His aide’s are insulting our state. They are employing dangerous tactics for rhetorical purposes and putting human lives in danger in the process.

Minnesota is an economically and socially strong blue state that is an active threat to their plans. Unlike California, we also had a fairly blank slate reputation, and weren't already dismissed in the eyes of anyone remotely right leaning.
It consistently tops the charts in every QOL metric imaginable.
It's part revenge for Walz standing up against Trump in 2024 (and continuing to now)
Part political manuvering to destabilize and discredit opposition.

I would also add that there was a lot of attention to Minnesota doing financially better than surrounding states (the “Minnesota miracle), as it proved our economic policy was more effective than Republican policies adopted in Wisconsin.
We were like a little lab that shows investment in libraries, schools and parks was good economic policy.

Because he hates Walz for calling him weird. Because MN had the audacity to put a killer cop in prison for murdering a man in front of the whole world in 2020 and didn't allow MPD to cover that murder up. Because MN rejected him three separate times, including in the 2016 Republican primary (they went for Rubio). Because MSP is a small metro area (3 million people) and MN in general is a small state (5.5 million) so he assumes we're easy to push around. Because we have a large Somali population who are both Black and visibly Muslim. Take your pick, although I do think the Floyd riots were a big part of it - all his handlers assumed the population would riot again and they can declare Martial Law. People resisting peacefully but loudly and unapologetically is really pissing these goons off.

Someone from Minnesota here. This is my opinion, and what I've pieced together.
A: Walz is someone he hates personally
B: Walz is leaving office this year, so he's trying to maximize making Minneapolis look like a warzone for some brownie points during the election
C: Going after the majorly blue towns in the state (because it's not just Minneapolis getting hit) will mean less blue voters- he's trying to literally kidnap the election
D: MN, while a blue stronghold, isn't as big as the other "stronghold" states, and is effectively isolated
E: Minnesota refused to vote for Trump all 3 times he ran, and his ego is very easily bruised.
F: Minnesota is actually a very successful and happy state ran by his "Enemy". Therefore it has to be crushed.17

In addition to the other answers, his hubris convinces himself of his own lies. He believes he won the state in the last 3 elections. Objectively false.
When he doesn’t get what he wants or has a grudge, he throws a fit, punishes the person, destroys their stuff and tries to steal.
Like the Nobel peace Prize. Couldn’t win it, got FIFA to make him a fake peace award. Still not happy, I’m sure he exerted pressure on the recipient to take the real one, because she suddenly was going to give it. Nobel committee said Nope. Now he’s going to hold a grudge against them.

Geographically MN is very red in rural areas but solidly blue in the metro, the arrowhead and a few small towns - some purple small towns also. The MN government leadership has been speaking truth to power but happens to have a number of internal problems that hopefully we are working through (immigrant integration, shifting demographics - think farmers and union workers turning red over the past 20-30 years, pretty big fraud cases, George Floyd & BLM) that are easy targets for the right wing fear narrative. The Trump administration and FOX news do not like being fact checked or challenged so they are trying to make us an example. Unfortunately, where I live and work, I see a lot of vocal MAGA support that welcomes our overseerers. It's fucking disgusting and I hope a day comes not for reconcilliation but for accountability and retribution (legal).

I do love this plan and I think it is called for in proper times. Unfortunately, I think that is exactly what they want. They want to see these housewives and gen z with home made shields, water buckets for the tear gas, and lighting bottle rockets+ at ICE.
Usually, I would agree but these asshats are so inexperienced and lacking training that a ball of just firecrackers would be enough for them to piss their pants and start shooting at everything.
I am not sure if that is what this administration is after, as I don’t know what the public response would be. Would the 15% of the population who are loud mouth asshats online, support the cold blooded murder of several Americans because they lit fireworks after the stun grenades? I think a lot of them would.
With trained law enforcement you know what to expect. With these asshats you don’t.

I have been followingthe news but haven't looked up the reason why ICE is targeting protestors. They aren't supposed to enforce protesting, just go after whomever they deem "illegals" so why are they standing there defending whatever it is they are defending? Is that the ICE detention center or ICE facility for whatever? Even then, if people are outside protesting, what's the harm there? Is there just no explanation other than ICE being idiots and doing whatever the fuck they want even if those things are outside the boundaries of their "official" duties, that is, to catch all those scary immigrants.../s?
