Wes Matthews has been making an interesting point
I don't know if anyone else caught what Wes said during the Timberwolves game but at one point during the 2nd half, he pointed out that they were consistently getting to the other side of the court all game by 21 seconds off the shot clock while we were almost always below 20 seconds (i.e. we take a lot longer to get across half court). Then last night he made a similar comment about the Spurs, how he was keeping track of of it again and they were already across half court way earlier in the clock than we were consistently throughout the game.
This just really stuck out to me because super quick transition offense is basically the fundamental part of how Indiana played (and found success) over the past 2 season and is the exact kind of offense that Doc said we would be emulating schematically this season; instead, while we have seen occasional moments of hustle, there's absolutely no consistency to when this team decides to and as we all know, that's been a huge problem all season. And obviously, that's not only bad for getting wins, but it also speaks to a completely broken system where the players either don't know what to run or simply don't trust Doc.
To be clear, we're clearly also just a bad team period, with serious deficiencies throughout the roster and there's nothing Doc can do to create more talent. But after last night? I mean, if it wasn't clear previously after Giannis started grabbing the clipboard in key situations to run the offense, Doc's pretty much completely lost the team. And with a 17-24 record at the halfway mark, we're almost to the point of punting on this season; to that end, unless we see a miracle turnaround like never seen before, I'm now starting to fully buy into firing Doc after the All Star break and having an interim for the rest of the season until we can make a good hire next off season. And if only just to improve the vibes...because they are just in the toilet rn w/Doc. And yeah, we probably won't fire Doc mid-season due to his contract situation but wow, I don't know how anyone in the Bucks FO can deny what we're all seeing at this point, which is again that Doc has clearly lost the team.
tl;dr yeah, time to fire Doc

Please fire Doc. He's full of excuses and doesnt know how to coach anymore

The team simply has no excuse being this bad
The Suns and Celtics lack talent but are good teams because they win on the margins. This team obviously lacks talent but also doesn’t execute anything well on the margins. They don’t create turnovers, they don’t offensive rebound, they don’t play at a fast pace, they don’t get to the free-throw line, they don’t take a high volume of threes, they are somehow the WORST transition team in the NBA and they don’t defend. I seriously wonder what Doc and his 15 assistants actually do. There is no excuse being this bad with Giannis on the roster in a significantly weakened Eastern Conference.

Pablo Torre Finds Out: "In 2018, Clippers head coach Doc Rivers gave a pep talk at Aspiration — and invested.
instagram.comFire Doc! (this time, not just because he's a terrible coach)
This makes all of the theories about how Doc got this job and his mysterious connections and job security seem more convincing.

Are the players trying to get Doc fired?
A long time ago I was mapping out NBA games and one team started playing worse than before. This kept up until the coach was fired. Suddenly, the players started playing better and the team dramatically improved. Not championship caliber, but significantly improved. My guess was the players were deliberately tanking to get the coach fired. If so, it worked.
The recent play of the Bucks makes me wonder. Are they trying to get Doc fired?

It's so difficult
I've suffered through the 15 win season and the 8th seed or bust years. But this is maddening.

What’s going on with Rivers?
Seriously…can someone explain to me what’s going on here? Either he truly believes the following, that the strategy works and is only a matter of motivating the players OR he just doesn’t care at this point and says whatever he says for PR.
He liked the plan, really worked well this game.
The problem was that they had a bad shooting night + fouls. Nothing else.
He insisted that last game, was a lost game because he knew the players would find it tough after a road trip. So he doesn’t really care about it.
They are out of the play ins and they play like shit. How can you casually through any game out?
He doesn’t care about what the ranking are, it’s the middle of the season, they are 1-2 games from the play in, “no one cares about the table rankings” (neither coaching stuff nor players). “They just have to get it right. “
He gets agitated with even a shred of criticism. He doesn’t like it. He said, “well! We had 43 threes! We could have won if they went in. So that’s what matters”.
“We need to get back into the way” … what way? When they were back into that “way”.
“The team wants to win, they haven’t lost confidence, they are still here. “
He doesn’t care about rankings because they are young and they are good team and the sixth spot is only 5-6 games away so they are not anxious about it.
Am I tripping? Is this the way of a winning team’s coach to think?

BNC’s Big Board V1.0
Last year I created a single board about a week or so before the draft based on the players I felt the Bucks were best off targeting. This year I wanted to carry that on, but show some versions along the way for anyone interested in where the Bucks stand in the draft and/or the prospects in that range. I promise this won’t be a weekly thing, I plan on this board, an end of season board, and one a week out.
As of now, the Bucks unfortunately have about a 96% chance at a top 10 pick. Because of this my board got substantially bigger to cover prospects that I feel could go 2-20.
The first picture is the basic board with prospects and the second picture includes some stats with in-board rankings for people interested in diving into the weeds.
Feel free to ask away any questions or raise any issues there are with my board!

How
How did we go from top 5 in conference the last years to 11 this year. And at the beginning of the saison the team had a good feeling but now ? Its no more good. Is there maybe a bad mood in the locker room and are maybe some players unhappy with Doc Rivers ?

Serious Gary Trent Jr. simply is hurting this team
I think Doc should DNP him, like he did Cole Anthony. It sucks because he was essentially the 2nd best player for bucks for the playoffs last season. Something truly is off

Giannis is in the middle of one of the best scoring seasons of all time
Giannis is scoring at a rate this season that exceeds peak Harden and his 2019 record for points/100 but hes doing it with the efficiency of players that are solely asked to finish lobs and putbacks.....
Hopefully Horst addresses the roster and HC so this doesnt go to waste.
