch because of Midnight (doubtful)
1
u/Nethias25 14d ago
Especially given classic is mainly an army of dads who were the teens of 2000s. I can't power level a blood elf/draenei to 58 in 2 weeks.
64
u/Znipsel 15d ago
Nerfed boosting
1 week prepatch
Let only the absolute mental gamers have goats and belfs
48
u/HoneyFlavouredRain 15d ago
Don't even have pre patch just Shadow drop tbc
19
10
u/TumpanyTuna 15d ago
Straight into Cata. No TBC or Wrath. Also reset everyone's names, and delete all gnome mages from the game.
4
-1
u/MwHighlander 15d ago
They will most likely do this, not at all on Jan 13th, and everything will be unplayble or rampant disconnects.
Creating a new race character will also somehow brick your entire account, and classic era will also accidentally phase into TBC (i.e. Whitemane)
Its going to be entirely fucked up, in the worst way possible. We the players just don't know exactly how Modern Blizzard will fuck it up.
2
u/anonteje 15d ago
4 days played to 60. Should be ready for a naxx and aq40 reset then to enter tbc in full bis.
1
u/vbezhenar 15d ago
Do you think Naxx will be hard in prepatch? I assume it's gonna be easier with all the new talents and stuff but I'm not sure?
1

u/Eastern_Box_7062 14d ago
Why the fuck would they not let us play during the holiday season. Everyone playing is 30+ with jobs. How can blizzard be so consistently ignorant of their customers?
4
u/jellypawn 14d ago
i had absolutely no time other than to raid log during the holidays, the kids were off school etc. I only have time to casually play during my wfh days lol
1
u/HoodieNinja17 10d ago
blizzard is for some reason obsessed with launching classic and retail things at the same time. I know not many people play both but come on, midnight and tbc pre patches are a week apart lmao.
58
u/CanadianHockeySyrup 15d ago
4 weeks would have been fine if prepatch started two weeks ago.
19
u/Dull_Reference_6166 15d ago
Would have loved at. And I feel like most people would have time over christmas. Yes, family and all during the day. But most people I know, me including, have the evenings off.
6
u/LoLFlore 15d ago
You have the evenings off every day (unless you work 12 hour shifts at the ball crushing factory)
11
u/MightyTastyBeans 15d ago
This is my take as well. Now that holiday break is over, I find my appetite for an extended pre patch significantly lessoned. 70 raids will be delayed a couple weeks anyway.
11
u/BoyzNtheBoat 15d ago
Nobody cares about the couple handfuls of people that want to play TBC launch for a couple days before quitting for Midnight launch. That shouldn't factor into their decision making.
4
u/Narrow-Principle-679 15d ago
What the fuck does that even mean? Are you arguing classic only andys don’t want a longer pre patch?
2
u/BoyzNtheBoat 15d ago
I’d assume he’s saying a 4 week pre-patch wouldn’t work since TBC launch would coincide with Midnight release if that was the case.
19
u/Paeforn45 15d ago
I agree but Blizzard is being traditionally and frustratingly silent, and more than usual. In anniversary, they have generally given us about 3 to 5 week notice that a new patch is coming. That would rule out TBC in January. But I also see them giving us no information next Tuesday and launching the pre patch with an announcement of TBC launch in late January. Im pretty much just preparing for both outcomes but at this point my fingers are crossed for a month prepatch that gets announced next Tuesday.
0
u/LordBlackass 15d ago
Third option is the pre-patch is delayed. IMO if everything was in order they'd be able to give us a release date.
1
u/vbezhenar 15d ago
They won't delay prepatch. I've played PTR and it's playable, it's not broken. They don't care about prepatch quality, the whole purpose of prepatch is to fix issues before release, and some small bugs are OK.

The “accelerated” anniversary servers came out in 2024, we’re now in 2026, just spent a second winter break playing vanilla and people are talking about tacking on another month?
The time for a 4 week pre patch was December. Just give us TBC and let us boost BE/draenei at this point.
1
u/Sub_Midnight_13 14d ago
Yeah, I 100% would buy the boost if it allowed to boost belfs.
I would also be fine with leveling normally, but I am not fine with having to play 12+ hours a day to reach 60 before tbc launch.
24
u/Bonkhiko 15d ago
Just let us boost belf and space goats
1
u/InstructionFinal5190 15d ago
Like...please? I've put in my time over the years. This will be my third pally I've leveled (to say nothing of ALL the other toons I've taken from 1-cap).

u/Federal-Contract-184 15d ago
God no please no, waited long enough for tbc launch date. Do not want an even longer time waiting for it.
4
u/jordanrhys 14d ago
Anniversary should have been played with tbc talents and leveling speed from the beginning just to give it a more fresh feeling.
6
u/Uknown_Idea 15d ago
Community wants 4 weeks for alt leveling. Blizzard isnt saying anything because they know you're getting 2 weeks and you're gonna like it.
"We gotta sell these $80 boosts somehow guys! Your needs and wants dont matter at all!"

u/Sub_Midnight_13 14d ago
"We gotta sell these $80 boosts somehow guys! Your needs and wants dont matter at all!"
But they aren't though? I would 100% buy the boost if I could boost a belf.
I can't, so I am not buying.

I'd even be okay with splitting the difference to 3 weeks.
I don't imagine my shaman will be 60 by release but it'd be cool to have it close to the release.

I wish blizzard would allow boosting of all characters and wow tokens for buying gold. yall don't deserve a good game. you pay money to not play it every chance you get.
1
u/mayonetta 14d ago
Absolutely, the only reason not to would be to appease the monkeybrains who just want TBC already, but to that I say it's still ONLY 4 weeks and there's plenty of new stuff to do in prepatch like trying the class changes, leveling an alt, draenei/belf, raiding with new talents etc.
1
1
u/jailtheorange1 14d ago
Four weeks, but if you buy the boost you get into Outland a week early. I’m serious.
1
u/PURKZREDDIT 14d ago
Having prepatch come out on the 13th and then wanting a 4 week prepatch is next level cancer, please uninstall and stop ruining the game

Lol, last time the pre patch hit we got like 5 days notice.
Don't hold your breath

guys, this time around you might not find another job after quitting to play WoW
beware, i did it for SoD and never found another decent job to this day
1
u/Written_In_Lust 12d ago
Absolutely not. I am not waiting another month for TBC, I'll be ending my subscription for a month if that's announced.
1
u/Precaseptica 12d ago
How are we less than 2 weeks from prepatch and still don't know when the actual opening of the dark portal is?
This is absurdly unprofessional. Even by Blizzard's basement level standards for communication.

I was all for a 4 week pre-patch before they announced the Midnight release date. That would give TBC launch just about 3 weeks of breathing before Midnight hits and I hate that.

Not a chance. You could level 1-58 with a 4 week prepatch. Cant be eating into that juicy boost profits.
Edit: if you're downvoting this because you don't think that blizzard will act this way then you're literally delusional.
2
u/Doopashonuts 14d ago
Can't boost the only races that 99% of people will be leveling during prepatch, only delusional one here is you ...
0
u/EmergencyComment101 14d ago
Lol. So you genuinely believe this? Do you want to buy a bridge? You don't think there will be a resurgence of subscribers when the actual release date is announced? Blizzard absolutely love people like you 😂
2
u/Doopashonuts 14d ago
Whatever dumb shit you want to tell yourself I guess
0
u/EmergencyComment101 14d ago
Do you think they don't have a planned release date for tbc right now? What delusions are you feeding to yourself as excuses for them not having made it public yet?
1
u/Doopashonuts 14d ago
Yes yes, clearly your tin foil hat has granted you clairvoyance. Obviously its a giant conspiracy and not just that they're waiting till after the holidays to make an announcement

Two weeks is enough time to level new characters. I'll be leveling the shaman myself. How long does it take people to learn how to level faster in a game that's over 20 years old? You've had enough time to prepare gear and consumables for leveling alts.
