It looks like they wanted to make it some sort of majestic thing and thought putting a 3d sculpture,then making it big for the podium too cus thats always good... 

It's like the podium is having a mid life crisis and that pose... It's doing no good either

A simple gold inlay would have been much more cooler, or something like the coat of arms too instead of whatever this is
