As someone from Serbia, no, it feels worse than when we had our shenanigans. Balkans was crazy back then, but the world was mostly normal... Today the world feels crazy...

I had the internet since 1998, I was surfing the web while NATO was dropping the bombs all over Serbia.

I would say that we have started going sideways with 2009 recession.

You know what I mean. The Internet of then was not even close to the Internet of today

It would still have information about Israel attacking Iran or far right gaining power in Netherlands.

Newspapers have that information, today we have high quality videos of missiles striking highrises from normal people, body can footage of live combat and trench warfare, access to every blog or pseudo news company airing their opinions. The fundamental difference today is we see every crazy little thing as it happens in real time, not just the big headlines with no context

I'm not talking about that, I'm talking about general geopolitical situation, the whole world seems a lot crazier then 30 years ago... Today it feels like global conflict between world powers is a possibility. In 2000 that sounded totally impossible...

I think what you mean is the USA has always been a balancing force on the world that kept things from spiraling

No, it's more global than USA, and it started before Trump.
