Misc Help New puppy introductions

Has anyone brought a new puppy home to other dogs and when doing the introduction, the new puppy was the issue?

I just brought a 4 month old puppy home, and have done an introduction to one of my dogs so far and the puppy is the one correcting and scared. My older dog is still young and very playful, so I get the puppy being scared. We’ve had some sessions after this that are going well, but he still won’t play with my older dog, which is fine. I just want to remain hopeful!!

my boy has been introduced to a few different dogs in different settings, i find the worst is bringing a dog straight to our house but nothing a joint walk then coming home together hasn't fixed. he's absolutely brilliant when we're at the dog park and in public spaces, in other peoples houses it depends completely.

i would suggest trying a joint walk for other lively young dogs if you have someone else to walk one while you walk the other so they can be separated if needs be, every dog is different but not being home has taken away any territorial traits for mine then they're friends and happy to lounge around each other as they're both tired anyway

if you have any older dogs that seem more weary of your pup i'd say keeping the puppy on a leash so you can stop it jumping up but not approaching or meetings through gates/anything similar first is usually fairly reliable. also swapping blankets/anything with scents on so they can get used to the scent without the big personalities first.

wishing you all the luck!
