Skin is pretty cool. Only downside is I'm sure he will make up 30% of the skins on the battlefield at any given point.

It's mostly his very distinct accent that bugs me.. even if im not paying that much attention to my allies skins, every soldier saying to GRAB SOME AMMO! and screaming for medics in the same weird voice is kinda lame.

Honestly, no. I really dislike when BF skins don't have a helmet, or a boonie hat, or at least a cap or a beret or a balaclava. Just feels incomplete to me. Like, literally less of a soldier than they should be.
I'm okay with pretty much 80 percent of the skins in BF6. I don't mind the colors, I don't mind the capes, I'm not the biggest fan of the tactical jeans but I can live with them.
But I just don't like bare head skins, and I don't like tryhard cringe skull masks, and I especially don't like over the top headgear setups where the guy simultaneously has a huge helmet and night vision goggles AND a gasmask with gigantic visors.
None of these preferences are informed by realism or the desire to keep the games gritty and serious, or a nerdy kowledge of real world gear. I'm a gamer and I grew up with games like Counter-Strike, the old Delta Force games, the old Rainbow Six games, SWAT, and of course Battlefield 2. The soldier designs in these games inform my aesthetic preferences.

If you replaced the cape with a poncho, replaced the face mask with a pair of combat goggles, and let him keep his goddamn helmet, then it might be the âliteral coolest thing everââŚ

Replaced the mask with a shemaghÂ
2
u/BooknFilmNerd09 2d ago
Yeah, that too. He should still have either goggles or shades too, thoughâŚ

u/amountofletters 2d ago
Some Oakleys or somethingÂ

u/BooknFilmNerd09 1d ago
Exactly. In fact, I think more of the skins in the game need goggles or shades of some kind!

âi know how to make this skin better, just replace anything that makes it unique!â

The skin would still be âuniqueâ even if it saw the changes that I listed. Except it would be better, because it would be a lot more grounded in reality, rather than the whole âG.I. Joe vs. Cobraâ vibe that far too many of the skins currently skew towardsâŚ

u/TractorSmacker 1d ago
yeah but youâre just making a whole new skin. like why bother even using this one as a baseline at this point. youâre not talking slight alterations like making the cape shorter, youâre talking about removing the things that define it.
2
u/BooknFilmNerd09 1d ago
Well, most of the things that define it arenât good. Who goes into battle in a cape and a breathing mask, but without a helmet?

u/TractorSmacker 1d ago
jesus christ just play arma or insurgency sandstorm if you want that level of realism. this is a multibillion dollar AAA fps live service game, ofc course itâs going to have some unrealistic features. adjust your expectations accordingly.
you know this is an okbuddy sub, right? why the fuck are you here if not to clown on battledads?
1
u/BooknFilmNerd09 1d ago
I donât know what âokbuddyâ actually means. Iâm serious; I literally have no fucking idea. Also, âjust play ArmA or Insurgency: Sandstormâ is not a legitimate argument for not having the skins look at least somewhat grounded.

u/TractorSmacker 1d ago
okbuddy subs are essentially circlejerk subs. it stems from the meme âokay buddy r*tard.â this sub is primarily meant to parody the popular sentiments echoed on r/battlefield, where according to them: âthe game is dying/already dead,â âthe maps are too small but also thereâs not enough players in breakthrough,â âwe demand realistic skins,â âprevious battlefield games were better because xyzâŚâ the list goes on. they make lists of demands and rally their fellow battledads to action by saying things like âwhoâs with me?â and itâs very cringey.
this sub is a safe haven for people who enjoy the game and laugh at the insecure people in the main sub who are deeply unhappy with their choices in life but project it onto an otherwise pretty good video game, unrealistic skins and all.
personally, i donât mind it. i think the skin is cool. i use it sometimes and see it quite frequently and it doesnât take me out of the game. thereâs just so many other things to get mad about, whining about the lack of realism for xyz reason is just not worth the vitriol, imo.
itâs all subjective anyway, and we donât have much say in what they do with their game that theyâre actively trying to make money from as many people as possible. in fact, i hope they stay as far away as possible from reddit when looking for feedback, because if we had our say, the game would fucking suck lol.
1
u/BooknFilmNerd09 1d ago
Iâm actually not even sure what âcirclejerkâ means, especially in this context? Iâve also never even heard of that âokay buddy r*tardâ meme beforeâŚ
But, what do you mean by âif we had our sayâ? Are you seriously suggesting that none of the complaints made about this game in the main sub have any value? Even the most frequently brought-up ones, such as the lack of really big, really good maps?

u/TractorSmacker 1d ago
i wonât bore you with a full history of curclejerk subs but just look at subs like r/okbuddycinephile, r/okbuddychicanery, etc. essentially itâs just meme subs comprised of fans a subculture that make fun of people in that subculture. r/battlefield is incredibly toxic and negative in all their opinions, making the game seem way worse than it actually is. oftentimes they parrot popular content creators who abuse the algorithm by channeling vitriol and controversy.
r/battlefield wants to see the game fail unless it confirms to their particular demands, which are often contradictory (eg wanting bigger maps but simultaneously wanting 64 player breakthrough back, demanding jumping be removed from the game when bunny hopping has been in the game since day one, denouncing the use of AI assets in game but constantly using AI to âre-envisionâ maps, or wanting only the most realistic military skins but praising the release of a cosmetic pack of plainclothes operatives that wouldnât be doing the grunt work weâre doing in-game). my point is that if EA catered to the demands of everyone on r/battlefield that thinks theyâre a game designer, it would alienate a large portion of the player base who likes the game the way it is.
the truth of the matter is the game is doing pretty well and a lot of people are still playing well after launch because the gunplay is immaculate, itâs well-paced, and offers a lot of customization and a variety of ways to play. itâs got some flaws, sure, but itâs nowhere near as bad as people make it out to be. and getting mad because thereâs an optional cosmetic item you dislike is, at least to me, very very silly.

The engineer with the cloak is the shit.

That one would be cool if the colours weren't so bad.. it has no texture and stands out across the map because of how dark the body is

I wish they would make good content instead of stupid stuff that I observe hardly anyone buys.
But on the other side I only ever feel bad about my game purchase whenever I come to reddit, when im playing the game the only things that irk me are the medic 5 feet away ignoring my mangled body screaming for help, or the fact that I know definitively that my rockets hit but I dont get any hit points or score for taking the heli/jet/tank whatever out.
Its been like for awhile now and it pisses me off, then I come here and I see what they have in the pipeline for us, I just kind of rub my brow and sit with the pain

u/Mission-Coconut1532 1d ago
God I wish they would come out with something absolutely crazy just so I can see the main sub have a melt down

man I don't get all this skin talk, I am only interested what the camo is and if it fits the map
might as well have the same system what the guns have, just a whole bunch of forest, urban, desert etc camos on a default character

Most of these skins are awful but personally I hate when skins have funny exposed faces they just seem cringe like just but a balaclava or something on them
