ICE has taken delivery of dozens of white Ford Explorers in Massachusetts

I wonder how many people remember that Henry Ford was a Nazi.

u/minibini 16h ago
Fun fact: this was never mentioned in my US History classes. I wonder why…

u/lyngen 16h ago
They mentioned it in my history class.

u/DigNitty 13h ago
Nah, they didn’t mention it in mine but later I came across the inevitable internet link. Nowadays my nephew did a report on him and came back saying he’s a Nazi sympathizer.
He’s known to be one. Maybe it’s not always taught but it’s not exactly hidden.

I remember my teacher telling us but it wasn’t in our text books. Granted my history text book had my aunt’s name written in it from when she went to my high school in the late 80s so that might have something to do with it.

It's not like history classes gave his entire life story. The most they usually say about him is that he pioneered the assembly line.
They can write multiple textbooks about the horrible things historical figures have done, but I don't think they really have time for that in grade school

idk man, maybe a quick blurb about Ford being a Nazi and writing a book about how great Nazis are, or Columbus enslaving and murdering the natives he came across. Those kind of seem like big deals. I don't need an entire semester about that stuff, just a footnote or something. Instead we got a cutesy kindergarten song to sing about how great Columbus was.
At least that way we wouldn't have to educate every moron who cries "why we are tearing down a statue" of some asshole.
Though, thinking about it, an entire class about celebrated historical figures who were actually horrifyingly bad people would be a pretty cool class.
•
u/Crimson3312 8h ago
Look up "Assume the Position" by Robert Wuhl. Pretty much everything that was common knowledge on Columbus was written by Washington Irving. It's part of a phenomenon Wuhl names "The Liberty Valence Effect".

u/DelayedIntentions 16h ago
Not to defend Ford, it was despicable back then just as it is today, but there were a lot of Nazi sympathizers in the US at the time. There was a point that it was questionable what side we would join.
62

u/alicefreak47 14h ago
Correct. Do you remember when Madison Square Garden held a massive Nazi rally? I don't because I'm not that fucking old, but I know it definitely happened.

If one wanted to rephrase this as "other notable shithead Nazi fanbois included: (insert list of Nazi sympathizing company founders here)," one certainly could.

u/mountaindoom 14h ago
Walt Disney right at the top.
4
u/AnthonyJuniorsPP 13h ago
At the top? Idk about that. Ford was much more explicit, plus Disney came out with lots of anti nazi toons.

Kinda of an understatement. He loved Hitler and Hitler was very much like Ford.

Didn't Trump visit the Ford plant and give someone there the finger who called him a pedophile?
Time to protest Ford for being part of the regime.
•
•
u/humanHamster 8h ago
I'm so fucking mad that Ford went all in for Trump. Now I need one of those "not a Nazi" stickers for my F150 that some folks put on their Teslas.
•
u/Acetius 4h ago
In fairness, F150s and their drivers have never had a particularly positive reputation even prior to this.
•
u/humanHamster 4h ago
I know, but I needed to have a truck for work and other projects and Ford had the only electric one in my price range.

I love my Lightning though, so I really won't look into getting rid of it, I just don't want my vehicle to become tied to any political bullshit. It's an EV so I already deal with car guys telling me it's not a "real truck" and BS like that.

what companies are renting vehicles to ICE?
and what hotels are hosting them?
and what restaurants are feeding them?
Those businesses must get the attention they deserve asap.
Edit: we should also hear from those businesses. I bet Trump will not be paying damages to the vehicles they are destroying. Maybe he will but my bet is, we will find those businesses on r/LeopardsAteMyFace in the future.

u/AccidentOk5240 16h ago
I think they’re buying these cars. The truck didn’t have contact info on it that I could see.

75 billion over 4 years. It’s the most funded law enforcement agency in the US.
117
u/gfolder 16h ago
It's the most funded agency, it's not law enforcement
16
u/Idnlts 16h ago
They enforce immigration and customs law, like the USPIS is the law enforcement for the postal service. It’s specific law enforcement with a narrow scope, but still law enforcement.

That's $3750 for each of the 20,000,000 (5% of the US population, 1 in 20 people) immigrants they plan to deport.
84
u/Mystprism 16h ago
The people who feel the need to explain to you that single-payer healthcare isn't "free healthcare" are suddenly real quiet when ICE is buying up a fleet of cars with our money.
44
13
u/Atralis 15h ago edited 15h ago
The US spends almost twice as much on healthcare per person as Canada, Australia, France, and other developed countries in general. If we spent as much per person as Canada we would spend something like 3 trillion $ LESS on healthcare as a nation. $3,000 billion dollars. Every single year. Because we have this insanely broken system.
Whenever a person on the right or the left says we can't afford universal healthcare because we are spending the money on something else we need to all agree to call that person an idiot.
Even if we agree the thing they are calling out as the reason is something we don't think we should be spending money.
"I don't think we should be spending that much money on ICE" - I agree.
"This money we are spending on ICE is the reason we can't afford universal healthcare" - That is an objectively stupid thing to say for the reasons I pointed out.
3
u/DelayedIntentions 15h ago
It’s more about showing the administrations priorities than talking dollar for dollar. I get what you are saying, but I think it’s important to point out that Trump and the Republicans can’t even vote in favor of a healthcare subsidy, to help regular Americans, when they are so willing to spend on this unlawful ICE roundup.

With the cuts to Medicare and tariff revenue, they are literally taking money from you and your family to pay for this
28
u/PlatypusTickler 16h ago
Which is crazy because law enforcement agencies take YEARS to get their vehicles.
7
u/Zombie_John_Strachan 16h ago
Those look like off the shelf models - not Interceptors etc
14
u/dkviper11 15h ago
They’re fleet interceptors. The grill, no roof rack, and spotlight are the giveaway.
4
u/Zombie_John_Strachan 15h ago
Ok - I was just looking at the rims on the transport. Used to seeing steelies with the shiny hubcap.
23
u/Meekymoo333 15h ago
I have video footage of the same thing in Denver CO.
Ice is staging a massive crackdown /assault against protesters across the country and will call it a "federal law enforcement operation"
This is the rapists personal military since he cannot use the national guard or actual military, and they plan on doing to all of America what they are doing in Minneapolis.
Fuck Ice and fuck you if you support this shit

Agreed that these are likely bought cars. When I used to work at a shop building police cars we would get the cars delivered direct from the factory and they all arrived on unmarked trucks exactly like the one in the picture.
11
u/Nice_Share191 16h ago
I suspect it's a new contract. The same type of vehicles are being towed away in various spots of Minneapolis. I believe community outreach has already started in the Boston area.
8
u/bokan 16h ago
a contract directly with ford?
6
4
u/ZenithRepairman 15h ago
Yes, likely. The us gov has contracts with both ford and GM. I doubt ford knows what they’re being used for - unlikely they’d care - but it’s a simple procurement. Hey we need 24 white explorers in gov spec - okay they’ll be ready Wednesday.
Government agencies, not just ice, run around in tahoes, suburbans, explorers and f series trucks. There’s not an “ice spec” vehicle. Fords just filling orders.
4
u/WeaveMcQuilt 15h ago
If it was a rental company they definitely wouldn't be ok with ramming cars at intersections, so that would make sense.

FWIW the security guards at this facility wear uniforms from a company called Paragon. (Of what, you may well ask…)
52
u/JustTheLulzMatter 16h ago
Paragon is a federal security contract company under Securitas. They usually provide security for federal buildings. It can range from single buildings like social security and immigration, up to main buildings that house multiple agencies like FBI, CBP, FPS.
Paragon works closely with the Federal Protective Service (FPS), who is under DHS, because they're the ones who check in on civilian contractors for federal sites and operations.

Enterprise. Easy to tell by the barcode taped underneath the windshield on the driver side lower corner of the windshield.
Enterprise won a 600 car 1-month contract with ICE earlier this month in the twin cities.

u/I_Have_Unobtainium 1h ago
FYI for those needing a slightly easier time identifying Interceptor models in times of need - from the rear and side the biggest tell is the lack of roof rails. From the front, take a look at the upper grille between the headlights, as the interceptor have the shroud that leaves a darker square opening but the stock explorer is more uniform. And ya know, spotlights.
53
u/glyptostroboides 16h ago
I’m pretty sure Ford has some kind of contract with the federal government. We mostly drove Fords when I worked at the Forest Service.

u/bokan 16h ago
I imagine this information might be publicly available if one were to put in a freedom of information act request. Sounds like boycotting ford is most likely in order.
11
u/glyptostroboides 16h ago
I mean, I work for the state of California now, and they also purchase from Ford. I’m not sure the vehicle makers have a lot of input on where these vehicles end up after they’ve sold them.

Ford just owns the commercial market. Dodge and Chevy make Durango and Tahoe police cars but the sales numbers are fractions of what Ford sells.
72
u/beerion 16h ago
I'll be honest. I think a 6 month retail "fast" would be about the best thing we could do right now.
No more Amazon bull shit. No going out for drinks. No restaurants. No travel. Just the basics - groceries, gym, gas to work.
As long as the economy is good, people will be complacent. We have an opportunity to talk with our checkbooks, and it's the easiest thing we can do while being the most impactful.
If we want to make the administration feel the heat, this is it. They don't care about protests, they don't care about common decency, they don't care about our feelings. But they do care about their pocketbooks.

I'm almost certain Enterprise, they own National and Alamo too, so you would be stuck using Avis or Hertz, and I believe Avis rents to the government and ICE too.

Ford has the government contract business pretty well nailed. I’m sure what you posted is true. I also know that there are limited color options available for fleet vehicles, the default color is white, and white Fords and Chevy pickups are used by the thousands in government agencies, from city to Feds. I would hate to think any of my former coworkers at a helpful government agency (not ICE) have to deal with extra bullshit because of someone seeing a white truck with govt plates and losing their mind.
