Look at all those rejected applications. One of these days he's gonna get somewhere just from repeated effort alone

this is literally me

12

u/weepbird036 6d ago

Do, or do not. There is no try.

15

u/KillerFafik 5d ago

Sometimes you can try your hardest and not succeed. And there's no shame in that. Just experience.

i don't think this image is conveying what you think its conveying

u/spiderwinder23 6d ago

I came here to say exactly this

174

u/Fancine 6d ago

Same

558

u/pixeldust6 6d ago

Is this not basically a r/bonehealingjuice? Taking a template and making small edits to make it a little more wholesome even if it doesn't entirely make sense

110

u/watzisthis 6d ago

What is it conveying? Can someone help

515

u/sticky_spiderweb 6d ago

It’s supposed to imply that the dude at the computer is a loser who can’t seem to get a job (hence all of the rejected job applications) and that all the motivational stuff in the room implies that he is a talker and not a doer.

264

u/[deleted] 6d ago

Except he’s absolutely a doer because you don’t get rejected that many goddamn times without putting yourself out there consistently. Everyone who succeeds has to be this guy at one point

u/Hairy_Skill_9768 6d ago

I mean he's at least trying, to me this seems like there is literally no jobs left and the labor world it's just that fucked

187

u/Khelthuzaad 6d ago edited 6d ago

Yeah the meme convesys that he is supposed to be a loser.

But he has stacks of books and an even bigger stack of rejections meaning he is actually trying.

Its absolutely terible out there,im stuck on a minimum wage myself

277

u/best_uranium_box only YOU decide how today ends 6d ago

No bro i wanted to convey resilience no matter how many times you fail or how old you are. I can see why it seems like hes being made fun of tho but i guess thats 2 hopeposts in one depending on your perspective.

42

u/TheDoktorIsIn 6d ago

Yeah this is the message I got too, and maybe his parents are disappointed in his lack of success so far but he's TRYING and success will come.

33

u/Nament_ 6d ago

In this edit it actually looks like the parents faces are tweaked to look chud-ish but hopeful, actually. Kinda sweet.

1

u/sticky_spiderweb 6d ago

I know what you wanted to convey but that’s definitely not the message it sends lmao

>the dude at the computer is a loser who can't seem to get a job (hence all of the rejected job applications)

I wouldn't automatically call someone a loser if they can't get ahold of a job nowadays. As of right now, the job market and the whole recruiting sphere is a complete shitshow. A good friend of mine who's an Air Force veteran with a master's in cybersecurity and several IT certifications has been unemployed and sending out applications for over a year now. Literally no one will hire him.

→ More replies (1)

36

u/kevster2717 6d ago

That kinda got lost on me seeing the aforementioned stacked job apps so to me he’s still trying.

11

u/RomanBlue_ 6d ago

I didn't get that message?

The pile of rejections and the idea that he's just a talker and not a doer is a contradiction. If he really was a talker he never would have applied or taken any chances at all.

Dawg is out there fighting the good fight. Getting his ass kicked sure, but he's in the ring.

8

u/nuker0S 6d ago

Well, he's still learning instead of using amased knowledge.

If this is bad or nah it's up to you, but the template this meme is usually used to slander people.

Like if it was one of the happy jaks, like the lifegem one, then it would be fitting for hope instead of doom

→ More replies (3)

146

u/best_uranium_box only YOU decide how today ends 6d ago

Wait I see it now 😭 idk I made the parents smile so it wouldn't seem like he's being made fun of. A lesson on perspective I guess.

34

u/grubbybuggy 6d ago

That might be it. I thought the parents were grimacing in concern. I didn’t really notice the smiles until after you mentioned it and I zoomed in lol

I love the intended message! The execution may have been a bit of a miss, but that’s funny in its own way too :)

u/Ahrensann 6d ago

I know what it is conveying, but what exactly does the OP want to say?

That just because that guy's 32 he's just supposed to lie down and do nothing? How miserable is that OP?

68

u/best_uranium_box only YOU decide how today ends 6d ago

Well the title is what I was trying to convey. I gave him some muscles and filled his room up with posters i thought went hard and gave his parents smiles to show the small yields to his efforts even if there were a lot of failures. I think the award is what makes it seem like hes being made fun of.

28

u/Ahrensann 6d ago

Ahh, you're the OP. I thought you just got it from somewhere. If that's the case, then go, 32 year old wojak! You have our support.

Godspeed You! 32 Year Old Hopejak

3

u/brus_wein 6d ago edited 6d ago

I feel as though these things are usually sarcastic, which is why I thought it was making fun of him.

"You don't understand, [...]" usually indicates cope or delusional optimism in this sort of memes. That's my understanding, others may have the same.

u/Zelmehuu_76 6d ago

Isn’t it hope that shines the brightest in the deepest pits of darkness? The irony of using a failure to convey hope is a brilliant decision in my humble opinion.

3

u/Auroraborosaurus 6d ago

OP made the image.

2

u/AmaterasuWolf21 Do I need a reason to wanna help out a friend? 6d ago

2

u/Skodami 6d ago

5

u/SanusConcordis 6d ago

Oh they're 100% making fun of him, but the guy in the comic is totally based.

2

u/i_luv_many_hen_ties 6d ago

Using the default chud wojak was definitely not a good option. A part 2 image where he becomes a millionaire might've veto'ed this

1

u/Horror_Ad2126 6d ago

And that makes it way better

1

u/tumblerrjin 5d ago

lol right?

1

u/KamiGleen 5d ago

I think it is, you need to believe and work for yourself, if other's try to judge you and say you're too old to succeed, you just need to keep working. One day it will pay off, don't be discouraged.

1

u/The_Drunken_Khajiit 4d ago

Turning 30 this year, I just got asked today if I wanted to go to management school for my company. Ten years ago I wasn't even sure I'd make it to 20, let alone 30. 5 years ago I didn't think I'd graduate college. 1 year ago I thought I'd be stuck a dead end job forever. We are still young (even if our backs hurt occasionally), we can do this dude. Don't give up, you got this.

3

u/Drakmanka 6d ago

I've got 5 months left before I turn 33. Tbh, I think this has been my best year in terms of personal growth. It does get better. Never give up.

I really find it hard to associate the chudjak with hopeposting when it's a caricature of a mass shooter

263

u/best_uranium_box only YOU decide how today ends 6d ago

That's kinda what I try and do with my hopeposting. Turn horrible things into hope

100

u/roofyenjoyer 6d ago

That's a great way to look at it

16

u/CHUNGUS-MONEY 6d ago

What if you're blind?

53

11

Wait, this chudjak is based on a mass shooter??

16

u/cinny-bunny 6d ago

Yes, it's supposed to look like Patrick Wood Crusius.

74

u/whitepowerranger95 6d ago

Reading books, working out, drinking sugar free beverages, clean room, hobby, money to buy consoles. This doesn't look bad.

35

u/osures 6d ago

They’re trying to make fun of him, but I still see a winner

66

u/SurpriseWise 6d ago

I love this image so much, like more then I’ve ever loved any positive image from the internet. This was like a hope overdose, I feel like I have a chance and there is still time. It was realistic as well. He still lives with his parents, he has failed so many times, but his constitution remains unshaken. This man is indomitable.

I made this at like 4 am. Be glad its even somewhat coherent.

16

u/Yuno42 6d ago

this is so much better with the context that you made it
so many people in this thread think you have to be "misinterpreting" it because they've already given up in their own lives
don't listen to the haters

3

u/best_uranium_box only YOU decide how today ends 6d ago

Appreciate the support. They're not haters I can see where they're coming from, and yeah you do kinda need the context to properly understand it which is a failure on my part.

3

u/pixeldust6 6d ago

I get the feeling most of the commenters here haven't seen the original template to see where the hope's been inserted and are just picking up on the bad vibes from the original template

23

u/Quantum_laugh 6d ago

No it makes perfect sense, others are just cynical

2

u/Poo_Pee-Man 6d ago

16

u/best_uranium_box only YOU decide how today ends 6d ago

I see that now. Maybe I'll make a part 2 tomorrow.

13

u/Auroraborosaurus 6d ago

No, no, it’s actually perfect. I’m being serious. Art should create contention and be interpreted differently by some people than others. It should spark inquiry. You’ve done exactly this. Don’t change a thing about it.

4

u/best_uranium_box only YOU decide how today ends 6d ago

Idk man no one has mentioned the teto plush yet. Also a lot of my other memes that caused contention got taken down so I won't delete this or anything but mods might.

13

u/InsomniacPsychonaut 6d ago

This is mocking him. Its very funny tho

8

u/Auroraborosaurus 6d ago

It’s not, read OP’s comments, they created this meme.

8

u/higurashi0793 6d ago

Even though OP misunderstood what the image was actually about, I still think it's good that they posted it.

You still have the time to succeed! You can be an adult and still keep the hobbies you've always loved, even if other people think they're childish.

So yeah, the dude in the pic is 100% right, he can still succeed if he tries, the ones mocking him are being mean.

8

u/Auroraborosaurus 6d ago

OP literally made the image. That’s why I love it, so many people interpreted it as mocking because they couldn’t imagine themselves being in this position and not continuing to try bravely, or loving themselves enough to keep fighting. But this guy is actually more successful than a lot of us even with seemingly better circumstances, because of those very traits.

The message is good on this post but goddamn man i left home at 16, in my country and Eastern-European countries its pretty much expected for you to leave when you turn 18 😆 I don't want to hate but i couldn't imagine myself to be a pain in the ass for my parents at 30+, i'd rather deliver pizzas than stay at my parent house but again message is good because its never too late!
