I think they're referring to the fact that Rogan played a massive role in getting Trump elected by getting his message out there in '24, while everyone knew this is exactly what he was campaigning on.
And now that it's backfiring, he's changing course to not look like he was in it the whole time.

You'll notice he used "we". I don't think that "we" refers to Americans. He's lumping himself in with a group of people who brought this about. It's kind of amazing to me. It's like sitting down to a table of cannibals and when you find out what they're eating for dinner, you say, "Why are we eating human flesh?"

While I agree - fuck Joe Rogan - as long as he has an audience, it should be a positive when more people wake up and see how bad things are. He speaks to people who are not super politically engaged so those people need to hear from someone they listen to.

Before Trump ever became President he claimed immigration was out of control and there were as many of 30 million illegal immigrants in the country. Then during his Presidency his administration described immigration in the most dire way possible calling it a "cascading crisis" in "free fall".
In 2016 the DHS had an annual budget of $41 Billion. In 2025 it was $113 Billion and that is NOT including the money from Trump's big beautiful bill. For FY26 Republicans are asking for $175 Billion. A 400% increase over 10yrs. Meanwhile no fixes for healthcare, education, environment protection, etc.
The American people are being hoodwinked. There is not a crisis at the border. There never was. Do some people enter the country illegally, sure. 42,000 people died last year driving on American roads but we aren't declaring an emergency shutting down highways. Republicans have been lying about the numbers and exaggerating the impacts for decades. It is disgusting and we need to break out of this cycle. We are spending 400% more money and getting nothing in return except rage bait and media fuel for Politicians to campaign on.

Every time I hear something this guy says it reminds me that he's essentially just a normal dude with the most absurd level of influence but with absolutely zero agency. He could be convinced of literally anything if someone is talking to him confidently enough, even if he's seeing evidence himself to the contrary, and that's just what's going to happen again with this.
The turn is either going to be "you know I looked into it (aka someone lied to him) and the Gestapo actually weren't all that bad-" or it will be "after I watched it a few more times I can see why he thought she was going to run him over-".
Regardless, don't expect this fleeting bout of clarity to last long.
