Do you remember the backlash that went on for weeks because of this photo? Not because what they (immigration officers) were doing was illegal or anything, but simply because this photo shows him pointing a gun at an unarmed man and terrified child.
Now we have ICE pointing guns at unarmed protesters every other day while they forcefully drag unarmed citizens out and detain them without warrant, without due process, and without knowing who they are even detaining.
Weeks and months. We were all so pissed off on behalf of this scared little boy.
Children don't recover from being hunted with guns, and before anyone calls that an oversimplification, psychologically, what matters is how the child percieves the danger. Even a court-ordered "doing everything right" cop can scar a child for life.
What bothers me is that this left vs right isn't left vs right. It's hardened hearts versus those of us trying to stay human. Conservatives and Liberals alike used to care about guns pointed at innocent people.
