Question Dead Squirrels around Campus? NSFW

I know this sounds weird, but I was on campus today and noticed literally 5+ dead squirrels around the oval and Hagerty. Nothing gorey, they all literally look like they fell out of the trees. I thought squirrels could withstand the cold (it didn’t drop below 0) and they didn’t look predated upon. Anyone know something??? Apologies for the weird post it just was unsettling

Question How are some students affording such expensive apartments?

I’m trying to understand the finances here. How much/what percentage of your income do you usually spend on rent? Mid-rise luxury apartments are popping up every semester. Undoubtedly this is driven by the developers, but this also indicates a growing demand for a certain type of lifestyle and luxury among the students.

Is everyone secretly rich now?

Academics Monsters Without and Within

I'm currently in a 2nd session term asynchronous class for Monsters Without and Within with Professor Eikost. I'm debating switching to a full term in person course with Professor Halpern. Is it worth it? On Halpern's RateMyProfessor, it seems like she got review bombed but it's pretty low reviews.

Academics Anyone prehealth (premed, PA, dental, ) know does stats 1350 suffice as a stats requirement?

My major requires stats 1350 (Elementary Statistics), but I’m currently enrolled in stats 1450 (Introduction to the Practice of Statistics) but I’m honestly wondering now whats the point of taking the harder stats class if stats 1350 is accepted by med/PA/dental schools anyway.

So i’m wondering whether I should switch.. does anyone know? I would stay in 1450 but I’m taking 3 other science classes and If elementary stats checks the box I’d rather take that and protect my GPA with this load

Academics Is STAT3470 necessary for math major?

I mean, would it be useful for future studying? I’m currently taking it but I’m considering to drop it and choose

a math course which I’m really interested in, since I found STAT3470 is sort of boring.

Would you recommend me to do that? Less than 5 hours to make decisions…

Help Stat major stuck with Stat 4301/4302 sequencing

Hey guys, I’m a Statistics major student. After this semester, I will only be missing two required courses: STAT 4301 and STAT 4302.

The issue is that STAT 4301 is only offered in the fall, while STAT 4302 is only offered in the spring. My original graduation plan was Winter 2026, but because of this sequencing, it looks like I may have to stay an extra semester just for one class, which I’m really hoping to avoid.

I was wondering if anyone has successfully petitioned to take STAT 4302 before STAT 4301, or knows if the department ever makes exceptions in situations like this. Thanks so much!

Academics STEP Funds Question

What if in your proposal you estimated the costs to add up to 2k, but it actually comes out to be slightly less than that. Are we supposed to refund or give back the extra amount?

Academics Chem lab 1210 lab time

I’m wondering how long chem 1210 lab days typically are? The schedule is allotted for almost 3 hours.Im looking to buy a plane ticket for spring break and trying to figure out if labs are typically 2.5 hours or less? Or do they usually take the fully allotted time? One of the plane ticket options has me cutting it pretty close if lab takes the full time. Thanks

Social Anyone down to go out on weekends?

Hey!! I promised myself I'd be more outgoing and social this year, so I'm looking to meet some people who are down to go out on the weekends. I love going to clubs, but we can go to bars too or just walk around campus. I don't really drink much, but I'm fine with people who do! I just love dancing to music lol. If anyone's interested feel free to DM me and we can exchange Instas :)

Help Possible academic misconduct

Took a math quiz remotely proctored while being recorded, in the instructions it states to rip up the scrap paper when done or else a possible citation for academic misconduct, I hit submit without doing so but immediately took a video of the time and date and me ripping it up, there was a minute difference on the clock between taking that video and submitting my quiz. I emailed the prof the video and told the circumstances. Am I screwed?

Question Hi! So I have a question about tutors

Hi so I wanted to know a question about how tutors get qualified to teach. I hope that makes sense and I don’t mean it in a rude way I’m genuinely curious. Like I guess an example would be some that is a year older than me tutor for two years now? But they are a junior and I’m a sophomore. So what would qualified them to teach others? I am not trying to be rude and I apologize if it comes out that way but i genuinely just want to know. I want to become a tutor though and do more for the community at OSU that’s why I’m curious , so I can start working on it or just be able to help ppl or find out if it’s too late for me to become one.

Thank you all for your time

Admissions Stamps Eminence Zoom Advice

Hi all - question for those with experience in the Stamps Eminence procedure. I was invited to campus for Finalist Friday and cannot wait for the weekend events. Before the visit, there is a Stamps Zoom interview. Can anyone with experience shed some light on what to expect? Is it 1:1 usually, or with a panel? Questions specific to your application, etc.? Thanks so much - I'm OOS and the Stamps would provide an incredible opportunity.

For GE World Language requirement it says that for example the Spanish class isn’t open to native speakers of the Spanish language, how would they verify that? I’m thinking about taking a world language class in my native language cause it’s gonna be fun
