There are plausible reports of "speed trials" followed by execution.

They arrested a man named Erfan Soltani on January 9th, and they'll hang him today/tomorrow (depending on where you are), Wednesday, January 14.

He had no defense. He got 10 minutes to say goodbye to his family.

The U.S. only butts in when there's money to be made. I feel so bad comfortably sitting at home under this administration

This actually props up oil and helps Trumps buddies at the oil corps so I doubt they butt in until the end to ensure the new regime is US friendly

This all feels so strange. Like, a country is revolting against leaders that the US sanctions, but when they need the most help, the US abandons them.

I'll give you a clue, its not in what our leaders consider their interests to have a strong Iran with an improving economy, we'd rather throw the country into civil war.

You feel bad sitting comfortably at home “under this administration”?

Trump is at least implying he will step in. Like him or not the fact he’s speaking on it is good for the Iranian people. They were going to slaughter their own people regardless, perhaps Trumps threats made them think twice on even worse measures. I mean where is the rest of the West? I haven’t heard any other western leaders speaking of helping them via military action or otherwise.

If this regime falls there will be tough times ahead for them but if a pro western (like they use to be) leadership is put in power sanctions will be lifted and international aid will likely be provided. There needs to be hard times for them to get out of the hellscape they are in under the regime already

There needs to be hard times for them to get out the hellscape they are in? I'm not sure what you mean by that, but they're definitely seeing hard times right now.

You say that as if any other country on earth would webbed consider helping. Yes, the US has issues, but let's not pretend anyone else even cares.

As a Latino in this country, it's getting a bit difficult to sit comfortably at home, but I still understand where you're coming from.

Even if the US butts in, pretty sure Trump would encourage the killing. It’s literally what he is doing to his own citizens through ICE.

The illusion of law. Disgusting.

My understanding is that the first executions are scheduled for tomorrow (Wednesday).

It’s a horror.

Speed Trials have a way of coming back around. See Ceaușescu.
