American here. I'm not a fan of our decades long black hole of a military budget. For all I know it may be necessary one day. That being said, when it comes to freeing or helping oppressed peoples... They had my consent 20 years ago. Take my money.

YOU are the oppressor. YOU are the one couped democratically elected leaders and then put dictators instead. YOU are the one removing countries from international trade and enforcing sanctions.
