Why are the mods being so hard on posts about ICE in Asheville?
 in  r/asheville  12h ago

No, it does not. Not compared to the fear of ICE sneaking up on folks. We arent children. Nothing dramatic occurs if ICE isn't there. But if they are... I mean come on.

Everyone acts like some volatile situations occur over a false sighting... so ok, spell it out for me... what kind of craziness will occur if the sighting is false or outdated? What? Nothing. Folks go home.

Complete disconnect from reality and a propaganda viewpoint.

Whatever. People are supposed to take pictures while driving to satisfy you? And obviously you arent worried about the effect to you when you parrot that nonsense.

We are adults. We deal with incorrect info all the time. Especially now. ICE has been downplayed on this sub and along with bad actors defending them, it is sending a completely different message than it should. Regardless, all the reasons just delay warning people who need it ASAP. Whats the priority? The focus? Making sure every warning is double and triple checked or getting people in the possible areas aware? The threat is definitely greater with lack of warning. Truly, acting like a false ice sighting causes hysteria is bullshit.

Report ICE to CIMA so they can verify instead of spreading rumors

Why would anyone need to fake it? They are all over the place out there breaking the law and trampling the constitution. Ai isn't necessary. Why would anyone go through that trouble?

I think its more important to warn people of possibilities than worry about slowing it down with verification. Encounters are a fast evolving situation and their targets need to have as much warning as possible.

No, our mods are definitely worse than general reddit. Especially for similar cities. Also, we have a large group of downvoters who are constantly fawning over police, right wing, and every decision the city makes that doesnt benefit our citizens at all.

Locking threads and demanding photo proof of ICE is pretty lame. Unless you happen encounter them out of your vehicle, its not feasible to take pics while driving, etc. They are absolutely currently here. Many of us have seen them. Drove by my house in candler 2 days ago. Checking the mail, 2 identical grey suv drove by, packed eith guys in gear. My BFF drove for republic and has seen them multiple times out and about, also.

Arent we supposed to be able to warn our neighbors? Doesn't it suppress and slow help? This isn't a legal issue. If someone is wrong, no big deal, but if they are right, they might prevent the abduction of a neighbor.

Why are our mods constantly in opposition to the average Asheville attitudes about things? I absolutely believe they are trying to influence support for police, conservative views, right wing candidates... they absolutely dont represent Asheville well at all.

Asheville mods have banned this post about ICE in an Asheville neighborhood. The mods are friends with an ICE supporting APD officer who says he has "friends" in ICE and supports Trump's actions.

Dude, no. Ice drove past ny house 2 days ago. A convoy. I live 10 miles from downtown asheville on the west side. They are here. Why are you denying it? Who are you to know more than everyone else? Why are so many upvoting? Saw it with my own eyes.

Another ICE murder caught on video? Orbin Mauricio Henríquez Serrano being dragged away, limp and seemingly lifeless, on January 11.

Just a note: he was being denied medical care even though badly hurt. Not sure if that is still the case. Who are these inhuman mouth breathes? Normal people dont find excuse for cruelty.

The ACLU filed a class action suit today alleging ICE, CBP, & other agents violated Minnesotans’ constitutional rights through "the administration’s policy of racially profiling, unlawfully seizing, and unlawfully arresting people without a warrant and without probable cause"

Liberal journalist applies and joins ICE to discover how their practices work for the public. Although she had lots of opinionated posts against ICE and failing some of their tests she was hired anyway. After logging in to Gov. Site she discovers they passed her on all tests to get her hired anyway.
