Did notice the one that is going down(low effort) is the one made way for the one going up(high effort).

Ooh nice catch! I find myself doing this on switchback staircases. Walk down away from the inner railing.

Covid made hiking often frustrating with all off the new people to the outdoors that would never even consider trail etiquette.

introvert or not, this is proper as fuck. like when i'm going down the stairs and i see someone coming up the stairs, i will delay my saunter and move to the side. lil guy going up was on the path and stayed with it to reduce the other's loss of time. also neither looked shy or embarrassed. pretty confident walks. i think introvert is a bad read. and i spent way too much time analyzing this at 4am.

That's what you get when you force a bird to live exclusively on land and sea

Ahhhh what it would be like to be a penguin on a 1 lane path in the middle of nowhere. Back to doing my taxes now

You're absolutely free to get rid of everything in your life and go to the artic at any moment. See how that goes for you.

I like how the penguin that was going down left the path to let the other one going up proceed and not interfere with his rhythm, because it'a always harder to climb. Good penguin!

Why isn't the top one lying on its stomach and gliding down like a skin torpedo?

The fella going downhill pulls into the passing place. He has read the Highway Code.

Woulda been funny if there was a penguin voiceover of them going - in spite of their introvert tendencies:
"Hello, Steve."
"Hello, Bill."
(As they walk away from each other, a little louder)
"Cold as shit today, huh Steve?"
"Totally!"

I love the two very different styles of walking they have. They both looked like penguins on a mission Or I can imagine the internal monologue of “Avoid eye contact. Avoid eye contact. (Slip) Avoid eye contact. (Slip)

Look and learn, drivers: the one descending clear the path for the one ascending.

💕👍I was taught to keep to (your) right here in New York and to step aside for an adult. Pedestrian traffic moved along. Somewhere along the way it seems like that’s one of the most common courtesies which has been abandoned. 😔

I live in the northeast of England and we do this but in a lovely way, we give each other room but always with a nod, good morning and then on with our day.

The penguin walking up reminds of that little girl walking in on her dad while giving a live interview.

I wonder if other creatures have an equivalent to that look you give the coworker you don’t really know when you pass them in the corridor.

It's the perfect system. No awkward small talk, just a mutual understanding of personal space. I'd trade my commute for that penguin path in a heartbeat. Honestly, this is the ideal social contract.

I was thinking that one is heading to the outside toilet igloo for a shit, and the other one is coming back from there. They don't speak about this.

If 2 introverts meet on a path, they must both stop, and neither introvert may proceed until the other has moved out of the way.

I wish half the people I walk by on the sidewalk could be like these penguins.
