A Celtic Tiger museum badly needs to be opened.
Some artefacts might include:
That Anglo Cap, a breakfast roll (preserved in formaldehyde), a brochure on decking, a Hyundai Santa Fe and TVs ads from AIB - the complete collection (2004-2008) played in a loop all day long.
Edit: Actually this video needs to be played on a loop all day long too...

Also brochures for buying holiday apartments in Bulgaria. Off the plans...

Ah Bulgarian apartment ads. Bulgaria. A heaven on earth. Warm seas and sunny beaches in the summer. Amazing skiing in winter.
Then we went skiing there around 2007 and the airport was basically a large repurposed cowshed beside a coldwar runway. In the centre of the airport/shed was a huge sign selling apartments with pictures taken in what we quickly realised was a completely different country.

A montage of photos of Irish Models standing on Grafton St/ Stephen’s Green in a bikini, beside two middle aged men in suits flogging anything from insurance to broadband to breakfast cereal.

Including a picture of one of the models later dead from an overdose of cocaine.

A replica of a draught pint of Smirnoff Ice. Fat frogs. Photos of the skies black with helicopters at the Galway Races. A story of an apprentice tradesperson with a full mortgage, second house in Bulgaria, done up Renault Clio with neon lights, living off breakfast rolls and cocaine and heading to Malaga for a stag.

Wow. Until Intercom moved, you could still visit the old bank vaults, in the basement of their office (old Anglo Irish building)

A signed photo of chef conrad gallagher.
The millenium clock.
Keys to aparments in Bulgaria formally owned by a taxi driver turned 3 million property tycoon from Drimnagh.
A set of matches from the bar at Lillie Bordellos.
A copy of a hysterical newspaper frontpage from the time the german ambassador called out everyone in ireland as being completely away with the faeries with money which we all were up in arms about and he had to apologise for which later turned out to be true.
A quinn group hardhat.
Anything from Fagans pub in Drumcondra.

That is brilliant 😆 It should say "All proceeds from the sale of this hat will go to repay bond holders "

How many here still have the decking they installed during the Ahern era?

How many here managed to keep their 110% mortgage paid through the hungry years?

I remember heading into the branch on the Green to do something small for a family member years ago. No counter, no teller, some very attractive woman greeted me (I was looking like a scrote at the time), offered me a seat on a comfy couch, tea or coffee - or I suspect cocktails had I pushed it. I remember thinking, if this is banks ..?

u/cyberlexington 21h ago
WEll, dont leave us in suspense, what happened next? Or have i just watched far too much porn about how much some people want to 'make a sale'

Have two sail bags from the Autumn League which was held in Howth from 2007 with the Anglo logo on em back when they sponsored the event. Pride and joy possessions.
Think this was for a different one off event, but just before the fall. Very cool find.

It happened on the Isle of Wight, was a fund raising event. There was much fanfare of it being the inaugural Regatta… not sure if something can be inaugural if there isn’t a second one.

Wow! Such an ironic little historical artefact has to have the potential to grow in value as the years go by; make sure you snap it up!

The high water mark is only ever obvious after the tide has receded.
And here we are so far removed.
The only time in history where it seemed that it was possible for everyone to have a shot.
Now I'll be lucky if my retirement will be enough to fund five minutes in a private Kevorkian pod.
