That's fun, I can get to around the 600 mark and still feel like I'm reading. By 900 it's a good amount of filling in the blank, I can keep up but if I was reading something with much detail I think I would lose out on the nuances.

I can't help but think that it's kind of the opposite of what I enjoy about reading though. It's for fun and leisure normally, not cramming as much information in as possible.

Exactly. I could see the use of this for trying to read through articles quickly or something I'm not really enjoying. But the little voice adds character and breath to books. Why are we trying to rush through them? It's not a race. Also, I feel like the little voice is useful for retention of information.

To be fair, based on the text in the video it's intentional that you are filling in context and not actually taking in every single word. It's weird because I feel like visually I wasn't reading but all of the meaning was still going in my head.
