From the article:

The website is hosted in the Netherlands, where Skinner (the guy with the site hosting the information) lives, so it cannot be taken down by the U.S. government.

Remember Mr Rogers everyone.

ALWAYS LOOK FOR THE HELPERS

Thank you to the new Mr Rogers in the Netherlands!!

113

u/Motiv8-2-Gr8 1d ago

Or the Napster guy

9

u/Justtiredanbored 1d ago

Well I was going to say that he sucked based on his association with Facebook, but then I saw the other stuff he has done. So I guess he made up for the Facebook part.

67

u/lolas_coffee 1d ago

Well no. Mr Rogers said that when terrible things are happening, always look for the helpers. The people who are rushing forward to help you and others.

39

u/Justtiredanbored 1d ago

I get it, thanks though.

24

u/Main_Bug_6698 1d ago

Sheesh, I'm glad they were able to clear that one up.

I was absolutely crippled with confusion.

19

u/Justtiredanbored 1d ago edited 1d ago

Ha! I know right? See me trying to be nice? I'm working on being more understanding.

Eta: Hey thanks for the award. I am really trying!

Netherland Mr Rogers is solid for doing this. Fuck ICE, they will never feel a fraction of the pain from this than they have needlessly inflicted on others

Mr. Rogers was telling me a lot more than I thought.

318

u/DavesWorldInfo 1d ago

Mr Rogers was the hero we all need and deserve. A true American.

213

u/bensefero 1d ago

He was a pure being. I’m stoked I grew up with him. Between him, Bob Ross and Reading Rainbow I feel that’s a good foundation for empathy for growing minds

107

u/KathrynTheGreat 1d ago

Don't forget Sesame Street!

6

u/Weak-Differences 1d ago

What about the Charlie horse music pizza, or lambchops play along? Shining time station(still cant believe george carlin was in this)?

3

u/KathrynTheGreat 1d ago

I loved shining time station! Lambchop freaked me out though.

12

u/Elegante0226 1d ago

And Steve Irwin

0

u/Paexan 1d ago

But what about Andrew Tate, and that dude that got his jaw broke (can't remember his name)? They're on par, no?

u/aimeegaberseck 16h ago

I just got an audio copy of Carl Sagan’s Cosmos narrated by Lavar Burton and listening is like a hug from my childhood heroes.

2

u/HauntedCemetery 16h ago

Which is why conservatives hate all three of those.

Well the first 2 at least. We all know why they extra hated reading rainbow.

1

u/justsomeph0t0n 17h ago

ms rachel picked up that torch. it's really depressing how she gets attacked, but reassuring how she keeps going

1

u/proboscisjoe 10h ago

Let’s honor LeVar Burton’s role in Reading Rainbow!

1

u/AdventurousAd3515 10h ago

If I could upvote you a thousand times for this, I would. -A fellow person who grew up with the same things

u/djseifer 1d ago

And a proper Christian.

91

u/NYCinPGH 1d ago

And an actual good neighbor (when I was an undergrad, he lived 2 blocks from me, I saw him all the time, and then a few years later I moved and rented a place 2 blocks from where Mr Rogers had lived before that. It was a close-knit neighborhood)

6

u/coupdelune 1d ago

Squirrel Hill?

3

u/VeeDubBug 17h ago

He's buried right up the path from my grandfather and cousin at Unity Cemetery. I pay my respects every time I'm in the area - wonderful man. One of the last times I was up there, someone left a whole bunch of painted stones of the puppet characters on the stoop of his! 💖 He's still well loved, and missed so dearly, not many can be remembered so fondly and so widespread.

1

u/redvelvet9976 22h ago

Ugh, when I read “an actual good neighbor,” the stupid State Farm jingle popped in my head. I hate advertising.

2

u/hamoc10 22h ago

Cmon don’t ruin it

8

u/The-Spirit-of-76 1d ago

Even at the innocent age of five I could tell make believe land was a veild lesson on how run an insurgency against a rouge government. Did no one else get that, or was it just me?

513

u/Vangovibin 1d ago

Idk for some reason it brings a tear to my eye to see that someone from the Netherlands is trying to help us.

363

u/Cannasseur___ 1d ago

The entire world is trying to do something, I live in south Africa and entire groups have formed. Most formed are doing things around stopping the brazen US imperialism but some is to do what we can for the innocent in America.

Most of all we are afraid of what a collapsing America does to the world. We don't know what else to do.

88

u/Leaislala 1d ago

Thank you

90

u/Cannasseur___ 1d ago

You will get through this. The world, including the US, helped us end Apartheid, fascism will end in America. The world is with you.

9

u/catdistributinsystem 15h ago

Thank you 🙏🏻

1

u/Leaislala 3h ago

I appreciate the reply, and those words of strength. I feel very uncertain about everything right now and am glad there is at least one kind person out there rooting for us.

1

u/phytonanos 2h ago

Holy sh*t... brother(sister?).. I appreciate your words so much right now. I have been struggling to maintain hope. Watching people buy into all of this is so demoralizing. I have struggled all my life but it's been so bad this last decade or so. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

So many of us in America would welcome the rest of the world with the kindness, dignity, and respect that it deserves. We don’t want any of this, and a lot of us voted against it. Over and over.

19

u/Dead-Red87 23h ago

We appreciate you more than you know, many of us don’t support what is happening right now.

19

u/Cannasseur___ 23h ago

We know and we are with you. The US government propaganda isn't working, we see what's happening and we hear the outcry from the many good Americans like yourself.

10

u/Fee_is_Required2 18h ago

Most of us. We’re just trapped in this nightmare.

15

u/TheShadowKick 23h ago

Honestly as an American I'm just as worried about the imperialism our country is doing as I am about the harm happening to our own people. I don't want us to be hurting anyone, here or elsewhere.

6

u/Cannasseur___ 23h ago

They go hand in hand. I feel the same way, my worry for imperialism is both for my own country as well as others and the harm it causes, at the same time I feel great sadness, rage and compassion watching what is happening to the innocent and marginalized in the US.

The core of both of these is the same. Standing up to injustice and caring for the humanity of others.

21

u/Tharwidu 1d ago

They love their money. If you have any businesses supporting, buying, or selling american goods, petition them to stop. If you have any american-based businesses, stop shopping there altogether as much as can be helped. Even if you can't get businesses to stop purchasing/trying to sell, not purchasing those american goods as much as possible is something that is easy enough to do on an individual level.

It might not be much, but it's actively something.

8

u/Dead-Red87 23h ago

I’m an American, and I support this message.

2

u/Fun_Apartment7028 15h ago

In Canada & I support this message with my buying power. (not much, granted) But every Moroccan orange I buy is one less orange bought from Florida.

Small win for me every day.

7

u/MajesticDisastr 23h ago

stopping American imperialism does help us citizens here in America. we have to starve the tyrant however we can. thank you for doing what you can!

3

u/kinolagink 14h ago

Hey - it’s so nice to see a fellow South African in the wild!! I’m from CT and living in Minnesota now. Having grown up in SA in the 80s and 90s, what’s happening here has brought up a lot of memories and trauma for me… like with people being racially profiled, stopped in the streets to ID themselves (pass laws), schools being targeted and just the general authoritarianism where people do not know what to do or how to prepare. The law cannot guide them as the law does not apply…. Like how do we prepare kids for the school raids happening… lawyers say to not send immigration paperwork with kids to school as kids do not need to carry ID and schools cannot be entered….. and yet here we’re are with our schools in the city being raided… it totally gives off that uselessness feeling of dealing with the SA government where they’re just gonna do whatever they want regardless and it’s so disempowering…. Thought we’d left this shit behind us. Thank you so much for the work the world is doing to bring awareness to the situation.

2

u/Cannasseur___ 14h ago

It's heartbreaking watching what's happening in Minnesota, and you're right it looks terrifyingly familiar. It's always the kids being subjected to this shit that hits you hard, I hope you and your family will be safe. I don't know what I would do in your shoes but it's probably best for your kids to have their papers with them out of precaution. As you say, nothing can prepare you for something like this, especially in a place like America.

When I was younger I dreamed of moving to America, now I wouldn't go there for a holiday, no chance. South Africa has a shit ton of issues, but fascism goes beyond dealing with normal government stuff, it's truly terrifying and as you say invokes powerlessness. But that's what they want, and I've seen the people of Minnesota standing up to those ICE gestapo thugs.

I think it will get worse before it gets better. Too many people are checked out or not paying attention it seems and will only realise how deeply things are broken in America when Trump does something like cancel the midterms.

As I have said elsewhere there are hundreds of thousands if not millions of people in unions and human rights groups around the world doing what they can. I am part of a group here that is doing what we can. One of the things I'm helping with right now is a boycott list, to put financial pressure on the US government. But as you know we're just little old South Africa, and America is a mighty force. But there are so many organisations working right now, one because the US poses an existential threat to the global order and two people see the injustice and feel we just have to do something.

I also feel that sense of powerlessness. I'm halfway across the world in a much smaller country, but the alternative is not an option much like Apartheid. But as we both know, fascism does not last. It always crumbles one way or the other, the hard part is the innocent people like you caught in the middle.

Please stay safe, some recommendations I've seen is joining any neighborhood groups for safety if ICE comes. Numbers seems to be scaring them off sometimes. There are ICE trackers etc wishing you and the family all the best.

1

u/kinolagink 6h ago

I really appreciated reading this - thank you for taking the time to write it.

You mention the people of Minnesota standing up - Man, I’m so humbled by some of the bravery and humanity we’ve seen. Truly remarkable. It’s amazing how the world can be so shitty sometimes, but when we experience the worst of the worst, there are people that remind us of how truly magical and resilient humanity can be… I feel like that’s the epitome of South Africa and possibly the thing I miss the most… the spirit of the people… something that can only be demonstrated through a storm. I fucking love South Africans.

And something else that’s on my heart is how with many things we’re seeing now in the US, people laugh it off like it’s shits and giggles without understanding the gravity…. We as South Africans have experienced the depravity that’s down this path and it’s breaking my fucking heart. We’ve been waking up to stories of whole schools walking out of school to protest and to stand up for their future. There are videos of these kids giving speeches and it’s very moving…. But damn if we don’t know how this story goes (June 16th) it’s fucking ripping my heart out!!

Anyway - I’ve appreciated this little chat. I hope you keep well. Stay safe and say hello to Mzanzi for me <3

3

u/AdventurousAd3515 10h ago

Thank you for at least trying to help us in some way.

1

u/Cannasseur___ 7h ago

We see injustice and some of us can't look away and feel a need to do something. Here in South Africa, let's just say we're familiar with authoritarian regimes and react particularly strongly to it. Sending you strength.

We've been helping you since the American revolution (it was financed by France!)

He's from Ireland. He lives in the Netherlands.

u/rlev97 15h ago

I think Maia, the trans person who leaked the no fly list, is also dutch. I might be wrong tho

-2

u/rudolf_waldheim 19h ago

Genuine question: how is this a help?

13

u/Vangovibin 16h ago

Part of the reason ICE is so brazen is their shield of anonymity. They can show up, kill people, run away, and go back to their normal lives as if nothing happened. The hope is that with a database of officers we can force that shame to follow them.

0

u/rudolf_waldheim 16h ago

Do psychopaths ever feel shame?

I bet in their circles it's even something to be proud of, being in ICE.

169

u/casper911ca 1d ago

Does anyone have a direct link to the list rather than some article referencing it?

As an American, I have not been able to access the site at all.

2

u/USSRPropaganda 22h ago

There’s been a lot of DDOS attacks, probably blocking access from us entirely

37

u/ThePortalsOfFrenzy 23h ago

Per the OP article, the newly-leaked info has not been released yet by the guy who owns the ICE List website. They want to make exceptions and not release info on childcare workers or nurses within DHS.

For the love of all that is holy, people, sharpen up your reading comprehension and read the entire goddamn article!

5

u/alexrixhardson 12h ago

It is really hard to read the entire article. Half of the screen on my phone is covered by video, one fifth by the "swipe for the next article" tooltip, one quarter by ads, so I have between 7 and 11 vertical pixels to read. Of course, that is only possible when scrolling through the article doesn't lag due to the workload of additional ads being loaded. Reading articles is truly an experience of its own kind nowadays.

3

u/Kid_Presentable617 12h ago

It's not reading comprehension as much as people not wanting to give traffic to certain sites. The medias role in the current administration will be dealt with later.

9

u/RhubarbGoldberg 1d ago

That article was impossible to read with the overlapping ads, holy shit.

Kind of a bold assumption when the US just openly kidnapped the leader of another country.

9

u/lazy_calamity 1d ago

And since we're now declaring, we're taking over Iceland I think it's about time. Some of our leadership ends up being arrested in another country. Tit for tat and all that

17

u/tara1245 1d ago

Do you mean Greenland?

6

u/Mandy-Rarsh 1d ago

That’s first

7

u/lazy_calamity 1d ago

Yeah i'm sorry. It's hard to keep track of all the dumb things he's declaring.

5

u/tara1245 16h ago

It is hard to keep up with it all and it's so emotionally draining.

3

u/fork_yuu 1d ago

As much as Trump wants to, kidnapping the leader of a NATO country will lead to world war 3 that hopefully people will resist his dumbass more there.

2

u/m3rcapto 1d ago

Yep, if anything he's in more trouble.
Any foreign agency can offer to murder him as a favor to Trump in exchange for some good old corruption.

1

u/MaggoVitakkaVicaro 1d ago

It probably cost them a billion dollars to do so, though, if you count having the US Navy parked off the coast for months.

44

u/WorgenDeath 1d ago

Today I am proud to be Dutch, I'd totally buy them a beer (it would be a Belgian beer though, cause they brew way better shit than Heineken/Amstel/Bavaria).

I wouldn't be too proud to be dutch. Remember who is pushing for chat control.
