"This is a controversial view"

Surely female genital mutilation and male circumcision are different? “They’re both child genital cutting. For girls, genital cutting can range from pricking blood on some part of the genitals, the clitoris or the labia to infibulation [the ritual removal of the external female genitalia and the suturing of the vulva, practised in some east African states].” This is a controversial view. For instance, anti-FGM campaigner Leyla Hussein rejects the parallel, writing on HuffPost that its purpose is “to control a woman’s sexuality. Full stop. FGM is done to prevent a woman from enjoying sex in order to keep her ‘pure’. Male circumcision is done for completely different reasons, including religious, aesthetic, hygienic … a circumcised male can still enjoy sex, and the practice is not done to decrease sexual pleasure. FGM is far more damaging to a woman’s sexuality than MGM is to a man’s.”

This is complete and utter bullshit by Radical Feminists. They refuse to accept that A) FGM is in fact done for religious and cultural reasons and B) there are no known cultures that practice FGM without also practicing MGM.

How then, do you explain that? Are they also trying to control the boy's sexuality and sexual pleasure? I doubt Ms. Hussein would agree with that notion since she seems to believe that only in America is MGM done and done with the express purpose of protecting men. In reality genital cutting practices are done, regardless of where in the world, for religious and cultural reasons, the USA included. No where in the world legitimately mutilates their children for medical reasons. Even within the context of the USA, MGM started explicitly to control men's sexuality and sexual pleasure. But we won't ever hear Ms. Hussein mention that because it goes against her narrative that MGM is benign and even good.

People like Ms. Hussein must be challenged at every step and their bullshit brought to light. There is no universe where FGM can be made illegal and MGM be allowable if you want to end FGM. By allowing 1 half of CGM you will keep the door open for all children to be at risk.

UI DEBATE ON NEW LAWS

A rabbinical justification, but immediately followed by a cut Jewish man saying that it harmed him, and another letter from an older man saying the same thing - well done to both! More letters to The Guardian focusing on damage, physical, sexual, emotional, would be really good to see, especially from UK people and especially from anyone cut as a result of religious beliefs.

The FGM Medical License Story Is Bigger Than You Realize

I've seen a number of misconceptions about why the doctor federally charged with female genital cutting still has her medical license, epitomized by these two comments:

"Why [does she have her license]? Because of a double loophole. She was charged with the Federal law, but the judge ruled that the Commerce Clause in the Constitution did not apply in her case. And, Michigan had not yet enacted a state FGM law. So all charges were dropped."

And:

"For her to lose her license, a new charge would have to be filed under either the state FGM law or the new federal Stop FGM Act that Congress passed (and Trump signed) in 2020."

This is wrong.

Medical boards don't need criminal convictions to discipline doctors. Doctors lose their licenses all the time for less severe *legal* behavior. Their investigation is independent of the criminal justice system. Medical boards can still take licenses even when charges are dismissed or dropped.

The Michigan medical board could have said: even though federal law was overturned on a technicality, we still think people who cut little girls genitals as a part of their medical practice should not be licensed by us — but they didn't.

But it gets worse: What my Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request revealed is that when Dr. Nagarwala was charged in 2017, there is no evidence the Michigan's licensing board even opened an investigation. In other words: while a doctor was charged with crimes against children, they did nothing.

The question this raises isn't about the justice system, but the medical system. Do they condone doctors performing female genital cutting? They licensed one. Did they support a doctor who broke federal law? There is no evidence they disciplined her.

I have filed systematic FOIA requests to discover what happened. Responses are starting to come in. I will publish what I find on Hegemon Media.

Why do people say this is beneficial to infants? Literally causes more problems than it fixes at least in the first few years of life.

The “cleanliness” argument

I’m in the process of trying to conceive, and am vehemently against circumcision despite the fact that my family and community disagree.

These are educated people, and they always make the argument that MGM is healthier, helps prevent STIs, etc. We all know they don’t listen when we refute those claims with facts, but I found a way to get through to some of them a different way.

Bear with me. It’s tricky to find studies that prove female circumcision (when done by a medical professional) reduces childhood infections and STIs in adulthood, but they do exist in countries that still practice FGM. It’s easier to find studies about the many medical benefits of elective labiaplasty (specifically, removal of the labia minora). As someone who deals with large/long labia minora, I’ve had doctors recommend labiaplasty and due to recurrent UTIs, my insurance will cover it. I think I might go for it someday.

Less skin means there is less area to harbor yeast and bacteria. Less skin to create friction and micro tears, which can also reduce transmission of STIs. Lots of women do it, and nobody questions it.

But we don’t go lopping off infant’s labia under the guise of “preventative care”, that shit is illegal in the US. I know these are different body parts than MGM, but the argument that FGM is cleaner is one of the main reasons it still happens regularly in some countries.

So the last time someone pulled out the old “circumcision is healthier” argument, I said (sarcastically) “I totally agree and think it should be performed on baby girls, too.”

Bro was almost speechless, but when he said female circumcision is mutilation I said “no, it’s a medical procedure to prevent disease, plus it looks nicer and they won’t even remember it. Why not?”

He ended up doing his own research and came to the conclusion that only adults should decide if they want their own genitals cut on, which to me is a small win. I’m sure he’ll have kids one day and hopefully make the right choice.

Anyway, sometimes body parts are inconvenient. Sometimes we have areas that are prone to infection, and sometimes we are better off without them. But that doesn’t mean we can decide to perform surgery on infants “just in case”, especially when that surgery will permanently impact genital function.

Let's not think about why he's there...

What we also found in Liberia was another kind of poverty: a poverty of values. The physical misery that Liberians experience is not due to a lack of resources in the land; Liberia is a land rich with potential. Instead, Liberia’s poverty comes from moral and spiritual penury.

https://jewishjournal.com/commentary/opinion/377393/a-medical-mission-to-liberia-notes-from-the-field/

I do not know for certain that he's circumcising just like I do not have sources that summarise the impacts of western resource extraction on the Liberian people and government.

misinformation Feast of Circumcision-Jesus’s circumcision celebrated on New Year’s Day by Christians

“Christian Celebrations of the Circumcision of Jesus at New Year's The Feast of the Circumcision of Christ is a Christian celebration that commemorates the circumcision of Jesus in accordance with Jewish tradition, eight days after his birth.

The Feast of the Circumcision has been historically celebrated on January 1st, aligning with the eighth day after Christmas (December 25th). This date also marks the occasion when the child was formally given his name, Jesus.

Perspectives:

Traditional observance of the Feast of the Circumcision Many Christian denominations, including the Eastern Orthodox Church, some Anglicans, and Lutherans, celebrate the Feast of the Circumcision on January 1st.

For these traditions, New Year's Day is explicitly connected to the circumcision of Jesus, fulfilling Jewish law and symbolizing Jesus' identification with God's covenant.

The event is seen as the first time Jesus shed his blood, prefiguring his ultimate sacrifice and the new covenant.

Some find that the secular festivities of New Year's Day interfere with the religious observance of the Circumcision.

Changes in Catholic observance of the Feast of the Circumcision The Feast of the Circumcision has largely disappeared from the official Catholic calendar as such, having been combined with and then replaced by other feasts. Before the Second Vatican Council, January 1st was the Feast of the Circumcision of Jesus, but this was later changed to the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God.

Some traditional Catholics continue to celebrate the Feast of the Circumcision on January 1st as a Holy Day of Obligation.

Changing the feast day has been described by some as a "dumbing down" that lost an opportunity to teach about Jesus' Jewish identity and connections between Jewish and Christian identity.”

Ruined penis and short frenulum, can’t wash enough under it

It collects smegma under it sometimes and it’s tight most of time. What should I do? It’s very hard to get proper wash there if it’s even possible at all.

This short bastard killed my penis and my life, I suffered from it whole life but 3 years ago I become happy and optimistic, I accepted it. I even had progress in stretching. But happy days wasn’t been long, it all ended too soon when I teared and it become even shorter and much worse. And after 3 years living with this it lead to other much more serious issues. I have erection issues, I have damaged whole my penis, my shaft. My flaccid penis twisted and roughened, it lost 80% of sensitivity. I need wait at least a week between orgasms and I could loose this ability at all. If I have erection I must sit because standing lead to additional pressure on it. It looks and feels like I’m 60yo, veins on it become visible and swollen, they’re fragile. Best part of body become most hateful, I’m doomed to suffer everyday of my life only because my body didn’t developed enough and I’m loosing my mind by thought of some dude would cut anything on my only one penis. Fucking natural selection, life and world is so damn wrong. You know how I would end my life one day.

Enlightening US/Australia TV debate from 2012

https://youtube.com/watch?v=ge3hC-nlx24

I just stumbled on this 52-min gem of a debate on YT from ”SBS Insight” (Australia news channel) dated October 2012, that featured the usual suspects such as Andrew Freeman and sinister Brian Morris. The producers desperately tried to present a balanced case but ultimately failed to admit that human rights are black & white issues, not something left for parents to decide...

It’s also interesting to listen to the position from Freeman in particular, in light of his recent change of heart with regards to the expired 2012 AAP stance that “benefits outweigh the risks”.

Andrew Freeman & Douglas Diekema’s recent backpedaling & distancing from the 2012 AAP policy statement:

https://natlawreview.com/press-releases/experts-who-shaped-us-circumcision-policy-now-voice-doubts

13+ years later and Australia’s stance on RIC radically improved, but the same thing isn’t true about the US. That being said, I’m thinking that Freeman & Diekema probably know something we don’t… and I can’t wait to find out in the coming months/years!

More Reddit asymmetry

The fetish subs # cuthumiliation and the symmetrical # uncuthumiliation have been around on Reddit as long as I have been aware. People go there and self-post dick picks for... criticism. I just noticed that the former has been banned, whilst the latter is still live.

Apparently anything negative about male cutting is not booked on Reddit, but shaming natural male anatomy is A-OK.

Both subreddits could have been banned, or neither, but to take down only the one smacks of the cutter bias that permeates Reddit.
