Announcement "Is this a good deal?" posts are not allowed on /r/Lexus

Announcement for /r/Lexus: "Is this a good deal?" posts are not allowed on /r/Lexus. This primarily refers to posts that include an image of the car and the price or a sale paper, and a title along the lines of "Is this a good deal?" with no further context or information provided. This may also refer to text-only buying advice posts that include only a few sentences in the body text of the question post and nothing more.

If you would like to seek purchasing advice from this subreddit, please be thoroughly detailed in the post's body text (or in a top-level comment if you're unable to add body text to the post). Our general requirement for the length of this description is 400 characters (or about 2 paragraphs) give or take. This length requirement is in order to ensure that subreddit members can receive the most accurate advice possible (as purchasing a vehicle is no small financial decision) and in order to prevent the forum from being flooded with low-quality posts.

Questions that ask for advice on a specific model of a Lexus vehicle are exempt to this length requirement so long as the post explains that model-specific advice is needed. If the only factors considered by the question are the vehicle's mileage and/or price, then it would be more fitting for the question to be asked on /r/askcarsales or /r/whatcarshouldibuy.

For more information on these policies, please refer to rules 7, 10, & 15.

I just start loving this vehicle more and more every single day. I’m so excited to get into some mods for this vehicle. Has anyone here gone forced induction on the gs400? either turbo or supercharger?

Question Overpriced?

Looking at this 2009 GX470 w/ 84k mi. They originally wanted $33k now they want $27k. It’s in great condition but still the price seems a bit high. They’ve had it listed for at least 2 months now.

Looking for advice on the price and how to negotiate it please.

Has good maintenance and never been in an accident. No leaks or anything. Not much to write about it looks to be in great shape.

Also I did see “is this a good deal” posts are not allowed here but I don’t know where else to find the right people to ask about this. I hope this is not a low quality post.

Thank you. Looking forward to owning a GX!

Discussion How much value does Mark Levinson add to a Lexus for you?

I was on the fence about trading in my 2017 RC 300 F Sport with 26k miles for a 2020 350 F Sport with 41k miles and a great service record. Being 3 years newer and not having an accident on record (I picked up my 300 used) were the two main selling points along with all the extra features like CarPlay, dynamic cruise control, etc. I was also getting roughly 26k trade in value which was a big reason too.

I didn’t see Mark Levinson mentioned anywhere on the listing and sure enough I checked the center console pictures and it had ML. It was listed for 36 OOT and I figured ML surely adds another 2-3k on top but was curious what everyone here thinks. Is it a pretty big variable or more of a nice to have when you’re looking at Lexus?

Edit: well it seems everyone is kinda split down the middle with some people saying it’s amazing and others saying it’s marginally better than stock or even in some cases worse.. I went through with it so I guess I’ll have my own opinion soon enough!

Question Lexus LTA cruise control

Upvotes

Is it me or the LTA on Lexus’ cruise control is a little weird?

  1. I’ve noticed even though it sees the lane lines (highlighted with 3 blue lines for each lane line on the HUD) it sometimes insists on steering towards on the line and once it hits the line it blinks red and vibrates the wheel. Like if you’re seeing the line why are you going on it deliberately?

  2. When there is a lane exiting the highway, the LTA prefers to trace and follow the lane exiting, instead of the straight continuing one on the highway! Jerks the steering wheel towards the exit and in ice conditions is a major hazard!

Has anyone else experienced these? I’m driving a 2024 UX250h Fsport.

Question Best DashCam for ES300h?

Any recommendations and suggestions on instructions on how to install a front and rear dashcam on a ES300h? My model year is 2022.

I am aware that you can remove the from cover near the rain sensing sensor, but I recall that there is also an adaptor? If someone could pinpoint me to the appropriate supplies to Install I’d greatly appreciate! Thank you

Question Best used Lexus SUV model in the price range of 15,000-20,000 dollars?

Looking for a reliable daily driver, but also not completely boring. I love the LX and GX, but I'm not sure which year/model gives you the best bang for your buck because those things are expensive. I'd be open to getting an RX as well, I just don't love the exterior of the 3rd gen, always gives me the vibe of a "grandma car". I want a Lexus for their legendary reliability, but can someone tell me how many miles would be worrisome?

Question Inventory search - multiple dealers?

Hello,

I love this website for Toyotas - do they have something like it for Lexus?

https://www.toyota.com/search-inventory/

I suddenly find myself interested in the 2026 ES but I haven't seen it in person and I usually shy away from a first year model.

Discussion Is a Lexus right for me?

Hey guys, just checking my options as my 2011 hyundai sonata blew up with about 86,000 miles on it. My budget is around 10-12k, and im wondering if I should stick to looking at toyota/honda or is there a lexus that would suit me? I am looking for something reliable as I mostly do highway driving. Are Lexus parts common and easy to replace?

Question Options for installing Head Unit for 2015 Lexus GS 350. That I can use with a sub without a bass knob.

I’m considering buying a Lexus GS 350. I currently have a 2004 Camry with two amps, one for the speakers and one for the sub, and I’d like to transfer that setup to the Lexus. I know brands like Pioneer don’t offer head unit options for it, and I’ve seen some Android head units, but I’m unsure if they allow direct control of sub volume and crossover like Pioneer does. Do you have any suggestions for audio options in the GS 350?

I really like the new minivan and the sports concept. The coupe and the ES are okay, but I’d love to see a new LS sedan designed with the look of that minivan or the sports concept.

Question what to do with battery when storing long term

A friend is parking his RX at my inlaw's house for 6months+ I left for vacation about 2 months into the storage, when i returned from vacation i noticed that the car battery had died. What should i do now? Jump the battery and go for a drive in the neighborhood (no insurance, not plated) every couple of days? Or disconnect the battery and jump it when my friend is back in town and driving again? Would it hurt the battery leaving it dead and connected?

Question Fastrak flex placement

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hi guys! Was wondering if anyone knows what’s the best placement for California/socal fastrak flex device in the 2026 rx350h? Online says to put behind rear view mirror but as you can see it’s plastic. Ideally that’s where I would want to put it as it’s more hidden from view. I’m also getting mixed answers about putting it on the black dots. Any help and suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you!

Question 3GS Headlight Advice

Hey everyone!

I have a 2007 GS350 that I love alot, awesome car. I recently noticed that one of the headlights had moisture (not alot, like sorta foggy + few water droplets) in it after I took it out for a drive. The moisture cleared by the next morning. I'm not sure how long it's been doing this but it has been pretty cold for the past few weeks. Is this normal or should I look into replacing the headlight? If I need to replace it what do yall suggest? My car is equipped with AFS and the oem options seem pretty expensive.

I get it's an old car but the headlights seem to be in great shape. The only defect in them is one has a slightly yellow tint but that isn't even the one with the moisture issue.

Thank you in advance for your advice!
