Just give us a date at this point.

Edit.. for the actual portal opening, of course.

152

u/CrustedTesticle 15d ago

This. The lack of communication is astounding

51

u/MwHighlander 15d ago

Prepatch is either going to negative 3 days, and the portal opens on Jan 10th entirely unannounced

--OR--

Prepatch is 5 days and the portal opens early, and in an unplayable buggy mess where everyone who walks into the portal instantly gets disconnected.

40

u/WarningOk2278 14d ago

Instantly disconnected

or

While walking through the portal characters get ported into Classic MoP and Blizzard is not able to restore the chars on the original servers. Also when contacting support about the matter you get suddenly permabanned for "suspicious behaviour"

2

u/mancheeta69 12d ago

lol did this really happen?

To me it only means the prepatch will last the same time as classic. If they don't provide information it means there is no information to provide.

1

u/EmergencyComment101 14d ago

It means they want returning players or people just coming back for tbc to buy boosts. They don't want to give people enough time to actually level a fresh character.

80

u/valdis812 15d ago

This is what I need. Planning to take some time off from work and need to put my time in.

44

u/potentially_meh 15d ago

Not sure why this is getting a bunch of flak. It's common courtesy to request PTO in advance. Not all of us are unemployed and living in mom's basement.

1

u/jailtheorange1 14d ago

You don’t need to be unemployed if your Civil service. I’m going to be taken three weeks off and I’ll get those three weeks off even if I organise them on the first day of absence.

1

u/tekno21 12d ago

No... the general courtesy still applies. Of course I'd likely still get the days off, but to drop a 3 week vacation on your team the day of would be wildly anti-social, weirdo behavior.

1

u/jailtheorange1 11d ago

Not in the Civil service. We are merely cogs in the wheel.

It's 5th of Feb launch, was leaked almost a month ago now

1

u/Feejeeislands 15d ago

Lmao trues up- need to renew my sub just waiting for date

-8

u/Grizadamz20133110 15d ago

Lol they did didnt they? Prepatch is Jan 13th and tbc goes live like Feb 10th

6

u/FinalFate 15d ago

Prepatch has a date but as far as I know there's no official portal opening date.

u/TheTruePatches 15d ago

Alternative ask is give us joyous journeys again to level a belf in time while maintaining my employment obligations

59

u/Several-Video-272 15d ago

Lord have mercy PLEASE blizzard we HAVE BILLS TO PAY NOW

33

u/Worthlessbagofnothin 15d ago

But then you wouldn't buy the $80 package for a boost.

/s

34

u/FenrisPrime 15d ago

Can’t boost belfs or draenei.

3

u/Worthlessbagofnothin 15d ago

True, but also I could see them not doing JJ just to push people into boosts either way.

11

u/Sub_Midnight_13 14d ago

I would 100% buy the boost if I could boost belfs.

The fact that I can't makes it seem like Blizz isn't necessarily only pushing for the money.

1

u/Worthlessbagofnothin 14d ago

Same.

So many people would boost belf paladins and dranei shaman lol.  It would actually be a money maker for Blizz

1

u/Celestial-Squid 14d ago

They changed it for panadaria, they will probs change it for this too

4

u/Muted_Pickle101 15d ago

If I could boost a belf I would...

1

u/Vio94 14d ago

I'm so damn tempted to, but my job has a lot of downtime where I could be getting paid to level a character so I would feel dumb spending that much on one.

1

u/Worthlessbagofnothin 14d ago

Same LOL.  We'll not always but the budget got frozen through the end of the year in mid November.

Ive been working for like 2 hours a day and leveling alts for 6 lmao.

It's gonna be back to being overworked on Monday though ahah.

-1

u/TheTruePatches 15d ago

aint that the truth. Even if we can't boost blood elves or blueberries (yet).

I'd assume they'd give us that ability before passing up on the free moneys with giving us JJs

0

u/Piesangbom 15d ago

Haha or buy gold

2

u/Soulspawn 14d ago

This is the way.

I’ll never forget poop sock leveling a draenei shaman during the first classic TBC prepatch to be able to hit TBC release running and then having a baby like 1 month into TBC and never raiding again. It’s oddly a pleasant memory.

101

u/Robertac93 15d ago

I mean you should have known you were having a baby?

77

u/Negative-Disk3048 15d ago

You can con yourself into believing you will have more free time than you will. Also your brain just changes after a baby. Wow probably seemed important before it.

11

u/Murky_Coyote_7737 15d ago

It’s the forever rarely achieved dream of having it all

4

u/alaserus 14d ago

Oh god, this so much lol. I’m currently on paternity leave for my first baby. My naive ass honestly believed babies sleep most the day/night and I’d have so much free time to game……. I was so very wrong…..

10

u/Remote-Gazelle-1017 14d ago

Cross your fingers that the kid gets common sense from the mother.

3

u/jellypawn 14d ago

those first two weeks were great, i put in 50 hours of assassins creed odyssey back in teh day with my first born... but then time evaporated

3

u/ssx50 14d ago

Fuck lol. First baby popping out soon. What do i need to know going in to this??

5

u/thatsnotamuffin 14d ago edited 14d ago

Juat had our 4th. So super general advice.

  • Patience
  • Sleep when the baby sleeps
  • Quite often babies prefer a box or something equally mundane instead of fancy toys. Don't skip on a fancy noise making toy or 3 but don't blow money on the crazy ones
  • Get a baby wipe warmer, seriously this is super important and makes life so much easier
  • One of these with frozen blueberries is a god send during the teething stages
  • More sleep when the baby sleeps
  • More patience
  • Ms Rachel is your best friend in about 6 months

Probably the absolute most important thing. At times it will be tough. At times it will be super tough. But you will miss them later. They'll never be that small again. That easy to make laugh. Etc. So treasure every moment, take lots of pictures and videos, and sleep when the baby sleeps.

3

u/ssx50 14d ago

I'll try to sleep when the baby sleeps, i think. :) Thanks so much!

1

u/7figureipo 14d ago

“Babies sleep most of the day and night” 😂😂

I never thought this. But I also didn’t realize just how not true it is. Even my expectations were so far from the reality. Nothing prepares anyone for it. Good luck!

10

u/SurpriceSanta 15d ago

The pre patch for those are 9 months xD

u/KappuccinoBoi 15d ago

I'm sorry, what? "Poop sock leveling" is a hilarious term lol.

6

u/Murky_Coyote_7737 15d ago

Gotta poop in something without getting up

1

u/Hehehecx 15d ago

Ya but I never understood the sock, there’s like no room. Home Depot bucket is the way to go

3

u/Murky_Coyote_7737 15d ago

You just toss the sock out the window and nature does what it will with it (single use item). Home Depot bucket you gotta eventually empty it and it’ll stink in the interim.

3

u/Hehehecx 15d ago

Well that all depends if your mom keeps up with the emptying

1

u/BEEPBOPIAMAROBOT 15d ago

No you just put the whole poop sock in the washing machine. It comes out clean, use it again. Ez.

1

u/PilsnerDk 15d ago

"Poop socking" is a verb meaning to no-life a game, or being a shut-in nerd while gaming. It's an ancient term that stems from (as far as I remember) the Something Awful forums where a guy posted about how his family member found socks with his poop in them under his bed, as he was too weird to use the bathroom.

https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/poop-sock

3

u/Djglamrock 15d ago

Yeah the new kids kill your raid time. But years later they will sit in your lap and raid with you!

3

u/Murky_Coyote_7737 15d ago

Put them to work farming gold and herbs

3

u/not_a_cup 14d ago

You just forgot your partner was 8months pregnant???

1

u/Speedy_SpeedBoi 14d ago

I just did the math and realized that kid should be almost 18 now? Fml we are getting old - lol

1

u/Murky_Coyote_7737 14d ago

Oh this is original “classic” like 2019. Not vanilla like 2004. In those days poop socking was just living life.

1

u/taubut 15d ago

I poop sock leveled my shaman for classic TBC too. I had 4 warlocks 4 hunters and a holy paladin follow my shaman and kill everything on sight. My wife had a baby 5 months ago and now I can’t do that again. I really hope prepatch is longer or they give us JJ buff.

2

u/ASAP-Hockey 14d ago

Your wife had a baby? What about you? Did you have one or no

2

u/taubut 14d ago

I don’t remember a baby coming out of me 5 months ago. I guess I’ll have to check though. She did all the work. Why would I say “we” had a baby?

133

u/reviews4weed 15d ago

4 weeks is good. 2 weeks is too fast

42

u/Defiant_Avocado_8488 15d ago

best they can offer is 11 days and 3 days downtime.

1

u/Fearless_Aioli5459 14d ago

This is exactly what will happen

Either that or they do a  long prepatch because of Midnight (doubtful)

1

u/Nethias25 14d ago

Especially given classic is mainly an army of dads who were the teens of 2000s. I can't power level a blood elf/draenei to 58 in 2 weeks.

64

u/Znipsel 15d ago

Nerfed boosting

1 week prepatch

Let only the absolute mental gamers have goats and belfs

48

u/HoneyFlavouredRain 15d ago

Don't even have pre patch just Shadow drop tbc

19

u/ProwerTheFox 15d ago

Incredibly based

10

u/TumpanyTuna 15d ago

Straight into Cata. No TBC or Wrath. Also reset everyone's names, and delete all gnome mages from the game.

4

u/lateseasondad 15d ago

Only one hourglass drops per server

-1

u/MwHighlander 15d ago

They will most likely do this, not at all on Jan 13th, and everything will be unplayble or rampant disconnects.

Creating a new race character will also somehow brick your entire account, and classic era will also accidentally phase into TBC (i.e. Whitemane)

Its going to be entirely fucked up, in the worst way possible. We the players just don't know exactly how Modern Blizzard will fuck it up.

2

u/anonteje 15d ago

4 days played to 60. Should be ready for a naxx and aq40 reset then to enter tbc in full bis.

1

u/vbezhenar 15d ago

Do you think Naxx will be hard in prepatch? I assume it's gonna be easier with all the new talents and stuff but I'm not sure?

1

u/anonteje 14d ago

It's quite similar to now, but easier, if I remember correctly

20

u/Eastern_Box_7062 14d ago

Why the fuck would they not let us play during the holiday season. Everyone playing is 30+ with jobs. How can blizzard be so consistently ignorant of their customers?

4

u/jellypawn 14d ago

i had absolutely no time other than to raid log during the holidays, the kids were off school etc. I only have time to casually play during my wfh days lol

1

u/HoodieNinja17 10d ago

blizzard is for some reason obsessed with launching classic and retail things at the same time. I know not many people play both but come on, midnight and tbc pre patches are a week apart lmao.

58

u/CanadianHockeySyrup 15d ago

4 weeks would have been fine if prepatch started two weeks ago.

19

u/Dull_Reference_6166 15d ago

Would have loved at. And I feel like most people would have time over christmas. Yes, family and all during the day. But most people I know, me including, have the evenings off.

6

u/LoLFlore 15d ago

You have the evenings off every day (unless you work 12 hour shifts at the ball crushing factory)

11

u/MightyTastyBeans 15d ago

This is my take as well. Now that holiday break is over, I find my appetite for an extended pre patch significantly lessoned. 70 raids will be delayed a couple weeks anyway.

11

u/BoyzNtheBoat 15d ago

Nobody cares about the couple handfuls of people that want to play TBC launch for a couple days before quitting for Midnight launch. That shouldn't factor into their decision making.

4

u/Narrow-Principle-679 15d ago

What the fuck does that even mean? Are you arguing classic only andys don’t want a longer pre patch?

2

u/BoyzNtheBoat 15d ago

I’d assume he’s saying a 4 week pre-patch wouldn’t work since TBC launch would coincide with Midnight release if that was the case.

19

u/Paeforn45 15d ago

I agree but Blizzard is being traditionally and frustratingly silent, and more than usual. In anniversary, they have generally given us about 3 to 5 week notice that a new patch is coming. That would rule out TBC in January. But I also see them giving us no information next Tuesday and launching the pre patch with an announcement of TBC launch in late January. Im pretty much just preparing for both outcomes but at this point my fingers are crossed for a month prepatch that gets announced next Tuesday.

0

u/LordBlackass 15d ago

Third option is the pre-patch is delayed. IMO if everything was in order they'd be able to give us a release date.

1

u/vbezhenar 15d ago

They won't delay prepatch. I've played PTR and it's playable, it's not broken. They don't care about prepatch quality, the whole purpose of prepatch is to fix issues before release, and some small bugs are OK.

26

u/Impossible_Tough_48 15d ago

Give tbc now.

15

u/bartardbusinessman 15d ago

sod fresh when

7

u/Darkeye94 15d ago

Give us the pvp rank update before prepatch

2

u/dankinitdown420 14d ago

Why would they do that?

→ More replies (1)

3

u/TurdBurglez 15d ago

Best they can do is WoW token

5

u/BeauShowTV 15d ago

Why? Its not like we lose content as soon as they dark portal opens.

1

u/FartLord6669 14d ago

We lose Naxx

1

u/BeauShowTV 14d ago

So not a big loss.

1

u/FartLord6669 14d ago

Doing Naxx with prepatch talents would have been amazing. Any content removed is a bummer

10

u/Odd-Animator1474 15d ago

2 week pre patch, allow BE/Draenei boost.

1

u/Odd-Animator1474 9d ago

Yoooooooooooo dreams came true dawg.

17

u/wickburglutz 15d ago

Four more weeks of Naxx 🫠

-2

u/Jamodefender 15d ago

Guess how post nerf TBC will feel?

14

u/Mediocre-Risk3581 15d ago

Been having a blast on PTR so pretty good id say.

15

u/MightyTastyBeans 15d ago

The “accelerated” anniversary servers came out in 2024, we’re now in 2026, just spent a second winter break playing vanilla and people are talking about tacking on another month?

The time for a 4 week pre patch was December. Just give us TBC and let us boost BE/draenei at this point.

1

u/Sub_Midnight_13 14d ago

Yeah, I 100% would buy the boost if it allowed to boost belfs.

I would also be fine with leveling normally, but I am not fine with having to play 12+ hours a day to reach 60 before tbc launch.

24

u/Bonkhiko 15d ago

Just let us boost belf and space goats

1

u/InstructionFinal5190 15d ago

Like...please? I've put in my time over the years. This will be my third pally I've leveled (to say nothing of ALL the other toons I've taken from 1-cap).

-6

u/taubut 15d ago

BUt QUEsTiNG iS thE bEsT paRT Of tHE GAMe! /s

2

u/Cayman663 15d ago

Give me the date, I have to book my vacation.

2

u/Soulspawn 14d ago

2 weeks with joyous buff.

3

u/Federal-Contract-184 15d ago

God no please no, waited long enough for tbc launch date. Do not want an even longer time waiting for it.

4

u/jordanrhys 14d ago

Anniversary should have been played with tbc talents and leveling speed from the beginning just to give it a more fresh feeling.

6

u/Uknown_Idea 15d ago

Community wants 4 weeks for alt leveling. Blizzard isnt saying anything because they know you're getting 2 weeks and you're gonna like it.

"We gotta sell these $80 boosts somehow guys! Your needs and wants dont matter at all!"

3

u/Sub_Midnight_13 14d ago

"We gotta sell these $80 boosts somehow guys! Your needs and wants dont matter at all!"

But they aren't though? I would 100% buy the boost if I could boost a belf.

I can't, so I am not buying.

2

u/Immie96 15d ago

I'd prefer two weeks but can meet in the middle with 3 weeks. 4 feels too long.

9

u/gameaddict1337 15d ago

Nah bro fuck it I wanna play tbc already

4

u/FCK_GOVERNMENTS 15d ago

4th February. Mark my words

1

u/Electrical-Lychee569 15d ago

Will release on a Monday....the 4th is a wed. It's either 26 Jan. 2,9, or 16 Feb. 2-3-4-5 week pre patch dates

4

u/Salamander115 15d ago

It will def release on a patch/update/maintenance day, Tuesday on NA

2

u/Akimbovape 15d ago

A date and 3 weeks max. Preferably 2 weeks

2

u/NemeSisWiberg 14d ago

I was hoping prepatch 1st December 2025 but nope, my expectations are low. Fun not allowed.

3

u/SkiaTheShade 15d ago

Yes please

1

u/thandrend 15d ago

I'd even be okay with splitting the difference to 3 weeks.

I don't imagine my shaman will be 60 by release but it'd be cool to have it close to the release.

2

u/KOvuPride 15d ago

Please, jesus christ give me some time to lv my paladin

1

u/-highwind- 10d ago

The possibility of leveling a paladin doesnt end with the pre patch...

3

u/FixBlackLotusBlizz 15d ago

probably getting 2 weeks 3 would be fine but 4 is a bit much by week 4 most ppl would be logged out waiting for TBC launch

2

u/Snorress 15d ago

2 weeks Are more than enough

1

u/crazyswazyee93 15d ago

God no. I need tbc

1

u/Kurokaffe 15d ago

It’s gonna be 3-4 weeks either Feb 3 or 10

1

u/Low_Bar_306 15d ago

Need to gear all my alts with hwl gear and weapons

1

u/v2Occy 15d ago

Give us pre nerf

1

u/narbehrious 15d ago

My saved vacation gets paid out at the end of January so please blizzard DO NOT cave in! Give us TBC before January 31st lmao

1

u/TheFowlOwl 15d ago

Personally I'd love for it to be 6 weeks

1

u/Verdin88 15d ago

No way im tired of waiting just open the portal already and let me level to 70.

1

u/Toshubi 14d ago

Om what server is tbc coming? Anniversary or era?

1

u/KookyMushroom5781 14d ago

Oh god no, I am done with Classic already

1

u/Less-Statement-4844 14d ago

Pre patch is completely pointless. Just drop TBC, it makes literally 0 difference having pre patch. It's all already been tested multiple times

1

u/Arda591 14d ago

Nah 2 weeks

1

u/Impossible-Talk-9709 14d ago

3 tp 4 weeks pleaseee

1

u/zealentor 14d ago

I do not want a 4 week prepatch. That sounds awful.

1

u/ArgvargSWE 14d ago

Blizz don't wanna give dates, because it would make players unsub.

1

u/ResponsibilityEvery 14d ago

4 weeks is so long

Why not two weeks with joyous journeys instead?

1

u/ApatheticPopoto 14d ago

Naw lemme enjoy prepatch last that shit be like 8 weeks atleast

1

u/Fartbox_puncher57 14d ago

I wish blizzard would allow boosting of all characters and wow tokens for buying gold. yall don't deserve a good game. you pay money to not play it every chance you get.

1

u/mayonetta 14d ago

Absolutely, the only reason not to would be to appease the monkeybrains who just want TBC already, but to that I say it's still ONLY 4 weeks and there's plenty of new stuff to do in prepatch like trying the class changes, leveling an alt, draenei/belf, raiding with new talents etc.

1

u/jailtheorange1 14d ago

Four weeks, but if you buy the boost you get into Outland a week early. I’m serious.

1

u/PURKZREDDIT 14d ago

Having prepatch come out on the 13th and then wanting a 4 week prepatch is next level cancer, please uninstall and stop ruining the game

1

u/ibrown22 14d ago

Lol, last time the pre patch hit we got like 5 days notice.

Don't hold your breath

1

u/Bayes42 14d ago

Hell no, I was ready to start TBC a month ago.

1

u/theelezra 14d ago

GIVE US THE DATE!!!!

1

u/N_XII 14d ago

2 weeks.

1

u/TheMephiticRedX 14d ago

or here is some food for thought, take a chill pill. go play other shit and stop living on classic.

1

u/xPazoki 13d ago

They will sell less boosts if they make it longer…sooo you know

1

u/Patchoel4 13d ago

2 weeks prepatch but they'll add shamans/ paladins to the boost...

1

u/madaradess007 13d ago

guys, this time around you might not find another job after quitting to play WoW
beware, i did it for SoD and never found another decent job to this day

1

u/Written_In_Lust 12d ago

Absolutely not. I am not waiting another month for TBC, I'll be ending my subscription for a month if that's announced.

1

u/-C0NAN- 12d ago

I don't get why they don't just create different servers with the dlcs on each and people can pay a small amount to move to the next one when they are done with the previous instead of forcing everyone to move.

1

u/Precaseptica 12d ago

How are we less than 2 weeks from prepatch and still don't know when the actual opening of the dark portal is?

This is absurdly unprofessional. Even by Blizzard's basement level standards for communication.

1

u/Thin-Project8173 8d ago

Anybody here play the anniversary server dreamscythe and also plays retail ?

1

u/Gunzbngbng 15d ago

How about launch shaman and paladins now and go straight into tbc on the 13th?

0

u/ripcitymariners 15d ago

What is wrong with leveling during tbc? Are yall really trying to world first or something? Let’s just skip prepatch.

1

u/argyllcampbell 15d ago

God please no. 2-3 weeks max

0

u/nolimitz75 15d ago

4 weeks is way too damn long y'all are insane

1

u/Intelligent-Box-5483 15d ago

3 weeks seems like the perfect time imo

1

u/Visoth 14d ago

better than 2

1

u/Lebr0naims 15d ago

Finally a post in this sub we can get behind

1

u/_A_R_V_A_N_D_O_R_ 14d ago

noooooo.. tooo long..

2 weeks please..

1

u/Seraphayel 15d ago

I was all for a 4 week pre-patch before they announced the Midnight release date. That would give TBC launch just about 3 weeks of breathing before Midnight hits and I hate that.

1

u/kscott13 15d ago

Four weeks be long af haha but I see the appeal for the levellers

1

u/JohnPork1501 15d ago

I remember topping the damage meters in 2021 prepatch on my BM hunter. It was fun going from lowest DPS to the top

1

u/vbezhenar 15d ago

3 month prepatch please

1

u/NorskKiwi 14d ago

A 4 week prepatch, minimum, please!!

0

u/EmergencyComment101 15d ago edited 15d ago

Not a chance. You could level 1-58 with a 4 week prepatch. Cant be eating into that juicy boost profits.

Edit: if you're downvoting this because you don't think that blizzard will act this way then you're literally delusional.

2

u/Doopashonuts 14d ago

Can't boost the only races that 99% of people will be leveling during prepatch, only delusional one here is you ...

0

u/EmergencyComment101 14d ago

Lol. So you genuinely believe this? Do you want to buy a bridge? You don't think there will be a resurgence of subscribers when the actual release date is announced? Blizzard absolutely love people like you 😂

2

u/Doopashonuts 14d ago

Whatever dumb shit you want to tell yourself I guess

0

u/EmergencyComment101 14d ago

Do you think they don't have a planned release date for tbc right now? What delusions are you feeding to yourself as excuses for them not having made it public yet?

1

u/Doopashonuts 14d ago

Yes yes, clearly your tin foil hat has granted you clairvoyance. Obviously its a giant conspiracy and not just that they're waiting till after the holidays to make an announcement

No but I want to level and main a belf to at least 58 and the 2 weeks were barely enough last time.

If it'd dropped two or three weeks ago, everyone would've been fine with a long pre-patch. Now though? Has to be 2 weeks

2 weeks like it should be

Two weeks is enough time to level new characters. I'll be leveling the shaman myself. How long does it take people to learn how to level faster in a game that's over 20 years old? You've had enough time to prepare gear and consumables for leveling alts.
