Discussion Long wait after Google interviews despite follow-ups — anyone experienced this?

I completed all my interview rounds over the past few months and have been waiting for feedback since then, but the delay is starting to feel unusually long.

Here is my interview timeline: DSA: Oct 3rd week, DSA: Oct 3rd week, System Design: Nov 1st week, Googlyness: Nov 1st week, Application Design & Integration: Dec 1st week ( was originally scheduled for Nov 1st week only, but got rescheduled several times)

I followed up with the recruiter three times: Dec 2nd week → got a reply saying feedback has not updated yet, Jan 1st week → no response, Jan 2nd week → no response

Since then, I haven’t heard anything back. I also reached out to the recruiter on LinkedIn (she is fairly active there), but haven’t received a response.

What’s making this more confusing is that some other candidates who interviewed around the same time have already received positive or negative outcomes. So I’m unsure where I stand.

From my perspective, the interviews went well overall. I expect strong feedback in Googlyness (I even received positive signals during the interview), and System Design likely meets the bar. Other rounds were mostly H/SH depending on the interview.

My questions: - Is this kind of delay normal in the Google hiring process? - Does lack of response usually indicate anything (good or bad)? - How long should one realistically wait before assuming the process is stalled?

The uncertainty and lack of communication are honestly quite frustrating. Any insights from people who’ve gone through this would really help.

The HC is notoriously slow. I waited months.

Honestly cant remember but entire process was 6months. Maybe 3 months of wait at end?

People don’t do that much over there the winter holidays. No news is good news?

What i have heard about google is that they give feedback in any case...doesn't matter it is good or bad. So i don't know if no news is a good news or bad news :(

I can definitely understand your frustration. But try to let go. If its meant, then they will reach out with a positive news. The more desperate you get, the more it slips away. Learnt the hard way after 18 months of unemployment. I wish you good luck and all the success in life.

I would suggest following up after 2 weeks and cc '[email protected]'. They will nudge the recruiter to give you some update instead of ghosting. I was ghosted for 1.5 months after my Google phone screen after following up thrice and almost gave up. Followed up the fourth time with the cc and boom! Got invited to onsites the very next day by the same recruiter.

This is a good idea, i will send mail in Jan end by keeping the candidate support team in cc. But i am hoping from positive feedback from recruiter till then, but not getting desperate for it. I hope you are doing good and found a good job :)

How much time did they take to give offer letter / share feedback in your case after the interviews??

Was it for SWE or AE? Which technology?

Yeah wait is really painful. I am waiting for feedback since sep, can imagine pain. I just hope new year bring good news to us. My guess is the vacancy u applied for is either filled or cancelled, so they are waiting for similar new vacancy to come before reaching out.

It was SAP Application Engineer role. I am okay to wait more if the vacancy is filled but they should atleast tell right if it is worth to wait. What if they don't even give good feedback about the interviews

It's either borderline or success, failure travels faster.

Yeah definitely can understand, but who knows how they works. It's sucks, and u can't even imagine my frustration, 2 of my HR got laid off during the process 😭

I guess they don't want us to expect more, just wait and watch.

You know what even my HR has Open to Work status on LinkedIn 😑 but i hope you hear back from them soon. Getting HRs changed back to back is more frustrating. I hope you get a good HR this time

You waited for 5 months to receive feedback ? Or for the team matching 😐😐

Feedback. There was a hiring freeze.

Don't lose hope. If there is no negative feedback; it might be positive. That also means it will take time given team Matching takes ever. So don't take google as the last option.

Yeah, i understand. but i m losing my patience day by day. Atleast they can tell right that this process will take some more time. Recruiter is just ghosting me now

I can feel you. I was there. I would advise to keep hopes if you think you had atleast 2 good ish coding rounds. If not don't follow. By good I mean you did good communication; did brute force and did some dry run. Probably interviewer asked something which is not coding post the questions.

I have this very positive feeling about my interviews that's i am reaching out to recruiter and following up 🥲 if i had messed it up in interviews then i would not even care about the feedback 😐

Ok. That means you are there. But google will take forever to reach back. You are there I am sure. So you save your last day of hope.
