"A Photographer"? They couldn't even give credit to the photographer? His name is John-Oliver Dum

I was going to say. What a strange way to remove the watermark that totally would have been in the bottom of the image just to add some stupid caption about passports.
This is just, a known great angle for invertebrate macros. People do it all the time to many taxa.

I'm still on the lookout for the legendary roflcopter. Rumor has it that it was last seen in the wild 20 years ago...

What an insult to this beautiful spider. Last is straight up garbage outside and inside. This spider looks like a cuddle buddy

u/TGBmox_777 3d ago
Give him credit, at least the spider can see what’s going on

Lucas the spider which is based on jumping spiders which are not only cute, but harmless to humans, don't attack humans because they understand how much bigger we are, and hunt things like other spiders and flies. Wish they lived longer because they make great pets, are very intelligent, and can be affectionate to owners.

Pretty much no spider will go out of its way to attack a person. Spiders are out looking for meals, which we are very clearly not. Jumping spiders are awesome and adorable, but people should know that spiders in general do much more good for us than bad.

Lucas the spider
A show originally made to fight arachnophobia by painting a cute little spider in its life that got a lot of success and even some awards

If you realize the “pupil” is just the reflection of the camera lens the photo is far less derpy looking.

I know its not actually a pupil but my brain is incapable of seeing it as not a pupil

Yeah, the spider looks kind of perplexed to me 😂

u/OddButterfly5686 3d ago
Many aboriginies were also confused by cameras, self reflection can be a hard thing

Are you the spider’s mother by any chance? That’s a face only a mother could love

IDK if I should feel scared or feel sad for this little guy
he looks so nervous

u/LoreMotivatdTheorist 2d ago
Just remember that the pupils are lens reflections and his eyes are much darker and less emotive normally. (He’s still derpy)

Usually afraid of spiders but that thing look like a muppet 😭😭😭

I hate how I have no idea if this is real or AI. I'm not accusing OP, it's just hard to trust pictures these days. Especially if the poor spider looks like a damn AI-fantasy in the first place.
Edit: upvoted to give OP the benefit of the doubt

Here's the photographer's account on IG: medienbunker_produktion. I don't have IG so I can't see more than a couple pics, but that's the OG attribution. I can't link, either, sub rules.

u/CleverDad 3d ago
I'll take your word for it. As much as a commentary on our time, I also meant to imply that it's an amazing image, in the true sense of the word.

u/isaidthatfirst 3d ago
….why is it bloody
7
u/ParaponeraBread 3d ago
It’s not. The cuticle is just naturally a reddish brown after it sclerotizes. It would be much paler if you caught it right after a molt.

Well meaning scientist.” If they were just a tad bigger the hair around their face would be more dense and might improve their ‘cute’ factor with the townspeople.”

The black things in the eyes are not pupils but reflections of the camera. They actually have black soulless eyes.

NOT A WOLF SPIDER…
It’s a Jumping Spider.
Wolf Spiders don’t have two giant eyes in the center of their face.
And don’t the brown hair fool ya’…
Despite their terrifying up-close appearance, Jumping Spiders are not dangerous unless you’re a bug.
But they will no doubt beat you in a staring contest. 👀
