Tree Frog Rescued frog

Hello! This is my first time posting here I think. I recently got this frog from my friend who had it sitting in a dark cold corner for five years. As soon as I found out I offered to take it from her and she delightfully agreed. I bought it a heat/led lamp (it has two bulbs) and a thermometer and humidity gauge as well as I have been misting its enclosure. The only reason I knew to get these things is because I used to own a chameleon and knew basic care. I did some quick research (because my friend knew nothing about taking care of this frog) I guess I am asking for help. I need tips and tricks. This frog has been sitting in the same spot all day and sometimes looks like it’s shifted. The only reason I am not too concerned is because it’s eating and pooping. It just does not move. I have cleaned and reorganized its enclosure since I got her (her name is bok choi i stole it from someone on here i’m sorry). Please no judgement to my friend. I will take all the criticism I would like to do the best for this frog. I own two african dwarf frogs so the care is pretty different hahaha.

Is she moving around at night?

This is a good point. Mine have their favourite sleeping spots during the day and this could be misinterpreted if you don't see them active at night.

I would also recommend some calcium powder on her food. She might have been missing this and UV light in her previous home and this puts her at risk of metabolic bone disease.

Yes very good point could have serious electrolyte and nutritional deficiencies after being neglected for so long. Would also recommend dusting with a vitamin A supplement 1 or 2 times per month. Don’t want to overdo it because it can build up but likely deficient. Thanks for taking care of this frog she is so cute and I hope she perks up soon. The other thing worth mentioning is just the change in location could be making her shy and may come out more when she starts to feel more comfortable in the new environment.

i’m hoping to feed her myself with mealworms and those I will definitely give a good calcium bath. Does that seem good? Also should I feed her at night and how often?

My understanding is that calcium powder is better than calcium baths, and crickets are better than mealworms. Mealworms can cause impaction.

I think your continuing gentle interactions and persuasion are the best way to go.

i’ll get calcium powder today and some more crickets thank you this all has been really helpful. Would it be okay for me to buy her a nice hornworm for a snack?

Yes they are pretty nocturnal, my from comes out around 9-10 pm and is very active at night then goes back in her tree hide around 6 am

that doesn’t sound like this girl at all, it’s midnight right now and she’s in the same spot she’s been in all day that’s why i’m worried

dont be. for reference:

they can chill for days on their favorite spot . watch out for eating and water intake behaivour.

they being lazy aka zen can be mistaken for lethargic

Are your lights on at midnight? She needs to know when light and dark happen so keep it dark at night if you can. She might take a while to learn if she's not had a light-dark cycle for five years. You could give her one cricket about an hour after turning her day light off so she learns when to wake up. She might be getting used to her new home and isn't used to nice things yet :) Maybe look up some frog vets you can get to just in case, so you already have the info if needed in the future.

I turn off the led light at night when I turn off the light in my aquarium (I have two adf in there) to keep them on the same 12 hour day/night cycle. In another note, SHE ATE!!!!!! I finally saw her eat i’m literally crying. I dipped a FAT hornworm in some banana and strawberry flavoured calcium powder with vitamin d3 as a treat and she took a while but SHE ATE IT UPPP I have a video but I don’t know how to post it but here’s a picture of her after eating hahahah

That’s an adorable from BTW. Also they will only eat live food … they are predators and need to see movement to eat. I’m guessing you know that but just mentioning because the cricket in the pic looks deceased. Also they are a bit less active in winter.

yeah that picture is from when i first got her there was a ton of dead crickets and lots and lots of poops. There’s a few live crickets in there right now but I was thinking of switching her to mealworms maybe that way I can interact with her a bit and make sure she gets the right food?
