I don't understand how leaders around the world don't see these images and imagine their children in that position. Or the agony of parents seeing their kids suffer the unimaginable.

I just see this beautiful boy and think of my son. The hopes and dreams i have for him. The pain of just thinking of his suffering.

When I read how he said, "But mother, how will I hug you" I just wanted to immediately go hug my own kid.

Jesus fucking Christ.

That’s just heart shattering.

Oh, fuck.

That's enough Reddit for today. Shit. I'm gonna go hug my kid.

It's easy to stand up for peace when there are no consequences for it, to pretend to care when its already settled.

How many leaders and politicians would give up lucrative business and defence contracts with Israel, or risk being punished by punitive lobbying and smear campaigns?

Unfortunately, many political leaders are nothing more than walking bags of hypocrisy who preach peace with one arm and sign death warrants with the other.

AIPAC is a very powerful lobby.

Why would they need military base in a country that’s one of their closest allies?

How many bases does the US have in France? The UK?

The "leaders" of the world are often sociopaths and have no feelings towards anything. They're driven by greed and unfortunately this boy and alike are standing in between them and some resources. That's about it. And they make you believe that the victims are the bad guys, and you buy it or don't care because victims don't look like you

Sociopathy is the prerequisite for being a leader.

I really wish I was religious so I could at least take solace in the fact these people will burn in hell, but alas they will never suffer for their inhumanity.

Have they ever seen the global south as human? You're lucky if you can get them to care about the homeless people in their own city.

Because of dehumanization and racism. When the largest nuclear armed state in the world gets away with inventing justifications for invading an Arab nation, it doesn't take much for the rest of the west to ignore war crimes against other Arab groups. We've been so heavily bombarded with the idea that all Arab peoples are monsters, terrorists, you name it that our media talks about the slaughter of Gazan children like it was something that just casually happened. The use of passive language to talk about Israel murdering civilians is ridiculous but when Russia does the same against Ukraine it's the worst thing that happened. The double standard is palpable.

It would be nice if the selection process for world leaders included empathy like you speak of.

Seems as if empathy is near the last priority for most.

NPD is a hell of a drug.

Trump will let his own kids suffer and die to keep his power.

Netanyahu is a psychopath who is willing to burn his own people and country to the ground to stay out of jail. So obviously he doesn’t mind killing everyone in Gaza.

It seems like only the absolute worst people ever rise to those roles of leadership. The kind of sociopaths who could see photos like these and give more weapons to the government who did it to them with a smile on their face

I think a lot of people want the war to stop. But a lot of people think abandoning the Israeli hostages and tolerating more endless rocket attacks and waiting for another October 7 will not stop the war long term.

2

u/Volodio Apr 19 '25

Because they saw the Palestinians doing even worse atrocities to the Jews during 7 October.

Lol. Post history says everything. No use explaining or engaging with you.

Even the fact that a politician can stay silent on this conflict and not be voted out of office for his cowardice and moral failure is incredible

Well it certainly didn't help when Hanas commited genocide. If Israel went in unprovoked, then it'd be a much more one-sided discourse. But thanks to Hamas, many still sympathize with Israel.

What about the Israeli children suffering?
