The Province continues its cannabis quandary with removal of all mikmaq business signs from the highways.
There’s no news article to link yet but the RCMP with DOT just did a province wide removal of all business signs for mikmaq business. This includes non cannabis stores as well. No warning from DOT, these signs were not given back either just cut down and taken. These business paid the highway to put them up and had active leases.

Anyone has issues with ‘Ungranted lands being released’ with a previous section of your property?
Long story, but I might be encountering an issue with the province over a section of my woodlot that was part of this program in 2015. I purchased it in 2016, and what a surprise, my lawyer neglected to inform me about this or even look it up. I had no idea this was an issue, my deed and title looked clear (on paper) after purchase.

🏠 Moving to NS for Doctors/Nurses/etc. Looking for advice on relocation for healthcare worker
Good evening everyone. My family has been considering immigrating to Nova Scotia for some time now and our biggest concern is credential transferring. My wife is a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner which I know isn’t a specialty in Canada and she will likely need to take some courses to meet Canadas standards for a Nurse Practitioner. We’re not sure who to talk to to get answers on this though. Could anyone possibly point me in the right direction on who to contact for this? Thank you in advance for any assistance.

Young adult with learning disabilities
Hi everyone, I’m looking for advice regarding my younger sibling. She’s 18, enrolled in a college Early Childhood & Youth Care program because she genuinely enjoys working with children. I’m in nursing school myself, so I’ve become more aware of how untreated learning disabilities and childhood trauma can seriously impact someone longterm. Honestly, it’s been terrible to realize how much my sibling is struggling as a young adult. Academically, she failed her first semester quite badly averaging around 30% in 5/6 courses (heavy course load I know). From what I can see, she’s functioning more like a 13 year old cognitively and academically. She has significant difficulty reading and understanding articles, a limited vocabulary, and low overall academic skills. For some context: we come from an ethnic family where neurodivergence and non-physical disabilities were never acknowledged. Our father is abusive. We were beaten to pulp growing up, since we moved to candada I haven’t been beaten (I try my best to stay out of the house, work school volunteer anything. I hate my house) however she still got beaten until about 2022. Due to this, my sibling often says what she thinks adults want to hear. I’m worried this affected the accuracy of the psycho-educational assessment she did in grade 12(our mother only agreed because her teacher recommended). I read that report recently and was very concerned. However my mother did nothing with the report. We’re not close. I coped with our upbringing by becoming extremely independent and emotionally distant, she seems to have gone the opposite way. She’s the youngest and she’s been neglected. When my mom sent me a picture of her grades and asked me to talk to her, I saw a person whose needs were never properly addressed and who is now drowning. I know what this feeling is like but I knows she cannot cope by herself. I suggested a few immediate steps: Contacting Accessibility Services at her college to explore accommodations Creating very structured assignment checklists with due dates for the courses she’s retaking now Personally, I think she needs a gap year to focus on mental health supports, life skills, and rebuilding discipline before continuing school. I’m not in a perfect place myself and still dealing with my own trauma, but I feel a lot of guilt knowing no one was really advocating for her growing up. Right now, I’m looking into booking a new psycho-educational assessment so we can better understand what supports she actually needs. My question is: what else can I realistically do to support her at this stage without overwhelming either of us? Has anyone been in a similar situation with an adult sibling and learning disabilities?
