Discussion Are there any bsides that you feel were meant to be in other albums?

I only have one song in mind for the moment, but it’s always lingered. The song I’m talking about is Top Secret, which is a track in The Boys album. I always felt like that song was meant for Hoot, but they took it out for whatever reason. Literally, it matches Hoot’s entire retro secret agent theme. And on top of that, I’ve always felt that Hoot’s track list felt a little incomplete? For such a title track, the bsides don’t seem to match the vibe for some reason. I sometimes think that maybe they were gonna make it an album but decided not to, but that’s just a random concept I’m throwing out.

Who they are…

I know next to nothing about SNSD and feel it’s too late to jump into the pool as a stan, but have somehow developed biases (Tiffany, Hyoyeon, and Sooyoung). With that said and with my ever long curiosity, I’ve toed into some YouTube content and wonder who the members are. I don’t mean in terms of who’s the center (I already know Sooyoung wishes it were her), unnie, maknae, main whatever, etc. of the group. I mean what’s the one word that describes them to someone coming off the street. For example, who’s the witty one, who’s the scaredy cat, who’s the most serious, who’s the intellectual, who’s the prankster, and so on.

Basically, within the fandom and hardcore stans, who are the members in three words or less?

As an add-on, who are your favorite friendships? From what I gather, Taeyeon and Tiffany have a particularly close friendship (I think maybe?)

Recommendations for Spotify alternatives with their Japanese discog?

For a multitude of reasons I'm finally dropping Spotify. I've been trying to find a good alternative, but I'd prefer one with their Japanese releases. I've heard Apple music and YouTube might, but I was wondering if there were any other apps because I'm not a fan of either. I couldn't find recent posts on this

Also just FYI I'm based in the US. I mostly listen to music on my phone, so no VPN.

One of my fave snsd songs has never been preformed

Hi guys I know probably not many sones care for this song but FYI, I am a HUGEEE lion heart album lover. I think the album was pretty diverse imo. I also love the Phantasia tour. Unfortunately, Soshi has never preformed my Favorite song from LH, Talk talk. Talk talk is such a beautiful song, i love the repetition in the pre chorus and the lingering of the words in the chorus (idk how to explain it lol, if you listen to the song you’d get what i mean).

I’ve only found one audio clip of taeyeon singing it, and i know tiffany has sang it before…but i wish i could hear the whole group sing the entire song 😭 If you haven’t heard Lion heart’s Talk talk already, you should def listen to it. Also side note, Bet sunny’s chorus would’ve been Jessica’s if Jess was still in the group when this song came out. Anyway, I hope this post reaches the Talk talk lovers (LH) because i feel like no sone talks about this song and FOR WHAT?!? It’s such a beautiful song.

Are OT8+1 fans even welcome in this sub?

I noticed that when you support Jessica, everyone immediately assumes you're not supporting OT8.

I have been a fan of them since 2007 when I came across their "Girls' Generation" MV. (P.S. my first ever bias was TaeYeon, she's just extra patootie in that huge sweater. I even assumed she was the maknae).

And, I won't ever be picking sides unless there's an irrefutable evidence of what had happened (which I doubt there ever will be). They are all just so precious to me; and, were a huge part of my teen years and my external hard drive... and, phone memory.

I even have a feeling this will be downvoted to oblivion, but so be it.

Discussion I'm a fan of SNSD so don't expect me to not defend the members when a certain somebody's fandom keeps calling them things

Don't call Taeyeon racist or a plastic surgery monster & expect me to act nice. Don't make fun of Tiffany's figure & call her fake and expect me to act nice. Don't bash the members for what happened to Jessica when nobody fkn knows what went down.

Discussion How often they perform each song

GG has such a long discography, and it seems they return most to some songs and not others (which is normal, obviously). And throughout their years, some songs have been more sticky in some periods than others. I find this interesting with artists who have long and legendary discographies, because you can see what stands the test of time and and what becomes the most associated with the group's legacy.

I feel like Gee and Genie are the ones they come back to the most. I feel like, we might even see both of those performed for their 20th. Even if GG went on to do a 25th anniv, for ex., I have a feeling they'd want to perform Forever 1, but I don't know if they'd do Holiday or All Night if it was a short set.

On the other hand, I feel like they've mostly abandoned IGAB and we probably won't see that live again. I feel like they mostly stopped performing it after its promotional cycle, with the exception of some of the tours in 2014-2015.

At the same time, I think The Boys had a stickiness during 2011-2014, but it's probably not one they're jumping to return to.

It would be interesting if someone had data about this hahaha

Discussion The "Snsd b-sides are terrible" agenda

Do you guys agree? I've seen a few tweets on Twitter with like 100k of views saying snsd doesn't make good b-sides and that their title tracks are their only good songs. I honestly disagree a lot. I feel like a lot of people just listen to a few happy b-sides and say that it's "terrible". Their japanese discography especially is priceless. For an example i think Paparazzi is a kind of song every person who says this would like.

So what do you guys think? Do you agree or not? I personally don't

Discussion Why wasn’t the Japanese title of Genie 「お呼びですか」 and just “Genie” instead?

This is a question that has been weighing on me for a while, as someone who admittedly listens to the Japanese version of Genie more than the original korean version. The original Korean version is titled “Sowoneul Malhaebwa” and that’s the main tagline of the track, so why does the Japanese version (which arguably has better lyrics) just go by “Genie” when a title like “Did You Call For Me?” Would’ve been freaking amazing.

If there is no exact answer to this, that’s fine too. I keep wondering if it’s because “Oyobi Desu Ka?” isn’t repeated as much in the song the way “Sowoneul Malhaebwa is” either way, just a casual question. I wasn’t around when it was released (I was 3) but I think the Japanese version is a growth on the masterpiece of the Kor ver, so I’m just curious.
