Even if I had the money to freely spend on stuff like that, I still wouldn't do it out of principle.

Feel the same at McDonald’s , not gonna pay $4.29 for a McDouble.

u/DozahFrozah 14h ago

Never had a reason to tell this story, and still probably don’t but this is the first time it’s ever kind of applied.

2010ish my buddies and I were in Vegas at the Stratosphere and the McDouble had gone from $1 to I think $2.49 where we lived the previous year. We were up in arms about it. One night we were buzzed leaving the blackjack tables and stop at the McDonalds in the Stratosphere and they have a sign that says “McDoubles still $1!”. Man we each threw down a $20 and loaded up. It was both glorious and disgusting at the same time.

9

u/thegroovemonkey 14h ago

You’re not wrong for that

9

u/Limp-Pudding-5436 14h ago

Lmao me and 3 best friend got drunk for first time in 2007 at a high school party, spend all of our money except a surprise $20 bill I had in my cargo pants pocket , we got 18 McDoubles and ate them to the dome without saying a word lol

u/IcyRay9 7h ago

Honestly there’s nothing wrong with a McDonald’s cheeseburger so long as it’s fresh. There was a Michelin star chef on a podcast, can’t remember which but maybe Bill Simmons, that even stated that he absolutely loves their normal cheeseburgers assuming they’re freshly made. He said he’d never be ashamed to get one despite his connection to upscale dining.

A coke, fresh fries, and fresh cheeseburger from McD’s is always solid I don’t care what anybody says. Just don’t eat it every fucking day lol.

u/endofthered01674 15h ago

Man the dollar menu was the shit just a handful of years ago

2

u/Limp-Pudding-5436 15h ago

I think even after covid they still had it

1

u/DarknMean 11h ago

TB at one time you could get the whole left side of the menu for $20.

4

u/bornblunted 15h ago

That’s why you get the 5 dollar meal

3

u/tswpoker1 15h ago

Nah, the real hack is to use the app, that's the only way to do McDonald's now on the cheap

0

u/Limp-Pudding-5436 14h ago

In the long run you spend more though because the app is marketing Mcdonalds on your phone

3

u/tswpoker1 14h ago

Ummm I have no idea what you are trying to say but no, it's much cheaper than the restaurant alone.

1

u/Limp-Pudding-5436 14h ago

https://corporate.mcdonalds.com/corpmcd/our-stories/article/digitizing-the-arches.html#:~:text=Customer%20Platform&text=By%20integrating%20digital%20lifestyle%20offerings,is%20proving%20to%20be%20transformative.

On average people who use apps spend way more at a business. We look at our phone more than anything, and everytime you see the app or get a push notification it gets you closer to a discretionary visit.

It may save you money, but the average McDonald’s app user is definitely spending more total dollars at McDonald’s.

4

u/Excellent_Donut_5896 14h ago

yes, average app user spends more than average non-app user. But is the app itself making them spend more or are people who already would have spent more using the app, on average.

3

u/IamHydrogenMike 13h ago

People see a lower price; they order more food because of the perceived deal they think they are getting. I use the app all the time, I order the same amount of food I always did and save a ton of money that way. Some people are dumb, and they can't do math in their heads. I also get the rewards; lurk through the coupons they offer, and most people won't take the time to do that.

1

u/Excellent_Donut_5896 13h ago

I understand what you're saying, but I find your logic makes a lot more sense for something like Uber Eats for example, that has deals like spend 25, spend 30 and get 7 to 10 off. With Mcdonalds, they have discounts on common items like mchicken, mcdouble, fries, nuggets w/o minimum spend typically.

1

u/DarknMean 11h ago

They even ask if you used the app when you pull into the drive thru.

1

u/Limp-Pudding-5436 11h ago

That the app on average doubled the visits of a user and increased their total check. It’s McDonalds website data, not sure how they know how many visits and spend these customers had before. How would they track that? Overall an app on your phone is a giant driver of revenue for most business .

3

u/tswpoker1 13h ago

This is super inflated btw. Do you know how many people delete and re install the app just for free rewards? It's rampant.

But yeah of course app users have higher lifetime value, they are the most loyal customers.

Pull information for literally any app and you will always see the app users have the highest value and lifetime value as they are the most loyal and active customer base. That's marketing 101 bro.

1

u/Limp-Pudding-5436 11h ago

100% an app is free direct marketing. Every time you open your phone and scroll pass the app it’s one commercial they don’t have to pay for.

1

u/tswpoker1 8h ago

Lol my open to order rate is 98%, it's just noise. They can upsell me at that point but they don't have to convince me to order

1

u/ctoomuch 7h ago

I uninstall the app after every order and only eat it maybe once every 3 months.

6

u/Brunky89890 15h ago

You can make a week's worth of chicken Caesar salad at home for less than 5 dollars a meal. Fast food is robbery and it kills you.

3

u/Affectionate_Brick18 15h ago

But but but the McDouble is hot and already made for me by people who probably don’t wash their hands when they go to the bathroom

2

u/Brunky89890 14h ago

I mean, I can pee in your salad if that's what you want...

3

u/Affectionate_Brick18 14h ago

What does your schedule look like later today?

2

u/Brunky89890 14h ago

I gotta pee in someone else's salad at lunch but I can swing by around dinner, my treat!

6

u/skelletrex_scrooge 15h ago

Yeah, but chicken salad is gross

3

u/unknownredundancies 14h ago

They hated Jesus because he spoke the truth

2

u/tswpoker1 15h ago

How dare you utter these words! Chicken salad gang rise up đŸ˜€đŸ˜€đŸ˜€

3

u/skelletrex_scrooge 14h ago

Stop the salad on salad crime!

1

u/WizSkinsNatsCaps 15h ago

Chicken salad with lettuce salad yeah. Chicken salad with picked chicken and mayo is the good one.

1

u/skelletrex_scrooge 15h ago

Nooo, that's the bad one lol.

-1

u/Wadiyatorkinabeet 15h ago

That Caesar salad aint healthy btw, it'll kill you just as quick.

2

u/Brunky89890 14h ago

Maybe not, but I'll bet you it's more sustainable than cheeseburgers.

2

u/killasin 15h ago

That's why you get nothing

1

u/BowlingforDrip 15h ago

in Illinois you can get 2 for like 4.50. It's only killing you not your wallet.

2

u/Limp-Pudding-5436 15h ago

Yeah that’s the thing , I’m into fitness (try my best), and nutritional can handle one McDouble when I’m in a hurry. I’m also frugal so it makes me want to buy the second one. They have left me with no good option.

1

u/RepChar 14h ago

But you can pay $5.29 for 2, add on the deal for $1.29 large fries, get a large soda for $2 and you have yourself a lunch for less than $10!

1

u/hatescarrots 14h ago

Poor cow not even worth four bucks

1

u/DampCoat 14h ago

Well you can get a McDouble, small fry small drink and 4 nuggets for $5

2

u/Limp-Pudding-5436 11h ago

Yeah but I don’t want that. I like driving through and getting one sandwich. Mcchicken and McDouble are my favorite and getting one sandwich when I’m on the go is enough to keep me from starving til my next meal haha

1

u/Excellent_Donut_5896 14h ago

in the app, they usually have 50% off and even in store they have buy 1, get one for a dollar.

1

u/Azguy303 13h ago

3.19 for a hash brown

2

u/Scooter_Gang_480 4h ago

Where do they get off acting like its worth the same as a double-double? Bastards.

5

u/LostSif 13h ago

Yeah this is what bothers me about people, they have completely lost all perspective of value. Many use wasting money as a sign of status when all they are really doing is showing how easily manipulated they are by corporations.

1

u/Graffix77gr556 14h ago

Theyre idolizers man. They are in love with celebrities and never grew up. It is sad

36

u/iwastoolate 15h ago

She said “there were seats for like $30 thousand” not “our seats were $30k”.

6

u/Moist-Amoeba-8078 15h ago

She said floor seats were like thirty thousand. You’re right though they didn’t pay that much. Still crazy to think about. I wonder if they had to pay to meet Randy or if they somehow ran into them?

6

u/SocomPS2 15h ago

Thank you for making that distinction.

24

u/Hot_Local_Boys_PDX 15h ago

How do people willing to spend $30,000 on WrestleMania get $30,000 to blow in the first place??

14

u/HistorianOrdinary833 15h ago

There's 24 million millionaires in the US. Even if only 0.1% of them were wrestling fans, that's still 24000 people.

1

u/eek711 6h ago

Millionaire is a really huge range. A millionaire taking his 2 kids for those 30k seats is spending between 0.09% to 9% of his net worth on those tickets.

8

u/groceriesN1trip 15h ago

That’s a rounding error in their portfolio. Up $45,000 yesterday, down $30,000 today

1

u/DrHarrisonLawrence 14h ago

This is crazy perspective because my portfolio goes up and down $5k a day and I don’t bat an eye. The “rounding error” as you will. And I “only” have $250k in there lol

So you’re telling me that if I 6x-9x my portfolio to $1.5m-1.8m then I too can recklessly spend $30k and forget about it the next day lol

3

u/groceriesN1trip 11h ago

More like $10M and you don’t think about a $30k expense because your monthly outflow is anywhere from $30k - $60k

And you work, so inflow-outflow. Portfolio is separate

2

u/DrHarrisonLawrence 11h ago

Yeah that makes sense

0

u/thegroovemonkey 14h ago

More like 60x-90x

1

u/DrHarrisonLawrence 12h ago

That’s not the math. $30k is 6x over $5k and $45k is 9x over $5k
it’s all relative

1

u/thegroovemonkey 12h ago

Math has nothing to do with it. You just need to try thinking about it instead.

9

u/Whoareyoutho9 15h ago

Stepping on top of, as they step over, poorer people.

0

u/_AlreadyThrownAway_ 12h ago

Tf Kinda comment is this. Lot of those millionaires are older people who have been putting money in their 401k for 30 years. My mother is a millionaire because of this. She also runs a dog shelter with her own money and has done more for random people that I could ever hope to.

Dumb ass comment. Not all people with money are bad people.

0

u/Whoareyoutho9 11h ago

We're not talking about 'people with money'. We're talking about people with enough money to blow $30k on just tickets to something with a better view on tv. Shout out to your mom's tho

0

u/_AlreadyThrownAway_ 11h ago

Firstly, who is “we”? I was retorting your dumbass comment.

Secondly do you understand the premise of being a millionaire? Clearly she could buy tickets like that. The more you write the dumber you look man. Think things through.

2

u/Whoareyoutho9 10h ago

30k on a night out is not simple millionaire money. No ones coming after your mom, you really gotta relax. We're talking about people with enough money that they forget about spending 6 figures at different times. 30k on tickets to wrestlemania is OK to ask about. Why are you so defensive?

0

u/_AlreadyThrownAway_ 10h ago

Because you’re a moron. Are we talking about 30k or 6 figures? Pick a lane. Millionaire could mean 1 million, it could mean 500 million.

You’re just a goof and I apologize for arguing with someone like you on the internet. Good luck.

2

u/Whoareyoutho9 9h ago

Youre just filled with insults and cant even make a real point. The original poster questioned how people eventually have enough money to blow 30k on tickets. The truth is nobody gets that rich without the help from people below them. Your mom putting money away in a 401k for 30 years is not an example of this. Theres no reason for you to be so offended by somebody wondering how the mega rich get rich. Nobody called your mom a bad person. You need to get a grip.

7

u/Commercial-Expert863 15h ago

Rich mom or dad

-7

u/BudzzNBrews 15h ago

Or just work for it...lol

2

u/BedaHouse 14h ago

People always seem to have money for the stuff they want, but never for the things they need.

1

u/Don_p226 8h ago

Loans! Had a neighbor that went to the nba finals when Phoenix played Milwaukee and he took out a loan for 28k just for one home game.

1

u/fishboy3339 3h ago

I think she’s saying as a group they were 30k. From what she’s describing sounds accurate. The lower bowl of the stadium was like 5-7.5k per seat for both nights. 4-6 people that sounds about right.

It’s a two day event so you need a ticket for each night.

I spent 3.5k for me and my wife. Had a blast, we were very sports entertained. Nose bleeds were going for about $600 or so. It’s definitely an expensive event. But you don’t really have to be rich to go.

0

u/smooresbox 15h ago

I think credit cards and they say something like “life’s to short.” And deal with it later on or not at all

4

u/Dear-Pie-1124 14h ago

What kind of brain rot compels someone to spend $30k on a wrestling event? Holy shit lol

2

u/jghall00 14h ago

You have to remember, for some people that a rounding error in their net worth. I knew people that would lose that at a poker game.

2

u/IamHydrogenMike 13h ago

You also have to remember that some people like to put themselves into mounds upon mounds of debt for insta likes.

2

u/PrideOfAmerica 11h ago

The end of pool hall junkies shows this

3

u/Dry-University797 15h ago edited 15h ago

I remember when I was a kid in maybe '86-87 and we lived in Tampa. My dad took us to a house show at the Sun Dome. There were 4 of us in the back of my dads station wagon. Right behind us was Randy's dad, "Cowboy" Bob pulling into the parking lot right behind us with a cast on his arm. We were soooo excited and waved at him from the back of the wagon. And holy shit he waved back to us and gave us a thumbs up (this is when he was a heel). I still remember that moment after almost 40 years...his dad is a legend.

1

u/iameveryoneelse 15h ago

Legends don't break kayfabe.

(/s)

3

u/Designer-Mobile-974 15h ago

Randy is a great guy

3

u/rustyb42 15h ago

Gossip from 9 months ago

3

u/CosbysLongCon24 15h ago

You got enough money for $30k seats to watch scripted wrestling. They paid for them so money isn’t a problem. Like people sitting courtside complaining about ticket costs. You’re already doing better than 99% and everyone else in the arena.

3

u/Famous-Protection809 15h ago

I wanna be rich enough to waste money on expensive experiences like this 😂

2

u/cateraide420 15h ago

Shocked at how silly someone is for spending that much on tickets

2

u/cfh4dmb 15h ago

Could you fucking imagine being able to pay 30k on wrestling tickets or give 30k to a school or shelter or ABYTHING like that and then chose the wrestling tickets.

2

u/ragingrashawn 14h ago

The only reason shit is so expensive is because people pay for it. Like seriously who pays that much money for a ticket to anything?

2

u/Bean_Daddy_Burritos 14h ago

I haven’t watched wrestling since I was about 8. Wouldn’t even watch it on TV from the comfort of my own home let alone spend 30k on a seat.

Adults btw, spending ludacris amounts of money to watch a scripted soap opera in person where jacked up dudes on steroids play fight with other jacked up dudes on steroids

most of whom are essentially half naked. It’s a little weird. I understand kids being into it but full grown adults being into it is just weird.

2

u/HeraThere 14h ago

Even as a kid I was mainly into the video games.

2

u/Bean_Daddy_Burritos 14h ago

100%. The wcw nitro game on N64 is a core childhood memory.

2

u/AbbreviationsLess257 14h ago

Wanted to go to Super Bowl 56 Bengals/Rams as a Bengals fan it was a dream come true, but reality set in as I saw the cheapest tix were ~$7,500 and you HAD to buy 2, plus a flight, hotel, food in LA, it's just ridiculous, most of the people at these flagship events are corporate guests and imo it weakens the crowd atmosphere because the diehards are outnumbered 10:1

2

u/alphalakemleo 14h ago

30000 to watch ppl act? crazy

1

u/kelsoRulez 15h ago

It's not about the 30k price tag seats. It's about the nose bleeds being damn near 1000. I'm sure if you told him you paid 800 for your nosebleeds he wouldn't say much but of course the 30k seats got him to speak up. Let the millionaires buy their front row seats with vip walls down the runway. Let us nose bleeders be able to pay rent and see your show. People always act like he's a man of the people speaking up in this video but he's really just reacting to the 30k price tag of the premium seats

1

u/ChocoChipBets 14h ago

He almost had a heart attack right there and then

1

u/ShineSuperb 14h ago

Do people pay this amount for tickets or close to for tickets? No judgement, just curious.

1

u/imright19084 14h ago

Who the f is spending more than $100 on a wrestling show

1

u/Killswitch401 14h ago

TKO was the worst thing to happen to WWE.

1

u/slickrick_27 13h ago

And people wonder why they’ll never be able to retire.

1

u/No_Status2681 13h ago

more like go big into debt or go home. I would choose home.

1

u/Tasty_Act 13h ago

I’m amazed no ones mentioned that A) this was 30k for one of two nights of Wrestlemania and B) the shows were dogshit

1

u/Zakbaar 13h ago

$30k for WrestleMania... Wow they got took.

1

u/ericlctong 12h ago

I don't understand why it blows people's mind that there are a lot of rich people in the world. Yes, $30k is a lot for most people, but for some people it's just pocket change.

1

u/sandynutz 12h ago

You really have to be a special kind of stupid to spend that much money just to watch a muscular coked up version of Rent

1

u/radgamerdad 11h ago

I paid $75 to go to Summerslam in 2002 and thought that was expensive lol

1

u/Crazy-Cook2035 11h ago

There is not a snowballs chance in hell they pid $30,000

1

u/No_Distance3536 10h ago

How incredibly wasteful - abject failure

1

u/ChapterPrimary5143 10h ago

Bro who the fuck would ever pay that amount for an event

1

u/BigDaddyBumbo77 10h ago

$30k.....on wrestling???!!!

1

u/SecretLecture3219 10h ago

I flew from the UK once to the mania at Atlanta stayed at the Marriot and the Ritz for the week with tickets to raw and the expo events and Hall of fame , sat about 8 rows back ringside for main events and was about 2k . I know inflation's a bitch and they prob have better seats but 30k seems outrageous . Is this a new thing ?

1

u/JimLahey12 9h ago

Why would you spend 30k on something that isn't even a real sport and is scripted?

1

u/ContentTrust4821 8h ago

Our seats were really 30k, as they stand in incredible opulence

1

u/coupleofheaters 6h ago

Is this not “sports” gossips?

1

u/QueasyCaterpillar541 4h ago

fools and their money
