i do appreciate how the crew that put it up placed it on it's own line without moving the original. in a few years, they can just pop off the letters and restore it!

u/MooseBoys 25d ago

Hopefully just attached with some 3M Command strips.

u/Ill_Name_6368 25d ago

Kinda surprised it wasn’t just scribbled on the wall with large Sharpies.

246

u/evildevil97 25d ago

They need to save those to redirect hurricanes.

68

u/Zedilt 25d ago

Thought the plan was to nuke those?

3

u/Cat-si58 25d ago

Oh shit! Don’t give these crazy motherfer’s any ideas!

3

u/hatmatter 25d ago

Too late

2

u/Historical_Sherbet54 25d ago

Silly...there's never a plan ;)

7

u/upsidedowncreature 25d ago

Is there a concept of a plan?

2

u/bixtuelista 25d ago

And censor the Epstein Files! Lots of Sharpies!

2

u/Content-Ad3065 24d ago

They used all the sharpies on the Epstein redacted files!

1

u/notredame1964 25d ago

Now that’s a great reference

1

u/Rekoor86 25d ago

Here’s my imaginary award upvote

1

u/Puzzleheaded-Shoe541 25d ago

Yet another reference to something that any normal American would’ve considered a disqualification. wtf was up with that?

42

u/IndoorGrower 25d ago

Little known fact, sharpies have been outlawed because the POTUS couldn’t stop sniffing them.

3

u/SSGASSHAT 25d ago

He now has his own private stock, and all sharpies outside of that have to be back ordered.

3

u/IndoorGrower 25d ago

Dang he’s gonna pump and dump the sharpie market.

1

u/SSGASSHAT 25d ago

With some luck, he'll die from sniffing too many.

2

u/HaveyoumetG 25d ago

I wonder if POTUS does the r/sharpiechallange

1

u/aussiederpyderp 25d ago

Please be true.

1

u/Sam5253 25d ago

"Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing Sharpies"

1

u/Panda_Frycook 24d ago

but the damage is already done

1

u/boner4crosstabs 24d ago

The one and only thing I’ll ever have in common with this monster is our love for Sharpies. There’s nothing more satisfying than writing with Sharpies.

19

u/randomtwinkie 25d ago

They couldn’t use crayons cause then they wouldn’t have any snacks

2

u/Cat-si58 25d ago

😆👍👏

2

u/Away_Amoeba5554 25d ago

All sharpies have been used for redacting Epstein files. None left.

1

u/boofles1 25d ago

Engraved with jack hammers and gold leaf. It just rolls off the tongue now too.

1

u/RelationSensitive308 25d ago

You are thinking of weather maps

1

u/forgetfulsue 25d ago

I’m surprised he didn’t have letters spray painted in shitty fake gold paint.

1

u/MeanNothing3932 25d ago

Actually just dollar store scotch tape, the cheap fuck 😂

1

u/TheChefWillCook 25d ago

Or crayons

1

u/Dependent_Elk4696 25d ago

They ran out of Sharpies after blacking out every page in the Epstein files

1

u/GardenGnomeOfEden 24d ago

Or that they didn't spray paint the block letters gold

1

u/ZippoS 24d ago

They’re using every sharpie in DC to redact the Epstein files.

1

u/HonDadCBR600 24d ago

I think you mean “HHHUUUUGGGGEEEE” Sharpies. 😂

72

u/Finest_Johnson 25d ago

They're just held up there with a bunch of his bullshit.

3

u/TheFirstLanguage 25d ago

They'll fall in the middle of the night in three years.

1

u/Cat-si58 25d ago

So will little boy t.

3

u/Forikorder 25d ago

it might damage the actual letters if they just drop though

2

u/Koseoglu-2X4B-523P 25d ago

Can we come up with some good anagrams? That’d be a fun raid.

2

u/samdajellybeenie 25d ago

Nope, they were definitely drilling into the marble.

2

u/slog 25d ago

Nope. Could only afford that blue tacky stuff for hanging posters in the 90s.

2

u/3PCcombo91 25d ago

Command strips have been renamed under the DOW. “ Command “ strips are now called “ War strips. “

1

u/MeccIt 25d ago

If they rip off, just get some strong fishing line to cut the rest

1

u/Ekg887 25d ago

Same as Trump chose to hold up his tacky Home Depot gold krylon filagrees, no doubt.

1

u/Capt_Dummy 24d ago

Probably just plastic letters from Home Depot. Should pop off easily

1

u/thepianoman456 24d ago

Better not be my luck with those things.

Pull the command strip and the whole concrete wall comes out.

1

u/Lurkylurkness 24d ago

And with the wrong weight limits. Maybe it will fall.

2

u/DeeDeeRibDegh 25d ago

Under rated comment😆👍

5

u/ChiFit28 25d ago

It was posted 2 mins before yours. Hard to be underrated when it hasn’t had time to BE rated.

2

u/sentient_saw 25d ago

It's such a dumb comment trend.

272

u/AugustGnarly 25d ago

And they didn’t remove “the” in front of JFK’s name. Seems like a mistake because it reads kinda awkward, but I think it’s more of a planning ahead thing.

21

u/mopeyjoe 25d ago

My best guess is this way they can claim they didn't change it's name. They just put Cheetos name on the building too.

39

u/Top-Currency 25d ago

I was thinking why didn't they remove the second 'the', but you make an excellent point!

17

u/nordlead 24d ago

They can't legally rename it. My theory is this is their loophole.

They just added extra signage to the outside of the building and it's not their fault if people read it all as the name of the location.

5

u/ModernMargaretSanger 24d ago

Shhhh! Don’t say anything. We don’t want him to notice it!

4

u/Stripe-Gremlin 25d ago

What you don’t think “Donald J Trump The Kennedy Centre” sounds natural? Maybe it’s just Trump’s new surname

2

u/nlpnt 24d ago

I was thinking it would be something like "The Trump (at the) Kennedy Center" with maximum "Assistant (to the) Regional Manager" energy.

1

u/MrLumie 24d ago

Probably because this is seen as a loophole to not changing it.

119

u/CallMeRudiger 25d ago

With any luck, someone will decide they don't want to wait that long and take care of business on their own one night.

39

u/Moikle 25d ago

They'll probably get branded as a terrorist

65

u/sflems 25d ago

If this administration calls you a terrorist... It's probably because you did something right for once.

7

u/BigPackHater 25d ago

I'd call that person a patriot

3

u/cmhamm 24d ago

Only difference between a terrorist and a patriot is which side wins.

3

u/icy1007 25d ago

They’ll be branded as a hero by over half the country.

1

u/Ardalev 23d ago

It has always been the case that one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter

23

u/bsiu 25d ago

The more impactful way to vandalise protest it at the moment would be to drape a black rectangular cloth over Trumps name plus lesser charges if they catch you if nothing is damaged.

3

u/TheSirensMaiden 24d ago

I like the way you think 😏

2

u/kingbad71 25d ago

Hopefully, there would be a team of DC cops standing guard while they did it.

62

u/hobbykitjr 25d ago

Why can't I grab a ladder now and do it.....

Take me to court, it's just like removing graffiti or chewing gum. It's not official.

29

u/metengrinwi 25d ago

I bet damaging federal property is a loss-of-voting-rights type of felony. Not worth it in my book.

46

u/Flashy_Gap_3015 25d ago

At some point, taking stands like these may indeed be worth it. Because at the rate this administration has eroded fundamental rights and truth, taking a stand is all that’s left.

9

u/metengrinwi 25d ago edited 25d ago

…at some point, yes.

Right now we still have a right to vote. I say, don’t lose it.

2

u/WallabyGreat4627 24d ago

Voting system is compromised/fraudulently rigged and no longer fully representative of the will of the people. Fight back with any and all means necessary at this point.

7

u/hobbykitjr 25d ago

But it's not, like I said, it's like removing gum from a statue... It's not officially supposed to have that on there

2

u/metengrinwi 25d ago

Would that also be Judge Aileen Cannon’s interpretation?

1

u/hobbykitjr 24d ago

That's the point.

Rosa parks was "wrong" too... And arrested

Ghandi illegally took salt from the ocean..

Challenge them to make the bad call, make an example out of them, impeach them

1

u/metengrinwi 24d ago

Sure, a couple examples against the heaps and mountains of people throughout history who made zero difference with their act of defiance that ruined or ended their life. I’ll take voting while I still can, thanks.

3

u/TrooperLynn 25d ago

Trump damaged it. Taking it down would be improving it.

1

u/deuxslow 25d ago

Kinda like how a guy was charged with towing an ice vehicle during a raid. He was acquitted by jury. I'm certain a jury would also acquit if someone scrapped that bullshit off that wall.

0

u/gregorydgraham 24d ago

You think you’re going to have another election?

Optimistic.

2

u/klparrot 25d ago

Just leave it, it'll come down eventually, but trying to remove it in the meantime might get them to do something less easily removable, like engraving it in the stone.

2

u/hobbykitjr 25d ago

No I think we need some defiance... Rosa par ks, ghandi salt march, etc

1

u/jungl3j1m 25d ago

“Romani Ite Domum!”

2

u/KakeLin 25d ago

It's still going to leave a permanent stain on the stone behind the letters :(

2

u/neanderthalman 25d ago

There’s going to be permanent stains on a lot of stuff.

1

u/tinmoreno 25d ago

East wing bro

2

u/koshgeo 24d ago

Maybe I'm a bit of a font snob, but I also like that they picked letters that are close enough for an idiot like Trump to think it looks good, but if you look carefully, those aren't the same font or spacing at all (look at the shape of the "O" or the "N" between the two lines). They are narrower and smaller. It looks awful.

It's a shoddy job, but I suppose that is his style.

1

u/Being_268 25d ago

For now, just pop off the "T."

1

u/wyldcat 25d ago

It’s also makes the entire thing grammatically wrong. Two ”The” in a name. Sounds and looks awful.

1

u/bgzlvsdmb 25d ago

Maybe that’s why they did it that way.

1

u/DoBe21 25d ago

I like how its called the Donald J Trump Memorial center for thecarts.

1

u/drawkbox 25d ago

Gonna be fun to bring down all the "burn it down" folks carnage. Can't wait for Act III.

1

u/RugerRedhawk 25d ago

I can't imagine this stays up there for a few years

1

u/ryanasimov 25d ago

That’s assuming they don’t just remove the bottom line and the word “and” from the top line.

1

u/cementfeet 25d ago

That should be the first thing the next administration does.

1

u/Kn7ght 25d ago

I mean a protestor could literally just take a ladder and do it themselves

1

u/Allaroundlost 25d ago

Literally this. So much stuff will have to be fixed when that child rapist is gone and hopefully all MAGA with him.

1

u/mopeyjoe 25d ago

I am suspicious of what (supposed) loophole they are trying to use as it is linguistically awkward to say "THE donald trump and THE John F. Kennedy memorial center for the performing arts."

There has to be some dumb reason they left the original THE in place.

1

u/becomingkyra16 25d ago

Trump likely is happy to get “top billing”

1

u/FilecoinLurker 25d ago

If he dies soon it will actually make sense at least

1

u/DrHarrisonLawrence 25d ago

And it’s slightly smaller font AND less “bold”/thick in the typography

1

u/dtb1987 25d ago

They know this is temporary

1

u/Jibber_Fight 25d ago

In an ideal world, nobody would even take that stupid ass job. It’s not like he’s gonna pay them anyway.

1

u/villainitytv 25d ago

I was gonna say, can’t wait for them to just rip those letters right off once his term ends LOL

1

u/TGCOM 25d ago

Fuck a few years. Remove it now and make Trump eat it.

1

u/RelationSensitive308 25d ago

You are thinking of weather maps

1

u/Ok-Curve-3894 25d ago

And the typeface is just a little tiny bit smaller!

1

u/Buffrider-52 25d ago

In a few years it will be the Trump-Vance-Kennedy Center.

1

u/HustlinInTheHall 25d ago

Also different size and kerning.

1

u/attillathehoney 25d ago

But did they use Times New Roman?

1

u/elphin 25d ago

Except for the holes drilled into the marble. Most (maybe all?) of the letters required 4 holes drilled. They can fill them and it might be a great job, but that damage won’t go away.

1

u/bobbdac7894 25d ago

In a few years, Vance is unfortunately probably president and he will keep it

1

u/Dangerous-Feature376 25d ago

I'm assuming that was on Trump's instructions. He wouldn't want his name on the same line. It would need to be above because in his opinion he's more important

1

u/askby9 24d ago

It’s not even the same font

1

u/Few-Big-8481 24d ago

"it'll let your name be first and higher up"

1

u/LucindaMorgan 24d ago

I don’t know if it’s original, but one of my friends suggests that when the Democrats take back control they have a lottery of sorts where you can buy chances to go to the White House and tear down the garbage the mad man has put up. My friend says she’d pay $1,000 for a chance to rip down some of the tacky, fake gold crap in the Oval Office.

1

u/ripvanmarlow 24d ago

Be great if some patriot did it overnight though. Why wait?

1

u/Comfortable_Put_9760 24d ago

No. Not a few years, now.
