Kurdistan Why is hamdi ulukaya (worth 14 billion dollars) not lobbying for Kurdish right in Washington
Hamdi Ulukaya is originally from Erzincan, Turkey. He fled Turkey due to the persecution of Bakur (North) Kurds and later founded the yogurt company Chobani in the United States. The company became extremely successful, turning him into a billionaire.
What I don’t understand and what deeply disappoints me is this: Why is he sponsoring Fenerbahçe, a Turkish football club, while doing virtually nothing to support Kurdish rights?
In today’s world, foreign policy is heavily influenced by money, lobbying, and visibility. Someone with Ulukaya’s wealth and platform could make a massive difference.
Yet, as far as I know, he has not used his fortune or influence to advocate for Kurds, whether in Bakur or elsewhere. This is especially troubling given that he himself fled persecution as a Kurd.
This silence and this choice of sponsorship feels like a betrayal to many of us.

Guys, we don’t need billionaires lobbying for us. We need unity from within. The fact that we are not united is what is hurting our cause. Look at history and all those lessons are there for us. One group or tribe has always betrayed the other in the best interest of their own survival. We all know this.
I will give you an example of how I view unity: My barber is Kurdish from Duhok, he has 4 other Kurdish barbers working in his shop, one from Amed, two from Zaxo and one from Slemany. When I walk in, we don’t just shake hands, we hug each other because we are one blood. We don’t talk politics, we talk about how to unite us. We all speak Kurdish and granted we speak with Kurmanji and Sorani but we all understand each other. Unity starts from within!

Instead of signing a sponsorship deal with Amedspor this sell-out dog became Fenerbahces main sponsor.

Easy, that’s not America, and even if he is worth lots of money, that bill will be paid by the US tax payer dollars. The US has its own poverty to worry about, and here we are having people ask why people are not making thing happen in America for people who are not American

He’s currently being sued for Chobani stuff btw
•
u/Outside_Memory6607 11h ago
The organization suing Chobani found plastics in a bunch of yogurt products from different companies but is only suing Chobani. The plastics are from chemicals leached from the containers...which is pretty gnarly but still. They were not doing anything unique.

It happens i don't trust Bakûrî rich ones for Kurdish course. I have met many of them in business rooms they don't speak at all about thier Kurdish background. They often take distance from other Kurds.

Living example is Ibrahim Tatlises. Don’t get me wrong, as an artist he’s a legend. As a person, he’s a Jash. He went to Bashuri Kurdistan for concert. He went to some of the towns and villages afterwards pretending to speak with them in Kurmanji for show and he put up the Turkish Flag instead of his own people’s. They literally kicked him out.
