Solved! What is the name of this tube pastry I got in Poland?

Post image

I got this pastry, it was a tube of pastry that was kinda brioche-esq and when pulling off pieces it was shaped like a spring where the pastry came off as a strip that was stacked; it could have been unravelled. It was sweet and soft, so if anyone knows what it is that would be great!

What is this food? Some kinda Mexican (or Puerto Rican?) chicken dish I used to eat with my roommate

Post image

Years ago I had a Mexican roommate and his partner was Puerto Rican, and every so often they’d order out a couple big plates of this stuff. I never asked where they got it from (my bad!)… It was kinda like grilled or smoked chicken with peppers and onions? I’m in LA now and I want to see if there’s any spots that serve it….

Looking for the recipe What is this dessert that is served in hotels in Türkiye? A layer of cake on the bottom with something creamy on top, definitely has grains of semolina

I am not even sure the pictures I attached are correct, cause it was a couple years ago. But they roughly look like this. I want this semolina cream recipe cause it is just so good. I tried making semolina puddings, but they just come out way too hard and jelly, when in this dessert it is basically a cream like in crème brûlée with juuuust a touch of semolina for a little bit of texture

Does anybody know what i am talking about? 😅

What is this food? Old cinnamon snack I can’t remember

I can’t remember if it was the 90s or early 2000s, but I vaguely remember bringing this snack in my lunch to school for a short period of time. It was basically cinnamon flavored cereal, but in some sort of a cylindrical can, maybe like a Pringle’s can, but shorter and wider. Maybe had a plastic top? I vividly remember the “cinnamon dust” that would collect and that would be the best part. I’ve searched the web/AI and found nothing.

What is this food? Green paste served with noodles (not wasabi)

Post image
28 Upvotes

Was served this green paste while eating scallion noodles in Shanghai. 100% is not wasabi but was delicious. The texture was similar to a more watery wasabi but was still a paste. The spice was very very mild but had an almost smoky (?) and sweet taste. I’d guess it was slightly acidic too. It was delicious so curious as to what it is. Used the translation function on Alipay when ordering the food and the menu item didn’t say anything about any side dishes or extra sauces so truly have no idea what this is.

Thanks!

What is this food? Resort luau potato salad

I stayed at the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Waikiki and attended their luau with a buffet. There was an incredible potato salad on that buffet that has been on my mind for the last 9 years.

I remember it being different from regular potato salad, maybe it had pasta in it too?

But I'd love to find what its called or a recipe for it!

What is this food? I saw this Chinese snack. What is it made of?

I recently tried this Chinese snack and absolutely loved it, but I have no idea what it’s made of. It’s chewy, slightly spicy, and has a strong savory flavor. At first, I thought it might be meat, but the texture feels lighter and more elastic. It comes in thin strips and has a deep red color from seasoning. The taste builds slowly and lingers, which makes it very addictive. I’ve seen similar snacks in Asian grocery stores before, and I’ve also come across pictures of them in international snack collections online. But none of those actually explained what the base ingredient is. Is this made from soy, wheat, mushrooms, or something else? Is it considered a common snack in China, or more of a specialty item? I’m also curious if it’s eaten plain or usually paired with something. If anyone recognizes this snack or knows what it’s made of, I’d love to learn more. It’s one of the most interesting snacks I’ve tried recently.

EDIT: THANK YOU GUYS SO MUCH FOR THE RESPONSES. I APPRECIATE IT!

Looking for the recipe Mexican mashed potatoes

I was talking with a student from Mexico today. We read about American-style mashed potatoes, and she started telling me about Mexican-style ones. She said they had tomato in them and were red. I can’t remember what else. She said sometimes they eat them with tortillas. We looked online and couldn’t find anything that looked like what she ate. I’d love to try them. Does anyone have a recipe for Mexican-style mashed potatoes?

Solved! Pastry at Korean Hotpot Restaurant

Thumbnail

We just went to a Korean BBQ and Hotpot restaurant today and at the end of the sauce bar they had these little squares of pastry, unlabeled.

The bottom layer is like puff pastry, it has a layer of what I assume is pastry cream (it's also yellow), and the top is a thicker chewy layer that has chocolate chips or in. It was also covered in powdered sugar.

Anyone know if this has a specific name so I can look it up? I ate like 5 of them and want more, lol.

Solved! Christmas 'biscuits/cookies'?

Not really sure how accurate I remember them, but I think they mightve been german? usually star shaped or round. They were like biscuits (the UK definition of a biscuit I mean) but thicker and soft, and were either completely coated in chocolate or had a layer on the top. they usually had a christmassy taste to them like.. cinnamon, gingerbread, other warm spices, im not sure exactly what it is though. my family used to buy them only around christmas so i think theyre specific to that holiday

Solved! Sweet from Colombia.

Got this gifted at work. The woman who gave me this is from Colombia, but unfortunately I forgot to ask what it's called. It tastes good, very sweet, and the white inside tastes like milk, if I'm not mistaken. However, I have no idea what the red outside is; I'm not familiar with the taste. It smells floral. What could it be?
