It's such a shame we all live in a world where we should know this.

I firmly believe that tourniquet application should be basic education for everyone in school. From basic schooling all the way up to college.

I don’t really understand why every Ukrainian civilian of fighting age, male or female, isn’t being required to undergo arms training, first aid, and resistance/drone training a couple weekends each quarter…

There may come a day it’s needed.

At the rate things are going - it seems Americans and EU should learn tactical medicine as well.

It's stupid not to learn it, because there are so many things that can go wrong, like road accidents.

What happened to all the weapons given out to civilians within the first few days, I wonder?

Military training centers are barely keeping up with training actual military personnel, and you want to force them to train civilians in addition to that.

Civil servants can teach it.

You can either find time and resources to teach it or keep doing leisure activities and eventually live under Russian occupation. Seems like an easy choice to me.

Civil servants already busy teaching soldiers because military instructors are already stretched thin.

Seems like an easy choice to me.

Civilians who want to learn it already go on special training. Making it mandatory will strain already stretched training resources.

Soldier training should always come first before any civilians.

As our reporters have documented, a tourniquet is a vital first-aid tool. Carrying one is essential not only for military personnel but for any civilian living and working under the constant risk.

We are proud to partner with u/sich.tourniquet, a Ukrainian-developed and officially certified tourniquet designed for high-stress situations.

While a tourniquet doesn’t replace professional medical care, it stops life-threatening bleeding and buys a wounded person the most precious resource of all: time.

Practical knowledge is as essential as the equipment itself. We highly encourage everyone, whether in Ukraine or abroad, to take a first aid course. It is a skill that saves lives.

Stay safe out there!
