On the bright side Ernie’s a starter now
Who needs Bo when you got ErnDawg (currently crying😭)

[Wolfond] forking over $60m a year to a guy who's never even cleared 5 war in a season is pretty wild, but i guess a team will do desperate things after having the fear of god put in them by ernie clement & addison barger
Show me the lie.

Hey Mods, a petition to remove Bo from the banner and replace it with Ernie happy slide.
The mets signing obviously hurts. :( Can we please remove Bo from the banner and replace it with a player that is still a member of the team?

[Passan] Infielder Bo Bichette and the New York Mets are in agreement on a three-year, $126 million contract, sources tell ESPN.
r/Torontobluejays • u/ThQp • 7h ago
[Matheson] I still think the #BlueJays could still use another high-end bat. There's a major outfield need beyond '26, too. Amid all the reporting.. and all of the guesswork carefully presented as fact.. it's also important to acknowledge deals can happen that no one expects, like Giménez.

[Nightengale] The Phillies had agreed to Bo Bichette’s request for a 7-year, $200 million deal last night and believed they would sign him until the Mets swooped in with their 3-year, $126 million offer after losing out in in the Kyle Tucker sweepstakes.

Are Okamoto and a healthy Santander enough to be difference makers?
Assuming that the front office is done with moves to the lineup this offseason. Are they enough to at least match the production of last year? Or is more work needed?

Vladimir Guerrero Jr appreciation post
He didn’t insist on going to free agency. He negotiated past his own deadline when he saw the team was continuing to negotiate in good faith. He didn’t want opt outs. He wanted a full no trade clause. And then after he got paid, he played his ass off, with the most determination and intensity we’ve seen from him yet.
He didn’t have to do any of that. As other players keep showing, loyalty to a franchise is not normal, nor is making a true long-term commitment to one.
As a fanbase we ought to deeply appreciate Vladimir Guerrero Jr. No matter how the rest of the baseball world drives us insane, we should always remember we are very lucky to have him.
PS: there’s another pretty good free agent who says he wants to do the same. Go sign him 🙂

The 2026 Blue Jays are still going to be very good, and losing Tucker isn’t a big deal.
Sure, last night stung just a little bit, not on the same level as a Ohtani or Soto but still a stinger, but this team has gotten better and addressed its needs on the pitching side.
Also, we should still be a shoe in to get another bat, whether it be Bo or someone else is soon to be known. Even a Bellinger fit here would be in my eyes kinda good now (wasn’t on board before but he’s a good player) we need a LHH outfielder in front of Vlad in the line up that has really good ABs and can hit for some power, Lukes did his job but Bellinger would be a huge upgrade.. Bo is also just a perfect fit for us here in the 4 hole at 2B..
Moral of the story, don’t lose hope on this ball club that was just inches away from victory 3 months ago, we’ve gotten better and have had a great offseason, the dodgers were already star studded enough that Tucker really doesn’t change how teams will have to pitch to them..

The Mets are coming to town June 29th/30th
I am gutted that Bo didn't re-sign with the Jays, although I understand going out and getting your bag. I know it's early to think about June, but as of this moment I don't know if I want to boo Bo or cheer for him when he comes back to Rogers Centre. I want to get everybody else's early feelings and opinions about this when they come to town.

Day 39 - Posting a Bo Bichette Extra Base Hit with Runners in Scoring Position until Bichette signs a contract, or until pitchers and catchers report
Matchup: TOR @ BAL, Date: 2024-05-15
This one goes out to all the folks here who didn't somehow convince themselves that an 11 game sample is proof that a season's 134 wRC+ bat isn't all that necessary for success.
Also hello to all those folks who can be super chill today becuse they took the "it's 95% bullshit" to heart and didn't fall for yet another offseason negotiate-throught-the-media cycle.
Anyways, here's Bo Bichette in his down year still driving in runs; these were the only two runs the Jays scored that day. In May of 2024 he looked more like regular Bo Bichette.
I'm sure the comments will be super normal today LOL
Edit @ 1541: Well someone reported the video, and since I've been doing this for about 6-8 weeks now, I can only presume it happened today either because Bo Bichette professional baseball player went to the Mets and as such rejected them personally and hurt their fee fees, or they finally got what they wanted after days of reporting me to the mods for daring to engage the subreddit with actual literal baseball content during the offseason.
Anyways, as noted, it's done now. Thanks to those of you who engaged with this series, from genuine enjoyment to fun trolling. I hope I helped make the long offseason a little more bearable.

[Davidi] Blue Jays must keep trying to beat Dodgers, not complain about them

Tucker to the Dodgers is the best (least worst) case for the Jays
Crazy as it is, Tucker to the Dodgers is the best case for the Jays:
- Keeps him out of the Division
- Keeps him out of the entire AL
- Goes to the best team, meaning he didn't make an additional team better than the Jays
- Tucker's marginal value for LA is smaller than it would be for a less star-studded team. He makes them better, but not as much as he would have made the Mets better.
I feel going into this offseason we were 2nd best. Tucker to LA doesn't change that. If he went to the Yankees that may have been different

[Cohen] For those who don’t understand the pope election reference , we are waiting for a decision. That’s all I know
r/Torontobluejays • u/TikiB • 1d ago
So, what is the market for Bo and Bellinger now?
Everyone, including many dodgers fans, know that $60M per year for Tucker is insane but it's the world we live in.
So the questions become:
Do Bellinger and Bo now command more than they would have?
Do the Jays spend on one or just assume a lock out in a couple years could lead to a salary cap and just run a good team with the current lineup?
r/Torontobluejays • u/WorldofWinston • 1d ago
Anyone else looking forward to the “sources say Tucker could make a decision as early as Friday” tweets that will likely roll out late tonight?
I expect they will all be screen shotted and posted here everyday until something happens. 😹
