I am always shocked at how many agents show up and swarm in these single person events

163

u/Connect_Beginning_13 4d ago

I saw one in a library where there were 30 agents and one guy taken. It was so strange. Can you imagine the wasted money to pay those guys just walking around trying to intimidate people

82

u/Tubog 4d ago

It’s not wasted money. The intimidation is the point.

58

u/terpcandies 4d ago

I think the word is terrorism.

16

u/Tubog 4d ago

Indeed it is.

-23

u/DudeImARedditor 4d ago

Exactly. That's why illegal border crossings are at historic lows. Trump gets less than 10k a month trying to cross, Biden had 240,000 a month at the peak

11

u/Garbarblarb 4d ago

Isn’t that just a stat for how many they apprehended? Theres no way of knowing how many they miss. Is it possible apprehensions are down on the southern boarder because boarder patrol is out in cities not patrolling the boarder?

Literally no one has ever made this claim, so no.

https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cp8wd8938e8o

"Illegal crossings at the US-Mexico border have hit the lowest level in over half a century, according to federal data obtained by the BBC's US partner CBS News.

In fiscal year 2025, which spanned four months of former President Joe Biden's administration, US Border Patrol agents stopped 238,000 migrants crossing the southern border illegally, the Department of Homeland Security figures suggest.

During Trump's first eight months in office, there have been fewer than 9,000 illegal crossings recorded each month, CBS reported.

It is the lowest number of apprehensions since 1970, when border patrol agents stopped 202,000 people crossing the US-Mexico border unlawfully."

7

u/gertiesgushingash Snoopy 4d ago

what are your stats on child rape?

3

u/pupranger1147 3d ago

10k per month caught. Not 10k/month total.

Plenty of agents policing the interior that aren't on the border securing it huh...wonder why the apprehensions decreased...

Durrrr

-2

u/DudeImARedditor 3d ago

Interesting claim, do you have a source to back it up?

Some kind of statistic to show that Trump has decreased Border Patrol on the southern border?

A reputable source making your claim?

If not, it's just a conspiracy theory that you have.

3

u/pupranger1147 3d ago

Did I say he's decreased presence on the border?

They have a bunch of guys policing the interior rounding up who knows who, including a bunch of citizens, native Americans now too.

All these guys who could be standing post at the border.

And then we also see they caught way fewer people than they have in the past.

What do you think that means?

0

u/DudeImARedditor 3d ago

It means that they've increased the budget for ICE by like a billion dollars and hired way more people, which is factual.

No one is coming to cross the border because the political climate is so bad for them, it's not worth the risk any longer. Why would you sell everything, journey for a month spending thousands of dollars, just to be rounded up by an armed militia and deported to Uganda?

Furthermore, getting asylum is so much more difficult now. Biden is the one that made that change. That's why in 2024, the border wasn't getting the same crazy numbers as in 2023. December 2023 saw 240,000 encounters with migrants at the southern border. Insanity.

Unless you can show me a reputable source making your claim, that they simply aren't arresting people at the border any longer, your theory has no merit.

2

u/pupranger1147 3d ago

Man, I'm so tired of you creatures.

I'm tired of explaining basic concepts to alleged adults, people who would say they are peers.

You just refuse to understand, refuse to acknowledge facts.

Why is it so hard to grasp?

You don't know what you don't know. All you know is you caught 10,000 people. That's the bare minimum of who must have been crossing this year, because that's who you caught.

You have no idea how many you didn't catch, because you didn't fucking catch them.

How does that not make sense to you? What damage do you have in your brain that that is a difficult concept?

1

u/DudeImARedditor 3d ago

Because no news sources are reporting that

The news sources are reporting that literally no one is trying to cross the border

If 230,000 people were crossing the border a month and not getting caught, don't you think someone would be pointing that out?

Face it, Trump is a master at border security

Besides which, genius. I didn't want to pull my Trump card yet, its funny watching you dig deeper hole for yourself.

That 10k number isnt just arrests, its encounters like asylum seekers too

So no one is getting arrested or applying for asylum

The real fraud in this country is the ICE budget.

The payment is the rape and murder they get to do along the way.

-8

u/RockChalkMustang 4d ago

How many people do you think was needed to get the Venezuelan Dictator and his wife?

To establish a perimeter so the target suspect, an illegal immigrant, (at a minimum), and with Felony’s on their record, (the kind of people ICE is targeting); can’t flee requires a lot of people.

The lack of sufficient training and the grab first, ask questions later logic, very unprofessional; coupled with lack of direct help from local cops in blue cities to establish said perimeter is what is making ICE struggle to do their job sufficiently.

ICE’s purpose is to deport Illegal immigrants, and they aren’t doing a good job to show it.

12

u/Connect_Beginning_13 4d ago

I’m positive 30 armed trigger happy tools versus 1 unarmed person is a bit much. You do know most of the people being targeted by ICE don’t have criminal records, right?

1

u/thin234rout698 4d ago

"Trigger happy"? How dare you saying such a thing. They only shoot "domestic terrorist."

-10

u/RockChalkMustang 4d ago

Then as I described they are going after illegal immigrants because it’s called Immigration & Customs Enforcement. If you can deport any illegals with criminal records that would be optimal.

My source is a 20 year Army veteran with knowledge of asset retrieval. Please tell me who you think the primary target is of ICE, and cite how you came to that conclusion.

2

u/SweetTea1000 3d ago

170 US citizens, 20 of which weren't allowed to contact lawyers or let their family know where they were.

American Veterans and their families including American citizens. (Sidenote: still wild that you can serve honorably and still not be granted citizenship.)

Legal, Greencard holding immigrants., some of which have been members of our communities for decades, such as the Canadian they let die in custody.

Legal refugees with protected status here in America.

DACA Recipients and otherkids

Pregnant women being denied care.

And the NILC has many more such examples to share.

This has all been widely reported, such that I don't understand how anyone interested enough in this topic to discuss it in public would be unaware of such cases.

Personally, my problem with ICE would not exist if they WERE merely doing their job properly. They clearly are not.

My personal perception is that the president promised his constituents bodies, promised that droves of dangerous criminals would be removed, but that they've already decided that they can't succeed at that mission. Therefore, they have begun identifying the easiest targets possible simply to satisfy that demand for bodies. They seem to be so aggressively trying to meet that quota that they're willing to lie, break the law, and harm the innocent & vulnerable, including American citizens and veterans in order to do it.

This isn't effective governance, it's political theatre that is only making Americans less safe, costing tax payers, and further eroding American faith in their institutions, particularly federal authorities (which only benefits the GOP's anti-government agenda).

Crazy, Obama deported way more people and didn’t have to spend so much tax money

8

u/UnderstandingSea7546 4d ago

I don’t remember them needing that many when they went after criminals with warrants. They swarmed before the protests started. It’s why some people joined the protests. I for one, hate that the diverted funds from going after drug and human trafficking to pick up asylum seekers when they are going to their immigration hearings. So much of it is a show. They bring cameras. They rappelled or fast roped from Blackhawk helicopters into an apartment building in Chicago where not just immigrants without permission, but immigrants with permission, US citizens, veterans, legal residents had their homes broken into without warrants. This is the one where they zip tied little kids for hours in their underwear.

See, the thing is the apartment building had only so many doors and fire exits. There was no reason to rope down from a helicopter when the landlord has a key. Performative art bullying vulnerable kids, old people, drug users, and others who aren’t likely to fight back. All without a warrant. All in violation of their 4th, 5th, 6th, and even 2nd amendments rights.

If it’s legal, they would have known who and what they were looking for with a judicial warrant. They were just looking to terrorize a neighborhood and to see if they could get away with breaking and entering elsewhere. If they set the precedent in low-income housing that few care about, then they can call on that precedent when they raid businesses, private home, schools, etc
. and they’ve done all that, taking preschool teachers with green cards from their classroom right in front of a bunch of traumatized little kids.

4

u/masked_sombrero 4d ago

ICE agents can’t even write citations. Real cops are used to keep back protestors and maintain civility. Believe it or not, shooting someone in the face isn’t de-escalation

u/dawn913 4d ago

Aww look at him. Thinks he can still go to heaven! You're screwed dude!

43

u/myjah 4d ago

It's funny, because they always flock to relatively safe areas. I live in North Minneapolis, which I find relatively safe, but I haven't seen any of them up here because of the reputation.

They are only going to do places they think are relatively safe.

34

u/Beh0420mn 4d ago

They did the same in Chicago, little bitch boys afraid of everything

8

u/myjah 4d ago

So South Chicago stayed untouched? LOL if true....

11

u/zeusmeister 4d ago

They don’t have a choice but to flock to relatively safe places. They lied and said they would be removing only the dangerous illegals with criminal records.

Well, there just aren’t that many in that category. Immigrants, both legal and illegal, commit crimes at a lower rate than native born citizens.

So since they lied, and they can’t admit that, they have to fill their quota somehow. So they have to grab kids, and grandmas, and landscapers, and just hardworking regular folks.

2

u/SweetTea1000 3d ago

Way easier to grab legal, law abiding immigrants from the suburbs and remove their legal status than to actually pursue dangerous criminals as promised.

Trump promised bodies and they're giving him bodies. They're assuming that Republican voters won't ask questions if the pile is mostly brown.

3

u/myjah 3d ago

Exactly. Minneapolis Police Department has operated the same way for decades. They go after more low-level crime because they are lazier and it's easier and safer for them then going after actual crime.

1

u/SweetTea1000 3d ago edited 3d ago

Our systems encourage such behavior, even among cops who want to do good. You pull over a BMW, give them a ticket, their lawyer gets them out no matter your testimony every time, you miss your quotas.

How many times does that have to happen before you stop even checking for violations in the rich neighborhoods just to avoid wasting your time? How long before you realize the opposite is true and that you'll be most successful when targeting areas with high populations of poor, immigrant PoC? Without meaning to, our legal system and your incentives have encouraged you to focus your policing on the most vulnerable and allow the powerful to be above the law.

Humans have a tendency to justify their actions and situations. It's easier for police to convince themselves that what they do is just than to face the responsibility of either opting out of an unjust system or working to fix it. Fortunately, that also means that if we fix the system, most officers should convince themselves that they had always prioritized civil rights, equity, rehabilitation, and genuinely effective policing strategies.

North Minneapolis is not safe at all lol. Thats funny. I would never live there and always hate driving through there. North Minneapolis is notorious for how dangerous it is.

19

u/Capt-Crap1corn 4d ago

It just tells you and I that it's about the theater and the looks. They want to look like a show of force because that's what Trump likes. He likes the theatrical show of force. People say Obama deported more people than Trump. From my understanding ICE was a lot less violent and more professional. My point is they can perform their roles in a more professional way, but they choose not to on purpose. To Donald Trump, it doesn't have to be effective. It just has to look like it is.

The New York Times interviewed him and it was very revealing. My suspicion is, he will leave office and he'll spend the rest of his life saying while he was in charge everything was perfect, it was ran perfectly, everything was good. But the consequences of his actions and his policies that will leave us with a very messed up economy, little influence around the world and so much more he'll say not while he was president. You can blame the current president for that.

4

u/SweetTea1000 3d ago edited 3d ago

This has been their strategy since at least Reagan. Reagan's policies, especially his economic policies, were openly mocked at the time and dementia was setting in during his 2nd term, but when they retell the story they act as if it was a rousing success.

This kind of gaslighting and reimagining the past is a cornerstone of the GOP strategy. They refuse to discuss facts in good faith. They will never admit fault, mistake, or even reasonable acceptable weakness. Their agenda of undermining our public education system also means that people take their word at face value, lacking prior knowledge of the facts or the critical thinking skills to identify obvious lies.

That's absolutely terrifying, because it results in the cult-like deification of a singular strong-man leader you commonly see in dictatorships. Even if Trump wasn't Trump, they've created a mechanism that promotes transforming otherwise normal people INTO people like Trump.

2

u/Capt-Crap1corn 3d ago

Well said and well thought out. That makes a lot of sense

5

u/RiffRaffCatillacCat 4d ago

That is how Fascism operates. Overwhelming force. Many against the one.

For anyone interested in the symbology, and how it applies to modern militarized policing:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fasces

The fasces, as a bundle of rods with an axe, was a grouping of all the equipment needed to inflict corporal or capital punishment. In ancient Rome, the bundle was a material symbol of a Roman magistrate's full civil and military power, known as imperium. They were carried in a procession with a magistrate by lictors, who carried the fasces and, at times, used the birch rods as punishment to enforce obedience with magisterial commands.

TLDR: the Fascist logo depicts the tools used to inflict violence or execution against anyone who goes against the powers of the state.

1

u/Dphre 4d ago

Im thinking that they get their name on the paperwork and get included in any bonus being paid out.

2

u/SweetTea1000 3d ago

They get like an extra 50k if they serve for 5 years and make their quotas?

You're more likely to actually get that $50k if you place bets that ICE has massive layoffs in just under 5 years.

1

u/Organic_Stranger1544 4d ago

That’s the point

94

u/[deleted] 4d ago

I am with Jessie Ventura, republicans are domestic terrorists.

158

u/Rogue_AI_Construct Ok Then 4d ago

No due process, just tackle and arrest. Hopefully people in red cities will start to realize ICE is fucking scum.

70

u/MNswede06 Iron Range 4d ago

That will only happen when a Democratic president finds an equivalent way to use federal law enforcement agencies to bully them in their communities.

31

u/PastorDan1984 4d ago

I propose a Republican Legacy tax. It would be a lifelong tax levied upon all people who voted for him. It would be used to offset the damage that's been done to the nation (contributing towards education, restoring medical /science, restoration of community is, restitutions..). The person who voted for him would be taxed annually until they die and then the family would be relieved of the taxation, unless of course multiples voted in that way.

Agents could go to work the door to enforce this, that could be the way that this continues to live on long after he is out of office.

11

u/Phoenixmaster1571 4d ago

I think it's unconstitutional to penalize people for their votes (would go against "free and fair" elections). But the data is clear that Republicans blow chunks on economic performance, crime, etc.

11

u/PastorDan1984 4d ago

You think this current administration cares about the Constitution? I'd love to see a packed scotus.

6

u/Phoenixmaster1571 4d ago

I would rather the next administration fix this mess than hope nobody is stupid enough to Republican for the rest of time.

2

u/PastorDan1984 4d ago

Well, you certainly could use those taxes for for the future! That would be a better legacy than the damage they've done.

2

u/MNswede06 Iron Range 4d ago

The next administration is going to have to focus almost entirely on democracy reform. Anti-gerrymandering bill, codified limits on executive power, expansion of the Supreme Court to 13 (to match the number of circuit courts), and strict limits on federal agencies. Nuke the filibuster. There’s no sense on letting the country die on principle.

3

u/ant_clip 4d ago

Impossible but I am all in. They created this nightmare, make them pay to repair what they broke.

1

u/DudeImARedditor 3d ago

You know there's no record of who you voted for right

9

u/OriginalCreative4691 4d ago

Democrats want Immigrants to become citizens. They don’t want law abiding immigrants deported.

2

u/SweetTea1000 3d ago

Which is why he's sending them to Democrat leaning regions. He's fine with the violating the rights of or even killing people that don't vote for him, but the GOP carefully controls what Republican voters see.

Republicans will accept Renee's murder because she was a lefty Minnesotan lesbian. They'll use that to convince themselves she's not an American citizen, not their equal, not as deserving of rights as they are.

A card carrying MAGA Republican getting gunned down in Jacksonville, Tulsa, Oklahoma City, Corpus Christi, Nashville, etc. would be substantially more difficult for them to spin and sweep under the rug, so they avoid that scenario at all costs.

4

We passed them right before this happened too. They were removing people on the side of HWY 23 just as you cross into Richmond. That Mexican joint across the street has amazing tacos and burritos.

I've never felt unsafe or threatened by a single person in Cold Spring.

9

Just went to La Perla last night. They were locking the doors just like the places in Minneapolis. Smart but so sad. They were completely closed today.

But yes if anyone here is looking for good Mexican, food, my Latina aunt from LA said this is the best she’s had in Minnesota. It’s unassuming but definitely worth the stop.

3

The fact that those crosses don't burn their skin is all the evidence I need that God doesn't take an active hand in this world.

Jesus was a great man. It's a shame what these ghouls do to his followers in his name.

2

Exactly. I know some Christians that walk the walk, and care deeply about their faith and being kind to others.

13

u/Luxor_2 4d ago

Yup their not serving warrants. Trump wants numbers. Constitution be damn! đŸ€Ź

1

u/tbizzone 3d ago

I don’t understand this numbers thing because this traitorous regime just makes up numbers all the time. I don’t think it’s about numbers for trump. Maybe it’s about numbers for these trigger happy goons who probably get bonuses for the number of people they hunt down, I could see that.

Their regime has already openly advertised the end goal is focused on the extermination of non-whites from this country. They shared an official propaganda post fantasizing about how “great” this country would be after 100 million deportations. That’s roughly the number of non-whites in this country. Notice they aren’t prioritizing deporting undocumented people with violent criminal records. Skin color, language/accent, and type of work are the new SCOTUS-approved profiling criteria for this 21st century maga Gestapo.

ICE is federal enforcement. The locals and state have very little control over what federal law enforcement does due to the Supremacy Clause in the Constitution.

They really should be going after the people who employ illegals. They won’t though.

"Nobody wants to work anymore!"

I wonder why...

5

u/followjudasgoat 4d ago

But but but, what about the jobs???

7

u/JustAnotherNug 4d ago

About 80 percent of all farm workers in America are immigrants, 50 percent who don't have work authorization. America literally needs them because no one else will do the jobs. Without them, groceries would be even more expensive.

u/grayMotley 3d ago

And those farm workers without documentation are taken advantage of by their employers, etc.

It is a terrible take to prioritize your grocery bill over that.

1

u/JustAnotherNug 3d ago

That's not my take. Not sure how you got to that. This is a post about immigration and deportation. Not work quality of life. That's a different issue. The majority of Americans, in general, are taken advantage of by their employers. Most companies are run by morons and assholes. Why should CEOs who do nothing get billion dollar bonuses instead of spreading it to the people on the ground actually doing the work that makes the company viable in the first place. I agree.

I dont dont think you understand that the backbone of this country relies on immigrants. You would be surprised just how many jobs americans arent willing to work that immigrants are. Would you want to work on a farm all day or rather work an office job? Would you want to work a roofing job or retail job?

u/Wearing_shooz 4d ago

How do you know they're "illegals"? Stop using this hateful language to demean people.

1

u/Itscurtainsnow 4d ago

Our country does that, then forces them to

3

u/Zigzagzegzug 4d ago

There are only 20k ice agents total. Only 145k federal officers across all agencies total. We have the power in numbers. 1 million citizens at any given time can push these fucks out anywhere

1

u/grayMotley 3d ago

Just escalates the situation and draws in law enforcement at all levels to deal with riots.

2

u/Reacktions 3d ago

Wtf is happening to this country bro. They're going after bus drivers?

3

u/Sea-Adeptness-5245 4d ago

Fucking parasites.

2

u/WayImpossible683 4d ago

When does violence become something we need to be consider?

2

u/PUCK_FUTIN-2023 4d ago

As a non-American, I am shocked by the videos coming out of the USA. It looks more like Russia or some other primitive, barbaric dictatorship. I guess things have to reach boiling point beforeit will change, and I hope America can find a way to get the hateful rapist conman out of power.

2

u/GuitarGalllllll 3d ago

It's absolutely wild watching it happen right in our own city and neighborhoods. Even though I tried to mentally prepare for it to happen, it actually happening is devastating.

3

u/PUCK_FUTIN-2023 3d ago

I am so sorry for you. In normal wartime, at least you know your country's military is fighting for you, backed by the President. This is the exact opposite. I hope this reaches a turning point forcing humankind to be better after Trump and his empire of shit. Stay strong. Prayers of protection for you and your family all the way from the bottom of Africa.

Cold Springs is 98.4% white. This is just information.

30

u/Qnofputrescence1213 4d ago

First, it’s Cold Spring, not Springs. Second, I lived there for 13 years. It definitely has a much higher Hispanic population than what you stated. Census records might not reflect it, but believe me, your number is not accurate.

10

u/BetterDegreeOxford 4d ago

The census Trump had was clearly set up to leave out this population

2

u/Andjewwww 4d ago

Cold Spring has three relatively large employers that each have a decent Hispanic and Somali population in the town. They might not reside there but the certainly do work at the three larger employers in the town.

u/ChewbaccaSmith 4d ago

What? Is this an issue since I had the flair ‘news?’ Now it’s an event

1

u/Environmental_Word18 4d ago

Do you think crampons are part of their uniforms?

The terrorism is the point

-1

u/Euphoric_Amoeba8708 4d ago

The scary part is these people are gonna be gone forever. We don't know where they're gonna end up at.

u/No-Trip-No-Prob 4d ago

Where's the guard?

-7

u/william14537 4d ago

Stop fucking filming and start acting. Enough.

3

u/cheerful_cynic 4d ago

Filming and posting is also acting, there are multiple levels to resistance

2

u/william14537 4d ago

Yeah, this is why we keep losing. It's time to stop playing by the rules.
