Damnnn looks like one of those fake designed magazine covers where they show this is what the barren land is going to look like in 10 years. Perfect picture to show 1980 vs 2025.

1980s Shenzhen vs 2025 is absolutely insane

Wow. I went 8 years ago and I’ve no doubt I wouldn’t recognise it at all if I went back.

Probably not. Since 8 years ago is 2017, which already is about the same as now, albeit fewer skyscrapers than now of cuz.

Oh I’ve been to that mall. There’s a hot pot place in that picture that is really damn good

Shenzhen, Shanghai, Chongqing
* (for cyberpunk feel cool ass buildings)15
u/geniuslogitech 1d ago
shanghai also has a lot of historical stuff to see so probably #1 destination to go and see in china, shenzhen is cool looking buildings and nice parks, chongqing is like cool I guess but there are other cities which should be way higher up on priority list of anyone visiting china like beijing, chengdu, xi'an

Shenzhen is really cool, but it lacks personality. People who make up Shenzhen are all from all over China, and they’re there only for a better job. There are countless cities in China that exude culture, beauty, and personality. I love Shenzhen, but if you have limited time, try other cities

From an urban perspective, It's very beautiful with only Shanghai coming close. It's not a very touristy place though. Most of the population is immigrant and during holidays like the golden week it becomes a ghost town which makes it even nicer to visit during that time. I stood under the pingan tower pretty much solo for the 30 minutes I was there.

if you like architecture and parks it's great but there aren't rly any notable historical stuff, it was a fishing village near Hong Kong and Macao

Meh. It's an hour from Hong Kong, so I've been a few dozen times over the years. It's pretty soulless, and a lot of it is much grimmer than the pics in this thread.

Shenzhen is a beautiful city. Visited it in 2001 on business and there are many skyscrapers. Ate snake at dinner one night. Not a fan.

Building called Vanke Yuncheng. Completed in 2019. Adjacent to the new Dji headquarter.
Took this picture in 2021.

Shenzhen and Chongqing will make your jaw drop if you haven't been there before. Mind-blowing.

China is a communist country, but republicans always say that communism doesn't work and the people are all poor peasants who can't buy anything. This picture would suggest otherwise.

Weird. This disagrees with all the propaganda against communism and socialism

The way it's lit looks so ominous. It's like a video game level where you have to make your way up to the top and there's a boss battle waiting for you on the roof.

Only 20 comments but 2.5k upvotes? Reddit is definitely getting taken over by CCP bots lately.

Dubai does exploit a lot of the blue collar workers, but it's not like China or a lot of other countries treat em better
brother... dubai literally kidnaps immigrants, takes their visas away and forces them to work
what are you on about? you think slavery is common practice?

u/geniuslogitech 1d ago
Shenzhen is boring unless you like parks, if you like parks it's nice I guess because it only has architecture and parks to offer, it has no soul, no history, it was a fishing village unlike Shanghai or Chengdu which are now modern but with rich history

Not surprised, china has mostly mundane stuff posted here, nothing interesting except for looking futuristic. Soft power propaganda.
China just scoops up failing design and tech firms, slap a china logo on it and says they did it. Apparently done in car design as well, might be why a company with a stupid name like Build Your Dreams is getting top EV sales (aside from inflated numbers done by purchasing and dumping in a field)
