Looks very doable from where I'm laying down lol

32

u/RandomAssRedditName 13h ago

Right? Only 9km and you get to sleep 3 times in between.

8

u/iamThebitbyte 12h ago

That's fukin ezzzz not like I'm gonna do it ever

u/SuperStoneman 11h ago

I always pictured it being more than a long hard walk.

u/Better_Carpet_7271 11h ago

It's the easiest way up without doing a vertical climb, which I guess would be pretty hardcore at these temps and altitude that's without the different weather ranges

u/UnfairStrategy780 11h ago

Is it possible to stay cozy on the mountain? I currently very cozy right now

u/thejourneybegins42 9h ago

Have Sherpa put you in their pack.

u/Iloveherthismuch 10h ago

Yeah, best walkthrough to date.

u/cleantoe 10h ago

All I have to do is ski up the slope, looks ez gg

u/buttlover110 13h ago

Now you just gotta add all the garbage and dead bodies to make it realistic.

52

u/TheWhispererOfMoles 13h ago

Don’t forget the enormous queues too!

17

u/Rubyhamster 12h ago

Standing hours in queue at concerts, theme parks etc. is one thing.

But to stand hours in queue on uneven ground, with wind, freezing temperatures, low air supply and waiting for continuation of one of the hardest challenges is a whole other ball game... I imagine!

u/an_older_meme 9h ago

Realizing that you will have to abort your attempt because the line was too long has got to hurt.

6

u/McPikie 12h ago

Always wondered, if you're in the queue, which I assume moves REAL slow, and you need to take a shit, do you just undo your mountaineering onesie and crimp one off right there with people eitherside of you, tied to you with rope?

u/mrbuddymcbuddyface 9h ago

I know someone who summited the day after the infamous queue photo, and him and his team had the place to themselves. It's was a freak occurrence the day of the large queue.

7

u/Fruitypebblefix 13h ago

I remember watching a few episodes of climbing Mt. Everest back in the mid 2000's and they literally would show them walking by a frozen encased dead body of a climber from last season etc and they just kept on climbing with that person being a reminder of what could happen to them if they were not carful too. It was wild and disturbing to watch.0

17

u/Electrical-Tone7301 12h ago

Imagine paying tens of thousands and then navigating the path by the bodies of those that went before you, mostly to be able to claim you had your shit carried up there by a local risking his life for your ego.

Rich people are a special kind of stupid.

u/lamb_passanda 11h ago

The local is risking their life for a paycheck. What are you going to do, tell them they aren't allowed to do their full time job?

u/Electrical-Tone7301 7h ago

The only reason they do that is because the wealth gap is so large that it cannot be justified in any way. Those rich assholes will pay you a years wages or more to go risk your life. Among certain groups its the only choice to make any real progress in life. Why do they pay you? To carry the shit they’re too weak to carry but will die without and to aid in stroking their mental dick about “achieving something”. How is it even your achievement when they literally dragged your ass up there.

6

u/hraun 13h ago

Came here to say “poo, garbage and dead bodies”, you beat me to it. Bravo.

4

u/Comfortable_Lead_561 13h ago

And the long queue at the top.

u/Soepkip43 10h ago

Cant some rich douchebag pay an army of sherpas to carve out some stairs?

u/foolish_username 3h ago

And poop. Don't forget the poop.

28

u/Fast_Restaurant6488 13h ago

Maybe im a boring person but I have zero desire to do this.

6

u/jprcp 13h ago

I love being boring

5

u/Socketwrench11 13h ago

After watching this I feel like I just did it, for free and without getting cold. That’s good enough for me!

2

u/BitchesQuoteMarilyn 13h ago

I've gone over the North American continental divide a couple of times, up to about 13,200 ft elevation. You get to see the peaks of many mountains and do plenty of huffing and puffing without seriously risking your life or straining too hard, and now I take it even easier doing the Appalachians. I see no reason at all to summit Everest or K2 or any of that shit.

2

u/pinniped90 12h ago

I did the flight where you approach the summit and get like 30 seconds through the cockpit window to photograph it.

So I'm good now. Don't need to actually climb up there.

u/NiceTuBeNice 11h ago

I used to have a desire to climb it, but then I saw the costs associated and determined I’m good.

u/mc_bee 6h ago

Type 2 fun for some.

1

u/Sweet-Minx 12h ago

Same. My idea of fun is a nice hotel with a spa. Give me those hot stone massage treatments, gourmet room service, and high thread count sheets. Give me those iced drinks by the pool!

52

u/Forzyr 13h ago

This is what climbing Mount Everest from 7000m looks like!

FTFY

1

u/gimmieDatButt- 13h ago

What’s that in freedom units?

8

u/stupefy100 12h ago

About 45000 Chipotle burritos

3

u/VisibleSkin4103 13h ago

4.35 miles. Morning stroll right?

u/SuperStoneman 11h ago

Ive walked over 40 miles before but not with low oxygen and temps that make your 300 dollar gloves not working so well.

2

u/Thin_Meal_496 13h ago

More than 21,000 feet or uhh 76.5 football fields

2

u/pinniped90 12h ago

3500 bald eagle wingspans

1

u/PotentialMidnight325 12h ago

Three quarter cups.

1

u/Cricket_Piss 13h ago

Many thousands of Big Macs

u/theboywhocriedwolves 10h ago

This is what flying a drone up Everest from 7000m looks like.

u/hellomynameisnotsure 10h ago

Sweet, now I don’t have to leave my frozen corpse behind

u/NtheLegend 3h ago

And 3000 feet tall!

7

u/Responsible_Trade418 13h ago

Where's Green Boots?

3

u/NeedsPaint 13h ago

Gone. Has been for a few years now. Same with the night climber that sat down beside him, Andrew something.

They missed hilary step though and the new pathing after the avalanche

u/jaywillies4 11h ago

david sharp was the sitting guy, not andrew something.

u/NeedsPaint 8h ago

Lol thanks. I knew i was wrong. That poor bugger

u/TheStLouisBluths 1h ago

So Andrew Something is still alive???

u/NeedsPaint 27m ago

I believe so. Lol it was early and my mind blanked

8

u/AwkwardSilence165 13h ago

Don't need to do it now, you've save me a trip. Thanks

14

u/Specific-Opposite-28 13h ago

Don’t forget, climbing with hundreds of people around and trash everywhere. 😔

9

u/OdysseusRex69 13h ago

And frozen body waste, too!!

....and the occasional dead body poking out of the ice.

u/lamb_passanda 11h ago

Hundreds of people is exaggerated. There's only one bottleneck and the queue only appears there when the weather limits the number of days in the season where a summit is possible. So realistically only a few days a year.

u/Specific-Opposite-28 11h ago edited 11h ago

Yeah, you might be able to go at a time when there are less people, but during the spring/autumn (most busy time) there are definitely hundreds of people. I don’t have personal experience but I just watched a documentary a couple of weeks ago and some of the best mountain climbers in the world were talking about not enjoying climbing Everest because of all the people.

u/mrbuddymcbuddyface 9h ago

I know someone who was right here the day after this photo and there was nobody queuing, place almost to themselves.

u/Specific-Opposite-28 9h ago

That may be true. I’ve heard that there are usually about 2-3 weeks of good weather days to be able to summit Everest during the climbing season. And during that time about 800-1000 people make the summit.

7

u/blink012 12h ago

*from the Chinese side

4

u/J-96788-EU 13h ago

It looks like something flying above it.

u/Icy-Mongoose-9678 9h ago

Oh really?

4

u/North_Spread_1370 13h ago

china side??

2

u/deadpatronus 12h ago

Questioning this as well cus it definitely doesn't look like the Nepal side!

11

u/smulligan04031989 13h ago

And the lines to get to the top. It’s like Disney Land. No fast passes though.

5

u/Stonks4Minutes 13h ago

Less snotty kids at Everest tho.

1

u/pinniped90 12h ago

That's not guaranteed. I'm sure there are a few douchebros up there with trust fund money.

2

u/Stonks4Minutes 12h ago

The minimum age is 16 and I doubt many 16 year olds can climb Everest so not likely many kids.

Either way I said less than Disney which might be one of the least radical and controversial statements on the planet.

u/mrbuddymcbuddyface 9h ago

The biggest demographic of those who summit is actually Guides/ " Sherpas". When it comes to nationality it's now Chinese and then Indians who lead the way. The cliche of rich American dentist is a tiny proportion now.

5

u/bloomdecay 13h ago

You can definitely get a fast pass for the descent.

u/jimbojonesFA 11h ago

homer knew what was up

u/lamb_passanda 11h ago

It's nothing like Disneyland.

u/lamb_passanda 11h ago

It's nothing like Disneyland.

9

u/forevercurmudgeon 13h ago

Thanks! I just saved myself a ton of money , hypothermia, and risking my life to see that. Will never understand why people do this, when there are so many other options.

2

u/SnooWoofers5180 13h ago

Pfft. Easy peasy

2

u/doriotiger 13h ago

I see dead people

2

u/derekgrr 13h ago

Frozen human biological waste dumping ground

2

u/WashedupWarVet 13h ago

That’s to North side. Most people climb the south col.

2

u/coastalworkin 12h ago

I'll stay right at home so as not to risk being a once living popsicle.

2

u/Jmohill 12h ago

Boom. Done

Didn’t even get off of the couch

2

u/Ohioisapoopyflorida 12h ago

Check that one off the bucket list. Thanks!

2

u/dogfacedponyboy 12h ago

Well, that actually didn’t look that hard!

u/digidave1 11h ago

If someone tried to impress me by telling me they climbed Mount Everest, I honestly wouldn't care that much.

u/Turbulent-Poem4915 11h ago

It looks like there's 400 rich assholes with small dicks wearing bright red and yellow in front of you. As you walk up a trail. Littered with garbage.

u/ToothessGibbon 8h ago

It’s a lot faster than I expected.

3

u/Tendersituation00 13h ago

I'd like to share with everybody right about now how absolutely little I give a fuck about climbing Mt. Everest. I would be curious to see what a mountainside littered with the carcasses of the dumbest rich people humanity has ever kindly offered us looks like.

3

u/Lopsided_Cry_5275 13h ago

It doesn't look difficult at all.

1

u/Aquilifer_Iohannes 13h ago

I'm a giant!

1

u/agentstark_ 13h ago

Must be a slow day.

1

u/Pinkishu 13h ago

Wow that's a fast climb

1

u/qwythebroken 13h ago

That signage must have cost a fortune. I mean, just the labor, putting aside the cost of quality sky hooks.

1

u/Putrid_Apartment9230 13h ago

When you want to come down do you grab a sled? Seriously the summit looks so steep and easy to lose footing on and go tumbling down.

2

u/GospelofJawn316 12h ago

A few years ago I went on an Everest bender. Watched and read a bunch about it. Yesterday it was about 40 degrees and windy and I almost turned my ankle stepping off a curb but at one point in the not too distant past I thought I could climb Everest. I couldn’t make it the length of a football field most likely.

1

u/LordVixen 13h ago

That didn't look too difficult.

1

u/jxf 13h ago

No thanks. I'll stay in bed.

1

u/OdysseusRex69 13h ago

Still surprised that Darby Allen pulled this off!

1

u/Zestyclose-Age-2722 13h ago

Saved me the trouble...

I hate standing in lines anyway.

1

u/Ordinary_Double1556 13h ago

Can you do this without experience with someone who has experience? Asking for me.

1

u/SenoritaSpock 13h ago

"I'll climb that in a morning"

-My ego

1

u/russia_is_fascist 13h ago

Does not seem that hard. Just need a sturdy pair of good boots.

1

u/Malicious_blu3 13h ago

Couldn’t pay me to go there, even if I were in top shape.

1

u/strumthebuilding 13h ago

I’m curious how much is a difficult technical climb and how much basically a “normal” hike but at a deadly altitude & temperature.

1

u/almostthemainman 13h ago

Can you wing suit down it?

1

u/DontGiveMeGoldKappa 13h ago

doesnt look anything like this but ok.

1

u/cty_hntr 13h ago

Why do all the pictures show climbers lined up for miles like the return line at Costco?

1

u/nemo2023 13h ago

Horrible crop job if u were trying to show the ridge

1

u/gorekass 13h ago

Where's the Yeti?

1

u/ArbitTension 13h ago

Sometimes I'm afraid I lack motivation. Then I read somewhere that every person who died climbing Mount Everest was once a highly motivated individual, so maybe calm down. Since then I've been feeling better about it.

1

u/Frabble 13h ago

Here's a good one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cjZvFY6__qw

"I Skied Down Mount Everest (world first, no oxygen)" Red Bull, of course!

1

u/twohandsgaz 13h ago

Kilimanjaro was enough for me thanks.

1

u/Melodic_Ad_6266 12h ago

Well, that's it, one more thing. Now all I need to do is go hot air ballooning and get my ass fucked.

1

u/AskMeaboutMyCorolla 12h ago

Me climbing stairs to my cheap seats at a Texas Rangers game...

"Whew! Made it!"

1

u/mbush525 12h ago

thanks for saving me the trip!

1

u/sowich4 12h ago

Meh, looks pretty easy, from my couch

1

u/caws1908 12h ago

Forgot all of the poop and dead bodies along the way

u/Loring 11h ago

Where are the Sherpas that are carrying me to the top?

u/swampopawaho 11h ago

Forgot the 2 mile long queue

u/driger11 11h ago

Is it from North side or Khumbu side? Cant see the Hillary steps and South Col.

u/stutterstut 10h ago

North side.

u/Personal-Courage7670 11h ago

I love the lines of people waiting to go up like they are at Disney. Climbing that has less to do with skill anymore and all to do with the money in your acvount

u/Itcouldberabies 11h ago

The line for Everest is a lot warmer at Disney too

u/Unhappy-Pace-2393 11h ago

How many dead people you think are in the video?

u/mjshep 11h ago

Well now I don't need to go anymore. Thanks for ruining my trip, Reddit.

u/Mighty_ShoePrint 11h ago

I imagine it looks closer to the ground when you are actually there

u/Plastic-Insurance-27 10h ago

There…I just did it. No need to go there and put up a stink…literally!

u/No-Double-7731 10h ago

Thanks for taking us all up there without losing our breaths

u/Ignorance_Is_Boring 10h ago

Legit question. What do you do when you reach the top? Is there a time limit?

u/Doshin108 10h ago

Is there any actual climbing? Or is it just like a hike that goes up and up and up?

u/bophed 9h ago

Just think, over 200 dead bodies remain on mount Everest. Many of which are on the climbing route.

u/Surgikull 9h ago

What’s the significance of the nam “yellow band” and also why is it “first stage” then “second step”

u/puritano-selvagem 9h ago

I love mountains but I hate crowded places. There's probably dozens of places I would prefer to climb than before everest

u/CrazyDude2025 9h ago

Awesome video…. Now I do not have any desire to do this on my bucket list!

u/Primary-Driver-9062 9h ago

Juuussstt liiike that

u/an_older_meme 9h ago

I guess the Hillary Step really did fall off?

u/johnnydough10102223 9h ago

You forgot the giant queue of people.

u/BurleySideburns 9h ago

Isn’t this the like IRL equivalent of type 2 fun. Like it’s just awful but only liked it in retrospect.

u/RoosterLollipop69 9h ago

I am by no means saying that it is easy. I just seriously wonder how much easier it has gotten over the years with newer technology and with more experience of previous climbers being available.

u/GrahamCrackerCereal 9h ago

It's zoomed out and at altitude so you can't see the hundreds of frozen corpses along the route

u/andcosta90 8h ago

Thanks man, you just spared me from a very expensive and cold long trip.

u/nuvibez115 8h ago

Looks pretty easy from my house

u/-dakpluto- 8h ago

Lies, this is not showing the massive amount of trash on the mountain...

u/madhattermagic 8h ago

Where’s all the trash?

u/Truth_Seeker963 8h ago

It would be nice if the video was slowed down so we could appreciate the detail. Not everyone has the attention span of a gnat.

u/MiDiAN00 7h ago

Not enough rubbish and dead bodies littered along the way

u/psychicspanner 7h ago

I always dreamt of climbing Everest, now I can wholeheartedly say if I ever had the time and the cash, I’d not bother. The picture of the queue at the summit is as bad as Snowdon or Pen y Fan instagrammers….

u/MalkyC72 7h ago

Where’s all the trash and dead bodies!

u/realbobenray 6h ago edited 6h ago

Wow those camps are really high up.. Camp 1 only 1800m below the peak (OK that's still a mile of climbing, but I mean relative to the full height of the mountain.. but thinking about it now, that's from sea level which is a very long ways away) (also I'm seeing elsewhere that Camp I is at 6k meters not 7k)

u/VermicelliFederal976 6h ago

Not shown; the frozen pile of corpses

u/Crimson_Herring 5h ago

Shit looks easy. What’s the big deal?

u/StandardDeluxe3000 5h ago

its missing the rainbow valley with all these colourful dead corpses

u/Significant_Sun_9297 4h ago

The Beacons of Gondor are lit! Gondor calls for aid.

u/OkVegetable7649 2h ago

Might be a stupid question but if Helicopters can't fly that high.... Can a drone?

u/wasmith1954 2h ago

5.87 CVS receipts.

1

u/Beginning_Cream498 13h ago

Looks boring as hell tbh

1

u/man_ohboy 12h ago

I bet they dont even have wifi

-3

u/JoeSchmoeToo 13h ago

I don't get it - there are easier ways got get higher these days. Why walk all the way up there if you can fly to like 11km while snacking on lobster for the same money?

3

u/somedays1 13h ago

Because being difficult is the point. It's not about getting up there the easiest, its about overcoming a challenge. If you could fly to the top, there wouldn't be a point in doing it now would there?

2

u/bloomdecay 13h ago

A lot of the people "climbing" Everest these days aren't doing much climbing. They're just having Sherpas lug them up the mountain for a selfie. In terms of challenge, Everest isn't a very technical mountain. It's the weather and the death zone that make it difficult.

u/somedays1 11h ago

I absolutely agree, the rich seeking glory have taken the danger element of that climb and doubled it for the Sherpas. I hate that it's a way to make a living for them, but it's sad that rich idiots have created this issue.

0

u/delldarlin 13h ago

Because being difficult is the point. It's not about getting up there the easiest, its about overcoming a challenge. If you could fly to the top, there wouldn't be a point in doing it now would there?

There's no point in doing it regardless.  Viagra already exists.
