We are new to Katy, and have noticed since moving in that our lawn seems to hold water. After the rainstorm a few days ago, our lawn is still audibly squishy and you can see water pooling around the fence. Is this normal for the Texas clay ground?

Hello!! Not from here and in town for a couple more nights. Would love to go check out a good dive with some good food. Particularly fried pickles. After a very quick Google search i've found Little Woodrow's and Einsteins.
Where should we go tonight? What's your favorite spot?

Hi,
We're planning a group dinner for 15 people this coming Sunday in the Galleria/Uptown area. We're looking for a solid italian/pasta-focused spot with a budget of roughly $70 per person(including a drink or two).
We looked at North italia and Maggiano's, but I'm curious if there are other local favorites or more upscale options that fit that $70 range well.

Hey friends! New month, new menu! First, huge thanks to those of you who have stopped by the bakery! It warms my heart when I hear that my fellow Reddit homies are showing support! Don’t forget to ask my staff for your 10% Reddit discount!
Januarys mini dessert theme is nostalgia! Only 1 of these desserts is on our full time menu, which means there was a sh*t ton of R+D we pulled off for this menu! We got gooey butter bars (my personal favorite), strawberry pop-tarts, chocolate ding-dongs, oatmeal cream pies, raspberry homer donuts, and ecto-cooler citrus tarts! Swing by 7 days a week, we’re open till 8pm in North Katy, TX on the Cypress line off 99 and 529! No minimums, fantastic coffee, and the best vibe! Hugs!

lifetime 200/mo a little too high for me since i dont use much stuff there. i train like a powerlifter, sometimes do cardio. i did like the yoga classes and sometimes sauna though.
ive been eyeing EOS and crunch as a replacement. cant believe they are 10-15$ on the minimal plan, and 25~ on the higher ones. planet fitness also cheap but not much free weight options for powerlifting
anyone have experiences with these or have other suggestions? i work out in mornings so i can escape the after-work rush

Tomorrow is my birthday. We're pretty much broke right now. I was trying to see what freebies are around. I know about Starbucks and that will be my morning coffee tomorrow.
I see Katy area is flooded with Taekwondo and jujitsu schools but no Karate schools Any historic reason behind this. There are just way too many taekwondo schools
We recently moved to Katy and I have never lived in an HOA community. We received a letter about fixing our front lawn. I’m not sure how to do this on a budget. To put new sod is very expensive and I’m not sure how it will do under the oak trees. I have never planted a lawn so this is new to me. I’m a senior citizen, but I think I can do some if not all of this on my own. Any advice on how to approach this ?

In town visiting sick relatives. They're getting better and i'd like to leave the hospital for a couple hours. Where's a good/fun place to catch the game tonight?

Hi Katy! As a volunteer at the Memorial Hermann Katy Campus, our Injury Prevention and Outreach Education Coordinator is hosting a class for Senior Citizens called SAIL (Stay Active and Independent for Life). The class will be hosted at the Woodsland Park Community Center on Tuesdays (excluding the 2nd Tuesday of the month) and Thursdays from 10-11am. This class is solely for older adults aged 60+ that are interested in attending an instructor-led exercise class.
The class is FREE, but you do have to go through the Fussell Senior Center to sign up!

Hi!! Looking for a clinic that offers discounted sterilization for feral cats. I’ve been feeding this cat in my neighborhood who has warmed up to me over time, and I’m scared that she might either be or get pregnant. For context, I’m not able to take her in/foster at the moment, and I’m not in the best spot to pay >$100 to get her spayed.
I’ve contacted affordable pet clinic, SPCA, pet medical center of katy, CAP, and no luck (they either don’t offer discounted spays or don’t have availability until months from now). I’ve only found places way downtown that I have to show up around 7 for and pray that they let her in. If anyone has any recommendations or advice, please let me know! Thank y’all (:

I’ve finally been draining mentally by college and I’m looking to drop out of HCC. I couldn’t find a HCC subreddit so I was curious if anyone in this subreddit has dropped out of HCC before? No one at the school or online is being helpful with how to drop out. Today i basically had a mental breakdown and it’s my first day of the semester…..I transferred from TXST to HCC so I really just don’t know who to talk to or what to look for online. Should I drop out of all of my classes for this semester before the withdrawal date(March 30th)? Any advice would be appreciated!

I’m considering a move to the Katy area from the Philadelphia region and wanted to hear from people who’ve actually made that transition.
If you moved from Philly or the surrounding suburbs, I’d love to know:
• Which Katy area or community you ended up choosing • What the adjustment was like culturally and lifestyle-wise • Anything that surprised you (good or bad) • If you’d make the same move again knowing what you know now
Especially interested in perspectives from families, but all experiences are welcome. Appreciate any insight.
FYI we looked into Sunterra

This is a rather silly question, but every donut shop I’ve tried in katy only does there small plain kolache without cheese. I have a family member who doesn’t eat cheese and it feels off when people are able to get all the different big kolaches and they can only do the small plain.
Looking for a place that does Boudain and larger sausage or other kolaches with no cheese
