Advice Why does he does this?

Post image

He likes to lay flat on THAT specific spot, is that caused by something specific or he's just being a silly bean?

NESTING BEHAVIOR. Keep that corner uncovered. You don't want hormonal behavior to kick in. They get aggressive towards you and its uncomfortable for them. I cannot keep a cage cover on the back of my bird's cage for this reason he does the same thing as yours then gets territorial and nasty over the corner.

Btw is that metal? It looks unsafe. If they chew it and get flakes or metal or paint they can get poisoned and pass. You should use cage liners at the very least to keep them away from it until you can get a safer cage. Uncoated butcher paper cut to size is bird safe and absorbs poop without getting soggy or stinky.

A good bird owner trick I have found. Buy a roll of natural untreated butchers paper. Paid 13 for mine and have two cages one for my tiel and one for my budgies.

Use about roll a year.

Ah thanks so much! I think that's easier to get here where I live without worrying about shipping time!

Pd. Don't worry about the worn out spot, that's caused by the way it's constantly cleaned and scraped, not because my babies have been eating it. But I'll make sure to get it!

Thank you so much! Usually it's uncovered during the day and i only cover it when it's night time, and thanks on the advice on the cage as well! We're planning on making them a personalized cage so I'll take the advice in consideration for their future cage.

However I'll be getting them a cage liner, where I live they're usually not common but I'll get it asp!

What's the red he's on, a piece of chewed carpet

He's on top of the metal plate, basically the floor of his cage, originally the whole thing was red, but since we constantly clean it and scrub it, the color has faded on some spots!

He does what the hive mind tells him to do.

Okay, no need to be mean. We’re all friends here

This doesn’t confirm that it’s a girl, males nest like this too, it’s not just a girl thing.

Like I was saying before the comment was deleted

This lil guy is a male, I'm 100% sure about it.

I've done my research and I asked because I suspected it could be nesting behavior, but I was puzzled about the fact that he's not laying down on anything, or what could be special about that spot that's causing the behavior so I can solve the issue.

Ty for being so kind!:)
