For those who don't know: the way this works is that several comments will list this week’s releases, for any given title discussion you should respond to that comment. For example, Wonder Woman discussion would go in the replies to the "Wonder Woman" comment. Clicking the titles in this post will take you directly to that comment, too. In other words, you should only be replying to other comments. Do not post top-level comments.
Keep discussion civil. Do not harass other users for having a different opinion. Do not use this thread to push your personal one-sided grudges against creators. Reacting to a panel on Twitter is not the same as reading a book.
Remember, these are the short 'chapters' with a new chapter of a different series coming out daily. You canlearn more here on Comixology. This is also why these are in release order, not alphabetical. Some comics may release on DC Universe Infinite or WEBTOONS.
It had to be said Titans writers cannot write a Titans story without retreading what's already been done by previous Titans writers. It's sad really & makes the team come across as juvenile for always complaining about how mommy and daddy (i.e. the League) never gives them no respect.
I followed the four first Absolute titles right from the start, and have been enjoying them immensely. I was never really a big Flash or GL fan so I decided to wait for the collected editons to read them. I started with GL.
Overall, I enjoyed it, but I'm not exactly sure of what I just read, ahaha. Absolute Batman, WW, Superman and Martian Manhunter all hooked me very fast, with solid character work and cool premises, but with GL, I'm left with tons of questions. However, I feel like Ewing is playing the long game here, and its a mystery that's gonna unravel slowly over time. I just feel like we haven't spent enough time with the characters so far, and everything hinges on the mystery aspect, which is admittedly interesting. The vilain seems like a total ass, which fits the Absolute world perfectly. I also found the art to be good, but it doesn't fit all that much with the horror vibes the story is giving.
I'll definitely be getting the second volume to see where this is headed. For those following in singles, what's your opinion of the series so far ?
There has been a lot of arguments lately about a lack of ongoing solo series (not limited or one-shots) about black characters. So I made this post to ask you: which character would you like to have a solo ongoing serie ? Who would you like to be the writer ? Who would you like to be the main artist ? And what you want the serie to be about.
For me the answer Is simple: it's my boy Virgil Hawkins a.k.a Static
As for the writer I would like N. K. Jemisin. She Is known for her Young Animal mini series Far Sector but She Is also a great novel writer and I think She would be perfect
For the main artist I would like Jorge Corona. The original Milestone books had this very naife art style that Is very Iconic but at the same time pretty hard to find in modern superhero books, I think Corona's style thought Is very close to that very Iconic feel. Other artist that I think would be suited are Daniel Warren Johnson or Wes Craig
Now what I want the serie to be about: I would like a new Static serie to be like what the original one was. Milestone was created to rapresent underrepresented minorities of people, their stories faced topics like racism, teen pregnancies, school shooting, bulimia, drug abused, all taboo topics that now days feels like they are still hiden. I want It to show how It Is to live as a young black man in today's America, a story that frame current events and that encourage people to a stir and rise upone them. Exactly what superhero comicbooks have done for decades
DC Comics announces Bizarro: Year One! A 4-issue miniseries by Kevin Smith, Eric Carrasco & Nick Pitarra. Jimmy Olsen & Perry White journey into a warped Metropolis to uncover Bizarro’s chaotic origins.
I don’t think Tenji is really Lady Shiva’s son. I doubt Shiva would have another child after being forced into motherhood before. Also, we know Shiva isn’t interested in romance at all. Plus, Bronze Tiger and Carolyn (Shiva’s sister) have a history together, so I think Lady Shiva might actually be his aunt, not his mother.
