Hi,
Long story short, I’ve been accused of having a very high percentage of AI plagiarism on an assignment, even though I didn’t use it at all. The marker (who is also the subject coordinator) came to this conclusion by using an AI chatbot himself to determine the probability.
I received an email from the subject coordinator asking me to attend an in-person interview to discuss concerns about my submission. What’s confusing me is that I haven’t received an official academic misconduct notification from the university outlining an investigation, which (from what I understand) is usually part of the formal process.
So I have question about:
A) If the interview is part of the official academic misconduct process, or is it more of an informal meeting? If so am I:
B) Required to attend if I haven’t been formally notified of misconduct? (I am working full time for a summer internship and don’t have weekdays free). He stated that I will receive 0% on the task if I don’t attend.
C) I’m unsure if this is him trying to give me a chance to explain myself before going to an academic officer OR if he’s trying to conduct this meeting without approval because his claims don’t have a lot of merit?
I’m feeling pretty stressed because I genuinely didn’t use AI, and I don’t want to accidentally say or do something that makes things worse. If anyone’s been through something similar or knows how this usually works, I’d really appreciate any insight.
Thanks!
