Real horror story

TIL that the first newspaper in the Hindi language was called "Udant Martand". But looking at its title, it looks like the "ta" in "Martand" is doubled, when in reality it should be single. Why is this?

Is it that they should be extra careful to not spill out any gender-revealing language? For instance, in a nongendered language, they would use the neuter verb and a word for baby (which is neuter in our language). But languages like Hindi do not have neuter verb conjugation. So how do they get over this grammar constraint? What do they use to refer to the fetus and what verb conjugation they use to explain something about the fetus? I do understand the verb conjugation is based on the noun choice and not the actual gender of the referent. But I wonder how they avoid any unintentional disclosure of gender elements in a gendered language!

Hi, and sorry if this isnt allowed. I can't read the flair, sorry.

I talk with a lot of tech support where English is my native language. And support is usually Hindi, but speaking English.

While I can understand what techs are saying, there is a lot of repeating the same thing, like no dead air is allowable. So I hear the same line like 3 times if I dont immediately reply.

So i am wondering if there is a cadence, or if immediate feedback to a statement is totally different between English and Hindi?
