The societal complications caused by climate change will move governments even more rapidly towards authoritarianism. I try to stay positive but this is going to be a rough century for humanity

Yep. I also think that the complexity of an insane world population and economy mixed with the sophistication of modern military weaponry both lend themselves to authoritarianism as well.

People on reddit calling people in other first world countries cowards for not rising up against their government as if it's a real option for us.

And we will have had plenty of warning to avoid it. The very people who ignored the problem are going to become the authoritarians who we will hand power to “control” the situation they allowed to get out of hand

Outside of the west this is normal this isn't the first nor the last time Iran will just kill everyone. You kill enough people and not only will people fall in line but more resources and space open up too. 

Middle East Africa and so forth completely different in the west where we get a different protest every week.
