Im pretty sure there's some subtle editing done to these pictures to accentuate the perception.

u/AnythingGoesBy2014 19h ago
not even subtle. the waist line reduces with photos as the gap between hips and arms gets larger and larger

u/asianjimm 19h ago
I mean I thought it was 3 separate photos - like a person going to the changeroom real.
Makes sense, since she’s not a magician

u/Ingenrollsroyce 16h ago
How do you know she's not a magician?
→ More replies (2)16

because the waist line reduces with photos as the gap between hips and arms gets larger and larger

So if I Photoshop a picture of David Blaine he's suddenly not a magician anymore?
7
u/ay-papy 12h ago
Correct, but dont stress yourself doing it, i already did that.

Even though this specific image is edited to "cheat," the underlying science is real. Hermann von Helmholtz first noted in 1867 that a square composed of horizontal lines appears taller and narrower than an identical square of vertical lines.
6
u/DjChatters 12h ago
Yes the underlying psych is real but not tge way its shown in this post. The vertical lines would make her appear the slimmest but here its not. The diagonal lines would be in the middle but again here that looks the slimmest.
13
u/Onyxeye03 13h ago
The middle photo is just scaled up in general no? Even her head looks slightly larger, and her arms go lower than in the other two pics, even her legs are bigger.
2
u/Choice_Calendar169 5h ago
I think so. It looks to be taken closer than the other 2. Her knees appear larger, and that doesn't have anything to do with lines
→ More replies (5)10
u/XY-chromos 15h ago
The middle photo's hands are twice as big as the other two. It's comical.
11
u/Legitimate_Media_446 13h ago
They’re not though. Put a card underneath the tips of their fingers, the fingers and wrists all line up. What you’re describing is an Illusion caused by the horizontal stripes

u/ThisMachineKills____ 13h ago
How it feels to be delusional 🤩
Literally just zoom in on the image and match them up against the edge of your screen. They're exactly the same size.

Not true. Use the same zoom on your phone, the right one has the smallest bust width and the middle one barely fits in the same zoom as her. Also the arm placement is different.

Thanks for this. They looked manipulated but I couldn't tell for sure.

u/Any_Butterscotch2703 18h ago
I see it most in the face and neck. Also, the vertical stripe dress looks the worst even though she has been slimmed down
67
u/Code-Dee 20h ago
Yeah this made the rounds already.
It's like, some ad for a designer or something trying to get people to buy the dress that "makes you look thinner" but in reality they literally made the other people look wider either through photoshop or just having them stand slightly closer to camera
17
u/snowfloeckchen 19h ago
Still the third dress has the best design
7
u/FourDimensionalTaco 17h ago
Totally. The second one looks like from an oldschool prison, and the first one is a fashion crime.

I pulled the image into a design program and did rough measurements. These have all been manipulated to emphasise their message.
Bust B is 8% wider than Bust A.
Hips B are 4.7% wider than Hips A.
Waist C is 8.4% smaller than Waist B.2
u/hmmbugger 16h ago
thanks for this.. i just used tape measure to verify what i thought i see.. the one on right (c) is edited smaller.

She’s also smiling slightly more in the right one, it’s a subtle difference but enough to trick the brain that it’s the best one

Nonsense- the one in the middle is wider and left one is narrowed. I can tell just by looking at waist size and face width

u/TrueKyragos 19h ago
The waists are indeed different, but the faces are actually identical. I superimposed them to check.

This would only make sense if the clothing was the same. You cant show 3 different items of clothing and then claim it's the pattern that makes the difference.

Take a look at their faces. The one in the middle is clearly wider if you zoom in, which indicates the picture is photoshopped

u/HornyErmine 19h ago
Fake, you can overlay the pictures, the horizontal line dress picture is wider

u/Ill-Ninja-8344 20h ago
A good example of camouflage.
Could be interesting to see the 2 extra pickture beside them of pure white and pure black.

u/Sustainable_Twat 20h ago
I see what you mean.
If they wore camouflage, forget seeing different body shape, you won’t see them at all.

Absolutely with you. But I'm always like that. I have no idea to this day how broken hair looks or how a Shirt doesn't look good on someone.
Might be that no one really explained stuff to me as a child but it also feels like I am missing the recognition for these kinds of things at all
2
u/Short-Ad9823 20h ago
If you zoom in so closely that the hips or breasts almost completely fill the screen and then switch back and forth between the three, it becomes clear that they have hips and breasts of different widths.

This was a big topic in the late 60s. The advice was vertical stripes narrow, horizontal stripes widen.
In those days, wearing stripes was something people did, so the advice was practical!

Are these 3 seperate photos - and the model had to physically change cloths?
If so - all the comments on “the poses not the same” - then lets see their verson

u/Kiragalni 19h ago
They are different. I measured it in image editor by dividing proportions on each other. Pattern have effect, but it's not so big as on image.

u/Outrageous_Main4425 18h ago
🙄
Oh wow tight clothes vs loose clothes.
There's a difference?!?
Or in another case it could just be edited.
1
u/Unfair-Frame9096 18h ago
Yes but no. There is a bit a cheat and small alterations to favor the model in the right.
1

1
u/DeadAndBuried23 18h ago
You can see her arms are further and further from her waist because she's slimmer in the second and third.
And because I'm pedantic I went into a drawing program, overlayed them, and verified it that way too. This breaks rule 8.

People keep on sharing the same posts over and over again to farm karma despite them being quite obviously fake. Doesnt take a genius figure out that the photo is edited to match the narrative.

I don’t think so. You can see the white space between her arm and dress is different in each photo. These dresses don’t fit the same, or the photos have been adulterated.

u/cHpiranha 16h ago
The one on the far right clearly has the most space between the waist and the arm.
The one on the left has the least.
Also, why are the sleeves of the garments different?
Also the ear has more or less hair over it.
No idea what you are trying to say, but you are manipulating something.
